Greetings! This is Toriel!

I have been thinking, recently... and today, I became curious about other's opinions on the matter, as well.

How many of you are happy here?

Certainly, this place is far from ideal. We are of course, being kept here against our will, and I know that I personally, am not as bothered by that, as I have spent most of my life in a similar situation. Not to mention that, quite often, the events that it forces upon us are... well. Ordeals.

But for some, a place like this may be the only place we can see some people close to us. People we may have lost. For others, this is the only place we could truly exist at all. Wonderland, despite having entire worlds to pick from, does seem fond of picking people who know each other, people within close-knit groups within those worlds.

I have met people, made relationships, and enjoyed experiences that I could not have ever had, otherwise. Despite all its faults... I am glad to have been brought here.

That has not proven correct for me. I am the only one from my world and I cannot say Wonderland has done me much good. (If any.)

Unfortunately, yes, I did not expect my experience to be universal.

How long have you been here, if I may ask?

A few months, which I assume is nothing compared to others. There remains the possibility others from my England will join me.

I have been here a little over a year, personally, and there are many who have been here significantly longer than I have.

I am certain that someone from my world had to have been the first. There is no need to lose hope! And that aside, you still may be able to make entirely new bonds here!

Mmm... Well, that is somewhat difficult to say! It is a very big world, after all, and I only live in a small part of it.

[Toriel just kinda says something as filler, so she's not quiet for too long, because... that doesn't make much sense to her.

Sans is from one of those good timelines, after all, right? Where everyone's okay, nobody died, and they all got to go to the surface, his brother's with him, and basically everything's perfect, right?

It might be an easy choice for her, which of her two possibilities is better- but it should be an easy choice for him, too, in the opposite direction.]

...I hope that it is not prying, but what is it about this place that makes that such a tough call for you?

[Months ago, a post along these lines would and did set Lapis off completely. The idea of being happy here is so inherently impossible it's offensive. That was soon after her arrival, though, and since then she's at least stabilized enough to grudgingly accept the concept of people who aren't her having different experiences. It's still appalling, but so are a lot of things.

Anyway, that's all neither here nor there when weighed against the siren call of giving Toriel a hard time.]

It depends on what is going on, of course, but I enjoy spending time with my family here.

Yeah, I like it here so far.

That zombie event sucked, though. It's weird how like...man, one day everything's calm, and then the whole world changes, and suddenly you're fighting for your life, and there's nothing to eat, and everything's just a waking nightmare...and then it's over. And everything's calm again. I mean, jeez, how do you get used to that?

Honestly- I do not know. I have been here over a year and it is still always incredibly jarring and unpleasant.

It is certainly one of the things which I would like to change about this place.

Yeah, it's...I dunno. Or like if, I dunno, if they were just less dangerous, or if we had more warning. Even with the snow event...it was fun, but it's just so sudden. It just feels, uh...

People like me won't EVER be happy. I got that long ago.

But that other world... it doesn't want me. It never should have had to deal with me to begin with. Given the choice between this and finding out what happens when something without a soul dies... it's pretty obvious which is preferable, is it not?

Still not sure how I pulled off that particular scam, ha ha! But... you know what I mean, right? There's no future for me there. Frisk will forget ever wanting me around if we go back there. Mettaton, Sans, Dad, you... none of you will hear me at all if I go back there. I won't be anything but a bad memory.

In Wonderland... I get to exist. That's the sort of luxury that makes the events bearable, no?
