[ He'll pat the top of the chair on the other side of Jon to get the boy's attention to it, gesturing for him to sit down. ]

Usually here, we can ask for anything we want to eat. It'll just... 'poof' in front of your eyes if you think about it. Ah, see! [ He quickly points at the refilling plates of meat. ] Something like that. But during this event, I don't think it works. Well, the event shouldn't last too long, anyway. Just grab whatever you like, it's all for free.

( he's a growing boy, he's always hungry and ready to shove his face full of five hundred things. he doesn't even care what five hundred things at this point, really. just things.

jon takes the hint and does sit down where mondo gestures to, sliding his plate down onto the table in front of him as he grabs onto the pig leg and starts shoving that down his throat. it's not really an. average food, but whatever; still tastes good, he'll still eat it. again, he waits until he's finished with the food in his mouth before he turns to mondo, wiping off his mouth on his sleeve. )

Oh, that's cool! A little weird, but--cool! At least we won't run outta stuff.

[ He'll hand Jon the napkin over with an amused smirk. If he keeps this up, maybe he'll grow to be a buff man. Of course, apart from just eating, that means proper training is necessary. Could Mondo probably coach him? That'll be fun. Maybe he can... try hitting up the exercise room again sometime. Maybe. ]

ーOh, yeah. Y'can also get some food from your closet if ya don't feel like goin' too far. [ They could've just ate at his room, but might as well show him around. ] There's also a Diner on the eighth floor, if you want some home-cooked meal. They make pretty good stuff. Desserts, too. [ Emphasis on desserts. ]

Oh, right, sorry. ( napkins. he was taught way better than to use his sleeve. jon takes the napkin, mumbling a quiet thank you before he's going right back to digging into his food--stopping every once in a while to clean his face off with the napkin. right. manners. just because no one's here to scold him for being gross, doesn't mean he should be gross. )

Desserts're always awesome. I didn't know the closets could give food, too! ( note to self: request a microwave and hot pockets from his closet. maybe a mini-fridge. not that he needs them, the kitchen's not that far away, and if he's ever really hungry, he can just superspeed his way on out to the kitchen. ) I doubt their desserts are as good as my mom's pies, though.

I mean, if you don't care 'bout it, no sweat. Just thought it'd feel icky later. [ Gross is fine to Mondo, he just personally doesn't like wiping his mouth with his own clothes, at least not when he's wearing his tokkoufuku (the robe/long jacket). It's his pride, so can't dirty it ー even if it isn't supposed to matter anymore. ]

Yeah, the closet has literally anything you want. [ Ah. ] Within reason. [ As worded by Nanami. ] You can get whatever that can fit out of that closet, so nothing too huge. [ Though, haha, got nothin' on Mama's tastes, huh? Mondo nods to that. Even though he can't really relate, he can sort of imagine it. ] I'd say Arisato's got pretty rad skills too. Won't compare to your mom's, but we can give it a try sometime when you like.

If my mom was here, she'd be getting really mad about my sleeves, so. ( another sheepish smile; he should know better already, but really. sometimes.. you just gotta, mondo. you gotta use you sleeves. his poor sleeve will never recover from all the grease now--at least lois isn't here to judge him for it.

he'd actually like it a lot better if she were, but. finishing this food before he starts sulking again is probably a lot better than breaking into the sulking now. so he goes back to his plate instead, stuffs a decent amount of bread into his mouth and takes his time to finish it off. ) Arisato? --do you think you could pull a dirt bike out of the closet?

We'll keep this a secret from your mom, then. [ He grins mischievously, showing off his canine teeth as he (very) lightly elbows Jon. ] Just make sure you wash them well, she won't find out.

Oh, yeah. Arisato is aー [ ーfriend? Uhh. ] someone I know. If you ever feel like it I can bring you over there. [ He can at least attest to the good hands of the other teen.

Anyway, Jon brings up a good question there. In general, kids' dirt bike is considerably smaller, so maybe... ] We can try that out when we're done here. I think it's possible, the closet's pretty big, and all. Otherwise, we can always ask for parts. That's what I'm doing with the bike I'm planning to build.

( thank you for protecting him from his mother, mondo. he appreciates it. he'd return the elbowing with some of his own, but--sometimes he loses control of his own strength, so better not test it against someone's ribcage. ) Aw man, I'm gonna have to wash my own clothes here. ( looks. down to his poor ruined sleeve. yeah, that'll be a pain. ) At least I know how to mend them and stuff!

( so, not that difficult. but still. ) I've never driven one, but maybe we can race some tiny ones! If you wouldn't mind teaching me how? I know how to drive a tractor, but I think bikes're way different.

[ Technically, the closet can just give them new clothes but he'll keep quiet about that. ]

I'm plannin' to claim another room to dump woodworks and whatever bike stuff. You can claim another if you want, or share the space with me. We can build stuff together. What d'ya think?

[ ...Oy vey, kid. ] Tractor?! Holy shit. [ Right, he's a farm boy. ] Is it fun? [ Mondo's more than intrigued. ]

I’ve always been pretty good at chores! My mom and dad’ve made sure I learned how to do good, honest hard work. ( he says that with a very obvious sense of pride; he knows how to mend his own clothes, how to wash them, even if he doesn’t do it often. he can take care of basically any animal, knows basic first aid. .

jon would be a great boyscout, if he was allowed to be one. the sad thing about having superpowers? doing stuff normal kids do just completely leaves the table. playing sports is basically cheating, especially since he doesn’t get tired, is way stronger than any normal kid, and could probably race the flash. )

We can share! That sounds like a lot of fun. We can make some uh. . some shelves! And desks. And dressers. Maybe some cool wooden toys. I kinda miss Google. But we can find some cool stuff to make! There’re books! ( no google? no problem. )

Tractors are pretty cool. ( the coolest time was when he drove one right into some giant monster his dad was fighting. it’s really just too bad he can’t share his superheroing stories. )

[ Well ain't that some satisfying answer to hear! Mondo nods his head sagely with his arms crossed. ]

Tough cookie, ain't 'cha. What can't ya do, then? [ It was supposed to be half a joke, but now he really wonders if Jon has something he can't really do. ]

Yeah!! You're making me pumped up. [ He laughs. ] We can check out the library for instructions and things we ain't sure of. If they got nothin'... then we can just experiment.

[ Pardon his incredibly city boy question, but. ] What kinda things d'you guys use the tractor for?

( he can't come into contact with shiny glowy green rocks, for one. he doesn't match well with magic. . doesn't like city life much. most of that seems a little weird to bring up suddenly in conversation, so he doesn't. especially the green rocks part. )

Tractors're for pulling equipment! Mostly my dad and I use them to help move soil around. . We have one of those uh, those things that you pull behind tractors that help the dirt. I forget what they're called.

( jon does take another moment to shove the rest of his food into his mouth--so that they can get going. he's fed, he's good. ) Want to head to the library?

[ Mondo listens quietly with fascination. ]

Nice. [ Basically to prepare for plantation, huh? ] Hmm, dunno what's that called. But I think I get what you meant!

[ Oh, already? Not that he minds. Well, to be honest, books tend to bore him to death, but he doesn't mind the how-to kinds, and those that can help them learn new things without being too wordy. Hopefully there're some pictorial instructions. ] Sure. Drink some water first, and we can get going.

[ He'll wait for Jon at the entrance, trying to remember where he saw the library at. ]

( what a good mondo. jon nods his head in agreement, that--yeah, drinking something with his food's probably good, so he grabs onto the nearest giant pitcher of water, pours himself a cup, and drinks it all down as fast as he can before he's getting himself up to his feet and following after mondo.

he's realized his mistake, now. jon can take in information at a pace much faster than any normal person, can read through an entire library in the time it'd take mondo to walk there. man, he shoulda said he'd do research on his own later. not that he can't read slow, but it's a lot less fun. )

[ He nods at Jon, taking a brief time to look around the corridors for any signs of library. Nope, looks like it isn't on this floor. He leads them to the stairs again. ]

If I'm not wrong, it should be on the first floor. Let's see if we get it right.

What kinda books do you wanna read up on first?

[ He wonders if he could find some instructional books on how to build up your own motorcycle. ]

( and off they go! so he grabs right back onto mondo’s sleeve, holds onto him as they explore around the castle. )

What do you want to do first? Build a motorcycle or. . start building other cool stuff? ( it kinds of depends based off that, doesn’t it? jon’s cool with doing whatever. either way, he keeps his hands busy. )

[ Oh shit, he forgot that was a thing. Way to warm his heart without warning, Jon. ]

Uh. [ Okay let him gather himself for a moment. ] Don't worry about my bike, I'll do it as I go. But let's try finding one for your bike. The dirt bike. And uh, basics of woodwork, maybe? Whaddya think? Anything you wanna learn?

[ Bingo. The library is at the first floor after all! Not difficult to find once they're there, the sign outside makes it glaringly obvious anyway. He pushes the door open for the two of them, looking around once they're inside. ]

Holy crap, 's huge. How many aisles are there even... 1, 2, 3, 4... goddamn, the day's gonna be over by the time I'm done counting.

( yo, mondo doesn’t give him any sign of disliking it at all, so of course jon’s going to keep holding onto him. if anything, the way his heart jumps gives jon the feeling that he’s pretty okay with being held onto. )

We could make a birdhouse. Those’re pretty easy. We made some simple ones back in school—but I bet we can make an even cooler one.

( there are a lot of rows of books. but one of the benefits of being half kryptonian? super vision. jon’s eyes see things a lot better than any humans could; he perceives things with a level of clarity that’s, frankly, not quite explainable. he adjusts the glasses on his face, pushes the frames up with a finger and looks over the rows of books under them. it’s only another moment before he’s settling them on his nose once more and pointing his index out to a row off in the distance. )

There’s some woodworking stuff over there, aand--( in the opposite direction-- ) dirt bike stuff over that way.

[ He... Well yeah he doesn't. Dislike it. He's okay with it. Very okay, even. A+ stuff. Yep. ]

Birdhouse, eh. We can do that! [ ...Are there even birds here. Not that he know of, but hey. ] It'll be a good practice!

[ Holy crap. What. Isn't this the first time Jon's here?! ]

You can tell?! [ Do all libraries have universal arrangement or something? Is that how Jon figure it out so quickly? Whatever it is, those nerdy glasses aren't just for shows, it seems. ] Pretty cool, Jon! [ And that's another pat to the head. ] Alright, let's go to the woodworking aisle first, then! ...Wonder if it's okay to borrow the books? [ Libraries should allow that, right? ] Ah well, as long as we return it, it should be fine.

I’m far-sighted. ( it’s a lie, but. he’s wearing the glasses, maybe that makes sense? maybe mondo won’t catch him on it. that’s totally how he found the stuff. totally. he tugs on mondo’s sleeve, starts pulling him off towards the rows where he’d found the woodworking books. a good of a place to start as any, right? )

It wouldn’t be a library if we weren’t allowed to borrow books, right? Just a uh. . room full of bookshelves and books! I don’t think anyone would mind. ( jon releases the sleeve to take off towards the isles, fingers brushing along the spines of several books before he pulls out one of the larger, more advanced copies on carpentry, holding it up for mondo’s inspection. ) This one?

[ It makes sense to Mondo, and he's not suspecting anything at this moment. Because heck, maybe Jon's just shy about being a bookworm ー he gets it, it's all good! Though, no matter how many times Jon does the whole sleeve tugging, it still will make Mondo's heart skip a beat, because. Goddammit, he's weak. ]

Yeah, exactly! [ Right, this isn't Hope's Peak, they won't blow them up just for borrowing books, surely? Who 'they' are here, Mondo doesn't even know yet. Anyway, he'll follow Jon's lead, letting his eyes wander around the shelves. There seriously are so many books here, holy heck. Whoever loves reading can probably camp here

His attention's back on Jon when the boy holds up a book, and he takes it to flip through it. ]

Oooh, good find!

[ Looking from the table of contents, seems like they've got beginner section, intermediate, and expert. This can be their main guidance to learn the basics. Maybe they should get another to refer from. ]

You know, I was told that we can claim another room for whatever we want, so... 'm thinkin' of gettin' a room to dump all my woodwork stuff there, and probably the setup for the bike, too. You wanna share it wit' me? I mean we can do it in our bedrooms too, but it's kinda... you know. 's nicer to have a separate place.

[ His eyes then catch a book dedicated solely for birdhouses. Mondo pulls that one out, showing it off to Jon. ]

Oh. do we need this too?

( it’s cool, mondo; if the library had tried to blow them up, jon would have saved mondo from turning into ashes. the benefits of having a super powered tiny bro is: sudden accidents aren’t really much of a problem anymore. jon rocks back on his heels when mondo flips through the books, shoves his hands into his pockets and tilts his head back a bit to start looking up and down the shelves.

there’s just about everything here, he realizes. a whole section of comic books, history books, encyclopedias, science, math, fiction, non-fiction. at least the weird world he got stuck in definitely has enough books to keep jon from getting too behind in his school work. it really wouldn’t do him much good if he ended up back home later and got behind in school. )

Yeah, of course! I’m glad I could help find it. This place’s huuge! ( thank you, dad, for granting upon him super eyes. ah, but then mondo starts going on about a room, and jon refocuses his eyes on him instead of looking at everything else. )

A room’d be cool! Think of all the room we’d have to put stuff in! Maybe we can put in a cool spot for video games and stuff, too. Haha. . I probably shouldn’t have mine in my room. ( he could keep going on about the whole, laptops and consoles can be distracting at bedtime thing, but then jon remembers: his parents aren’t here. he doesn’t have bedtimes anymore.

he reaches a hand out for mondo’s new book, wraps his fingers around the spine of it and pulls it in closer so he can take a look at the pages. ) Yeah, this one looks good, too.

[ God, the day Mondo realises that fact will be Wild. But right now his mind's just focusing on all these books and trying to get what he needs in a go because... just looking at them makes him feel sleepy already. ]

You're a lifesaver, I probably will end up napping here if I were to look for it on my own.

[ In his defense, the library as a whole seems pretty darned cozy. ]

Right?! Yeah! We can dump whatever we want there! Plus, maybe if I play enough video games I'll be able to beat you. [ He jokes, he knows he can never, but flashes Jon a mischievous grin anyway. ] ...Huh. Well, I mean, there's no school here, so... [ Wait, no, he gotta be a good big bro, not encouraging bad habits. ] But that's right, you're already wearing glasses now, gotta make sure your eyesight doesn't get worse!

[ With Jon's approval, the book joins the other on Mondo's arms. ] I think we don't need too many, we're prolly gonna try out a lot from these two books alone anyway. Let's get to the dirt bike section. Lead the way, Sir!
