[Donna's reclining on her bed, a fluffy calico kitten snoozing next to her. She looks bored, and that's never a good sign.]

So, what's everybody been up to 'round here lately? Besides events and whatnot, that is. Anything interesting? [She arches an eyebrow at the camera, smirking deviously.] Any decent gossip?

Donna. [Martha offers a bright smile. It's been far too long since the two of them have spoken, which is quite the shame. Martha's been keeping to herself more than usual since the event, though, so that's part of the reason why.]

What's that you have there? A kitten? I didn't realize that you had a pet! [It's not such a bad idea. There's plenty of space here, and most people have enough free time to devote lots of attention to an animal.]

In any case, I don't know about any gossip, sorry.

Oh, yeah, I got her not long after I arrived. Al was looking for homes for a bunch of them, and I figured - well, why not? I've never had a pet before, unless you count a few fish I had once.

That's all right. What've you been up to lately, then?

[So Donna knows Alphonse too? Martha's not surprised, as he's a sweet boy. Though she's still got to make her full apology to him...]

I didn't have many pets either. My parents could never really agree on what we would get, and they were convinced me and my siblings wouldn't take care of them properly.

[Martha had been hoping to avoid what she's been up to lately. It's not that she doesn't trust Donna, it's just... that event is difficult to talk about.] I... well, there was the event. Not much, other than that. Just tending to the clinic. How about you?

My mum would never let me have any, and then...I don't know, I just never felt like getting one after I moved out. Suppose I would've had to get rid of it once I moved back home, anyway. [Donna grimaces a little; the fact that she's thirty-odd years old and still living with her mother is not one of her favourite topics of conversation.]

Same, except even more boring, I'm afraid.

[Martha knows well enough to realize that they shouldn't dwell on the fact that Donna moved back in with her parents. That's not bound to be an easy subject for anyone. Once again, she wonders what exactly happens to Donna that she ends up ceasing her travels with the Doctor, when she'd told her she would travel with him forever. But that's not something she can ask her, obviously.]

Have you run into the Doctor yet? [Martha hasn't actually brought that up with Donna so far, which really just goes to show how long it's been since the two of them have talked.]

No, I haven't. [Donna's eyes widen in surprise.] You mean he's here? And he hasn't said anything to me?

[She is, quite frankly, rather offended by this.]

To be fair, I haven't seen much of him either. I've only spoken to him twice since he's arrived...

[Martha doesn't know what that's about, honestly. It doesn't seem like him, but then again, he's a regenerated version. Maybe in this regeneration, he keeps to himself more. It still doesn't feel right, but who knows.]

Could be he wandered out into the forest and got lost. Not really sure. I know his room is on the tenth floor, though.

Wandering into the forest and getting lost would be just like him, wouldn't it?

[Donna laughs, but it seems a little forced. Yeah, she's still annoyed.]

Figured it was only a matter of time till he turned up, what with the lot of us getting dragged here.

I wasn't surprised to see him -- well, I suppose I was a bit surprised, but that's because he's regenerated.

[It's something Martha figures she should warn Donna about, because she gets the feeling it would come as a huge shock to her and Donna's got a tendency for... dramatic reactions to things. And while that would be amusing enough to imagine, some advance warning is probably for the best.]

So he looks different. Acts a bit different too, but he's still the same Doctor when it comes down to it.

[Donna never has dramatic reactions, she has absolutely no idea what you could possibly be talking about. Really.]

So is he the Doctor that Clara and Amy were talking about, then? I'm still not sure I understand this whole regeneration nonsense...

As far as I can tell, he is, yeah. Though he's from before he's met Clara, so that's even more complicated. [Martha rubs the space between her eyes and lets out a sigh.]

The regeneration is just part of how Time Lords are. I think all of them can do it. If they die, they'll regenerate into a new body. Eventually they run out, but... [Martha doesn't know how many more lives the Doctor has, come to think of it. She hopes he's still got plenty more.]
