entranceway | [Video/Action] 09th Sunrise

[Kazuki's been wandering the halls today. As far as he's known, this place has been so absolutely quiet. He hasn't met many people, or seen any commotion... He's a bit depressed too. He's the kind of person that thrives on interaction, and there hasn't been much here to have.]

[He spots Ammy-- such a pretty white dog!-- scratching at the door.]

You need in, doggy?

[She turns at the sound of his voice, wags her tail a little, and then shakes her head. Ammy sighs.]

[She shook her head? Kazuki blinks a couple of times-- he must have been seeing things. Dogs don't understand people that well. But he does walk over and crouches down to her level, giving her a hand to sniff.]

[The wolf daintily sniffs his hand and then licks it. Her tail wags a little more. New friend?]

[Of course! Kazuki likes dogs a lot (and has been likened to one on more than one occasion). He smiles and gives her a good scratching around the ruff of her neck, when he's sure she's a friendly dog.]

Good doggy! Where're your people, huh?

[New friend get! She wags her tail happily.

At the question, Ammy shakes her head again. No people own her, which is probably a good thing.]

[Kazuki balks a bit at her reaction a bit; those headshakes were just too uncanny!]

Do you know what I'm saying?

[She does something like a grin as she nods.]

Woah! [He ruffles her ears!] Smart puppy!

[Ammy barks in agreement, tail wagging furiously.]

[Kazuki continues to give her a good run-over, ruffling her fur every which way.]

I'm glad I met you doggy. This place is all quiet and lonely! I can't stand going a day without being able to talk to my friends!

[She looks like she's agreeing with him, and is very much enjoying the attention.]

[Back to having pretty red markings again, Ammy. Minato approached her, glancing at the door too before kneeling and gently petting her head. (If that is totally okay since, you know, goddess and all.)]

Ammy?

[Pets are always wonderful. She sighs, wagging her tail in greeting.]

I'm sorry. A friend of mine left for a second time, and we lost so much more than just him. The mansion is starting to feel...big.

[Minato nodded a little. He knew that feeling.]

You don't have to apologize. [It wasn't her fault either.] Maybe they'll come back.

Part of me hopes so, but the other part hopes that they stay home. After all, their world needs them for one reason or another. It feels sort of...selfish of me to want them here when there's need for them elsewhere.

[Feelings are confusing, Minato.]

It's normal to feel that way.

[They wouldn't be "feelings" if they weren't confusing or complicated on some level.]

I'm not sure I like it.

[She sighs.]

I'm no stranger to loss, but I can't say I've ever lost a friend twice.

[Minato didn't ask her to like it. It's just what it was, and also normal to experience loss. She knew that already though like she said. Minato petted her again as he spoke.]

We'll just hope for the best for them. Thinking of them keeps them alive.

[Ammy nods.]

Yes, I think that's all we can do in these situations.

[She stands up and there's a tiny glint of mischief in her eyes.]

Well, why don't we play outside? It's no use feeling sad about something uncontrollable!

[That was true. Minato nodded, not minding the suggestion.]

Let's go. It should be nice outside too.

[Amaterasu spins around and then bounds off toward the entrance of the mansion, already in good spirits again.]

[Whoa there, wolf goddess, hold up! Minato will just be casually making his way over to the front door with her, hands in his pockets. Koromaru would probably like hanging out with her too.

Once they were ready to go out, Minato opened up the door and went outside with her. Time to go play.]

[She runs in circles around Minato when they're outside. There is no dignity in this wolf goddess. She'll happily catch ~~and eat~~ any apples thrown?]

[Cute. Minato smiled and let her play. Well, at least there might not be any dignity now? Not that Minato really minds either because hanging out with a goddess is kind of all sorts of awesome anyway.

He got the hint though once they neared the orchards on their walk, picking up an apple that looked like it had just fallen from a tree. He brushed it off with his sleeve.]

Can you show me some of your Brush techniques?

[And then there will be the game of catch (since it's not exactly fetch if she's eating the thing she's fetching!)]

[Ammy nods and thinks for a moment.

Off to the side, away from the trees, what looks like a pretty big cherry bomb firecracker abruptly appears. After a couple seconds, it explodes, just like any other firework.

And it's not her fault if she gets hungry while playing with food~]

[Cool. That firecracker trick was pretty neat. She was a goddess though, so she had to have more abilities than that, but Minato was okay with what he was shown.

He kept his promise then, and making sure the both of them had enough room, threw the apple toward the open field.]

[The Lorax frowns into his screen.]

Is there something wrong, ma'am?

[Ammy wags her tail in subdued greeting.]

A few friends of mine have left. For one of them...this'll be the second time they've done that. I'm sad to see them go, but I know that their world needs them, so I feel a little selfish for wanting them to stay longer.

[She looks conflicted.]

[The Lorax nods a little.]

It's not selfish, exactly. You want them to stay for your own sake, not to spite what they could do to help back home.

[He strokes at his mustache, thinking.]

I think I know how it would hurt, though.

[Ammy gives him a doggy smile.]

Thank you. If I may ask, have you felt a loss like that?

...Of a sort.

Back home, I was summoned from elsewhere because a Truffula Tree was chopped down. Just before I left there and came here, the entire forest was gone.

And in a way, it's my fault.

How was it your fault? It can't possibly be your fault those trees had been cut down. I mean, you didn't have the ax in hand, right?

My job is to protect the forest. I didn't do that.

[Mamimi was just heading out to have another smoke. It's easier to stay lost in haze when you make your own. She's got a lighter in hand when she stumbles across Ammy. Someone nicer would notice that she looks sad. Or is trying to get in somewhere.

That someone is not her.

She tilts her head and goes for her camera. She's never seen anything like this before--

She steps closer, trying to get a good shot.]

[Ammy is absolutely oblivious to this person trying to take her photo.]

[She peers around the wall. Not very stealthylike. Like she's in a cartoon or something.]

[The flash might be on. Might catch the mirrors. She doesn't pay much mind. She looks awed. Like she's seen something amazing and not just...

A wolf pawing at the doors.

Like the narration said, something amazing.]

Ammy jumps with a yelp and turns to face the source. She gives the girl a very unimpressed look. It's not nice to scare someone like that!]

Eep!

[She doesn't bolt, so much as fall down. Hey it's scary when giant white wolves who may be Gods suddenly turn at you.]
