Log: day 57 (video)

[The camera feed comes on showing a somewhat skewed scene of half-built robots and several large monitors surround a central control panel. Then the view rotates as Entrapta adjusts the device. Now the background shows a rather tall, deep red crystal that has wires and cords attached to it.

In front of it all, Entrapta looks very happy, despite the fact that she also looks like she hasn't eaten in some time. There's just been too much to do!]

Okay. It's day 57! [Yes, she's been keeping count of the days since she arrived.] And I've been making a lot of progress in my work!

[For a second it might seem like she's going to be using this as a sort of video diary, but she quickly moves away from that nonsense to something more pertinent.]

What I need to know is how energy flows from this side of Wonderland to the other side. If it does at all. But it must, if the Core is able to process data from this side.

[She gestures with her hair as she speaks, the ends of the strands looking perhaps alarmingly like fingers and hands.]

If I can figure out that transfer of energy, I can probably connect the black garnet [a gesture over her shoulder at the crystal] directly into the energy source! I could potentially divert power directly from the Core and it could have all sorts of potential uses!

[For a second she looks like she's going to go on about some of those potential uses, but then her stomach growls loudly enough for the mic to pick it up. She falters and then looks kind of embarrassed for a second.]

Um, but first I should probably eat something.

[With that, she reaches out with one piece of hair to turn the video off.]

[Cisco watches the feed curiously, listening closely to what she's explaining-- and noticing what she isn't putting any explanation to at all, either. Color him intrigued.] That's a pretty ambitious project to take on, all on your own.

Is it? It seemed like a logical place to start!

[Baby steps aren't a thing for Entrapta.]

No, no, don't get me wrong. It's good. It's really good. [He assures her with a lazy sort of grin.] But Wonderland does have it's retaliations if you go messing too deeply into things sometimes. [Beat.] Not that I'm saying that should stop you, necessarily, but you know-- proceed with caution. It's energy, but it's magical in nature, too. [Another beat, and he tilts his head a little to one side, eyes squinting curiously.] Where'd you get that black garnet anyway?

I'm used to techno-organic magic, which seems different from the magic here, but I'm willing to bet it's not as different as it appears.

[She looks over her shoulder, then turns back with a huge smile.]

From the vendors! It's the actual black garnet! The one from the Fright Zone at home. They just plucked it out of my world and brought it here. It's like it was meant to be!

Techno-organic magic? [The way he echoes the term is coated in curiosity, and makes it very obvious he doesn't recognize it at all. His features fade into something of a shocked sort of understanding at that admission.] Oh. You gave up memories that easily? [He'd never even considered it. Not when the place was already going to be taking things of its own volition anyway.]

Yes! The tech the First Ones left on my planet is definitely organic in nature and it's also definitely magic. [And also definitely technology. Somehow.]

Memories? Oh! No. No no no. [Even she isn't that single-minded. Probably.] I had a coupon!

Interesting. [He's definitely intrigued. That comment earns her a bewildered look. Why did no one ever tell him this?!] There are coupons for the vendors?

Yes, I got it when I first got here. It was in the sock that had my name on it.

[She's referring to the Christmas stockings, of course, but having no analog for Christmas in her world, she doesn't know what to call it.]

It's a good thing, too, because the actual price of the black garnet would have been monumental.

Damn, I didn't pay enough attention to them... [He gives a facial shrug at the thought.] Then again, I really didn't expect to stick around, so it seemed sort of pointless at the time. I can imagine. Damn lucky you got it this way, then. It's kind of amazing. I'm definitely impressed.

[She smiles, but it's a bit pinched. She's not really used to compliments, or what she thinks are compliments.]

I'm going to be able to do so much with it! If Wonderland is anything like Etheria, a rune stone is going to do just the trick.

[Cisco doesn't seem bothered by it-- he gets it, actually. Compliments are really hard to take, sometimes.] It sounds really promising. You'll have to keep us updated on your progress, yeah?
