Log: day 57 (video)
[The camera feed comes on showing a somewhat skewed scene of half-built robots and several large monitors surround a central control panel. Then the view rotates as Entrapta adjusts the device. Now the background shows a rather tall, deep red crystal that has wires and cords attached to it.
In front of it all, Entrapta looks very happy, despite the fact that she also looks like she hasn't eaten in some time. There's just been too much to do!]
Okay. It's day 57! [Yes, she's been keeping count of the days since she arrived.] And I've been making a lot of progress in my work!
[For a second it might seem like she's going to be using this as a sort of video diary, but she quickly moves away from that nonsense to something more pertinent.]
What I need to know is how energy flows from this side of Wonderland to the other side. If it does at all. But it must, if the Core is able to process data from this side.
[She gestures with her hair as she speaks, the ends of the strands looking perhaps alarmingly like fingers and hands.]
If I can figure out that transfer of energy, I can probably connect the black garnet [a gesture over her shoulder at the crystal] directly into the energy source! I could potentially divert power directly from the Core and it could have all sorts of potential uses!
[For a second she looks like she's going to go on about some of those potential uses, but then her stomach growls loudly enough for the mic to pick it up. She falters and then looks kind of embarrassed for a second.]
Um, but first I should probably eat something.
[With that, she reaches out with one piece of hair to turn the video off.]

She's seen enough in nearly two years of Wonderland for any oddities to be noted but not remarked upon. ]
Might I suggest a closet made grilled cheese sandwich? If you don't specify what sort of cheese exactly, it chooses randomly for you. A slight adventure with no real downside.
[ Unless the closest decided on something like blue cheese, perhaps. ]
You're trying to understand the magic that keeps us here?
° video
[She looks kind of blank-faced for a minute, then picks up the device in her hair and carries it with her as she goes to the closet. As she walks, she addresses the question Claire asked.]
Yes! Sort of! Right now I'm looking at energy flows. In my world, energy circulates in the planet through a network that's partly technological and partly magical. I want to see if Wonderland is like that! Or if I can make it like that.
° video
[ She realizes her mistake in assuming people are from a similar world again. It's easy to forget sometimes. ]
I have to admit most of what you said makes no sense to me, though I wish it did. You sound very smart and capable.
° video
[Which only seems to bother her a tiny bit. Mainly because it's hard to explain things in slowly, in simple words.
She finds the closet amid all the junk she's accumulating and crouches down, thinking about what grilled cheese might look like. What she ends up with is more like fried cheese curds, but this seems to delight her.]
Look how small they are!
° video
[ How to ask this, exactly? ]
Are you from a time more modern than here?
[ When she comes back with fried cheese, basically, Claire goes to her own closet and gets a grilled cheese and shows it to her. ]
Think of it more as a sandwich. Like this.
[ She should have shown her to begin with, way to go Claire. ]
° video
[She munches on the cheese curds as she looks at the sandwich in Claire's hand.]
...No. It's too big.
° video
[ She asks that with a short laugh. ]
It's a normal sized sandwich. Unless...well, unless you don't have sandwiches where you're from.
° video
[It's the silliest thing, but she takes it seriously. The smaller a food, the cuter it is, and she likes her food to be cute.]
° video
Would something this size be acceptable then?
[ Why is she doing this? She has no idea. ]
° video
[Some...somehow it never occurred to her?? to cut it???]
° video
Well, then, should I ever have the occasion to prepare food for you, I'll be sure to keep it small. My name is Claire, by the way.
° video
[She sounds both surprised and excited by this idea. But she gets over that quickly, as though people making her food is the most natural thing in the world.]
Bots aren't very good at cooking. I heard about the dining room, but it's kind of far away.
° video
[ Claire smiles softly. ]
My husband and daughter would likely warn you away from my cooking on a grander scale. But I am good at things like grilled cheese.
[ Casseroles, macaroni and cheese, things like that. Typical 60s mom fare. ]
And you're a...'bot?'
[ Is she human??? Is that a type of human??? ]
° video
[She turns the camera momentarily to take in the half-built robots littered around the room.]
You know, robots.
° video
[ Oh. She should have known, perhaps. ]
Forgive me, I'm not the most well versed in that sort of thing. I'm afraid where I'm from, electricity hasn't been thought up yet.
[ And even in the 1960s, Claire never really was curious about things like robots. The most science outside of medicine she's seen has been man going to the moon for the first time. ]
° video
[Entrapta sits back, finished with her cheese curds now.]
On Etheria our "electricity" is kind of more like magic, I think.
° video
[ She's curious, and also trying to make sure she's doing alright without sounding too overly-motherly. Not everyone wants that, after all. As a natural caregiver she can't help but probe a little. ]
° video
[Entrapta's definition of "nice" might be a little skewed--it basically encompasses anyone who isn't annoyed by her.]
° video
[ But if she finds enough to occupy her, hopefully she won't run into the same issue. ]
I'm Claire, by the way. I'm not sure I ever introduced myself.
° video
I'm Entrapta! I'm the princess of Drill.
° video
[ And for suggesting a princess eat grilled cheese, good Lord. ]
° video
° video
[ At least her modern life. Sometimes it's nice to have two centuries to draw from. ]
° video
° video
[ Foot in mouth is how Claire lives her life. ]
In my world, it's so rare that princesses are considered, well. Celebrities and everyone always wants to know what they're doing, what sort of designer clothes they're wearing, who they're dating. That sort of thing. With so many, I'm not sure it would be that interesting to the public.
