04 ❆ the possibility that she was the evil twin had never crossed her mind

[Arya looks very serious as she addresses the network today. She's still on the brink of fury, unable to shake off what had happened with Frisk.]

How many others of you had their Mirror try to murder them while the parties were going on? They have the advantage here, they know far more about us than we do them -- how do you even prepare to fight someone like that?

[She's about to switch off, then something else occurs to her and her face hardens.]

If you see my Mirror, promise me you'll kill them.

[ He might still be a little bit sore about that. ]

Haven't met my mirror yet, so I couldn't tell you.

[But he has met Arya, fought with her and it's kind of hard to imagine anyone supposed to be her opposite being all that dangerous.]

But there's a reason I always break the mirrors around me. How do I recognise yours?

[They've been sticking to text for these past few days. Mostly because they way they look now is probably...well, they don't want a reminder of how awful they look, how truly battered they probably seem.]

I know Sans's mirror fought with him but I don't know why.

[She's still a little sore that she only got as far as trying.]

I don't just go around murdering anyone, though.

[Arya hasn't considered that, having not met her mirror either. She frowns, shrugging her shoulders.]

She'll look like me. Only evil.

[She feels a little hurt that they're using text for the few seconds it takes her to realise that it's probably not a slight against her but more related to all they've been through.]

it's okay. i'd do it again. i'm just sad we didn't get to finish them off. i don't want them to hurt you again.

Neither do I. I didn't think theyd do something that drastic.

[He thinks for a moment, looking at her through the communicator and finally leaning forward a little.]

I've seen you fight. You sure your opposite would pose any threat?

but they would have killed you.

It must be. They wouldn't be mirrors of us and look completely different. ...Would they?

[The thought has never occurred to her, and now she's paranoid that her mirror could be anyone.]

Maybe not, but I don't want to take any chances. They're all working for the Queen of Hearts, after all.

Alot of people have killed me.

Doesn't make them bad people

I didn't run into my Mirror... but I did run into one of a friend. The experience was... not pleasant.

[To say nothing of what had happened to Fitz when he'd met a Mirror -- and a particularly dangerous one.]

I suppose I should feel special, then?

[ Really, Arya? Really? ]

[ this is perhaps the most sensible response he's seen to the events of the past day and wonderland at large. that it comes from the mouths of babes, well. (klaus knows there are children here. he's seen them on the network, around the mansion; the video from yesterday, of the girl in the forest comes to mind. perhaps they remind of him too much of his daughter, also bereft of her father.)

klaus recognizes this girl, from the short message she left to quite a disturbing threat. i'll take their place. that's what she said. such strength she had, the words of someone brave. and angry.

he's still smiling a bit from her request: that if someone sees her mirror, to kill her. not out of any mockery; he's simply charmed. ]

I would wager finding out about them is the best course of action.

[Arya scoffs at that, any sarcasm going straight over her head.]

The answer's simple.

[ katherine's worst enemy had been in the form of klaus for over five centuries, but she's beginning to learn (and ignore, of course) that that person is the woman reflected back in the mirror. ]

[ she hadn't had the misfortune of meeting her mirror self, but her mirror had left her a gift. unnerved as she is by it, she doesn't appear unsettled by the talk of mirrors and murdering them. if anything, she seems confident. ]

How would you fight yourself?

Well, not murdered. Tied to a chair and attempted to 're-educate' me, yeah. Maybe attempted brainwashing is close to attempted murder of some form?

[A pause. He's... not good with kids. And to him, she's a kid.]

About me killing people?

[They've not started to hide it since they got here. So why start now, right?]

No. They were right. I've done a lot of bad things

[Arya's instantly alarmed, squinting at her on the camera and wondering how she dealt with the Mirror.]

Did they hurt you?

How, though? It's not as though we can just ask them what their weaknesses are.

[In some ways she wished the incident with Frisk had happened earlier, so she'd still have the opportunity to go over and snoop on the Mirror side.]

[That's what it would come down to, fighting herself. She doesn't like the idea.]

Doesn't that depend on exactly how they mirror us, though? Mine could have the same fighting style, or the complete opposite.

[Or none at all, in fact, but Arya's so certain that all of the Mirrors mean them harm that she doesn't even consider that possibility.]

Re-educate? As in, they were trying to make you more like them?

[In some ways that sounds worse than murder, in this place where one could bounce back from death so easily.]

I'm fine. I nearly got them - my friend's mirror, that is. [And she's still sore it's only 'nearly'.] I just hate knowing they're so close but we can't get at them.
