[There's a face very, very, very close to the screen. Not a shock, given he's basically sitting on the device with wide eyes and a mouth hanging open a little in awe. It makes strange noises sometimes and he's not sure what it is but he will work it out. He's smarter than he looks, he'll have you know. He's a smart cookie. The smartest of cookies even because cookies are remarkably dumb. They don't even put up a fight when he eats them so they're clearly inferior to the all mighty Groot.

He leans forward slowly. He licks it. Ew. Nope. Not food. Hmm.

Okay, back to square one.

It's not doing much but be kind of reflective, it's probably not a weapon and--

Oh! He can see his face!!!

He pulls funny faces into it happily, delighted with how he can see himself and somehow not paying attention to anything else in the screen but himself.]

[He is a little lost but he should be okay, Rocket is coming. He does, instead, gesture at the device and prod it a little.] I am Groot? [Is it food?] I am Groot? [Is it enemy?

In his effort to poke this strange thing, he accidentally changes it to the text function but continues to poke.]

[ Elizabeth watches the string of letters appear on the screen and finds that she's even more angry with Wonderland than usual - it's clear he has no idea what's going on and she's not sure whether he can understand her as she tries to explain it. ]

It's sort of a portable telegram device, although we can record video on it too. It allows us to communicate with everyone here.

[Groot makes a small impressed 'Oooh' noise and nods his head appreciatively for the helpful advise. It's not food, it's just a fancy telegram device. Whatever a telegram was. He smiles and then hits the smiley face button.]

[ She's been in Wonderland for over a year and a half, and she hadn't realised that she could send funny faces like that. She just gazes at the screen for a moment with a wide smile before punching in a combination to send back to him. ]

[Yay! More fun faces! Groot grins and returns a few by tapping his device. See, who needed to have a real conversation when a tiny tree can send you emotes?]

[ Elizabeth isn't sure whether there's a larger message to the emotes he's sending or whether he's choosing them at random. She tries to find one to represent him ... but the closest she can find is a Christmas tree. ]
