Huh? Oh, yeah, sure.

[He pulls it out, keeping a firm grip on it, but lifts it up enough so that he can see it. It's a simple key, somewhat rusted, like it's a house key of sorts.]

[Souji looks at it closely, then thinks about this. The door should match the key at least a little. So... It's probably a pretty generic door. The kind to an apartment or padlock.

He leaves the library, making sure Adachi follows and starts to search the halls.]

[He follows along with a sigh. Sticking to the task at hand was hard sometimes.

The door itself can be found in one of the halls and is, indeed rather generic, like an apartment door. It probably wouldn't be noticeable! . . . if it didn't have "CAUTION" tape stretched over it.]

[The caution tape makes Souji stop right away.]

This is it. [He has absolutely no doubts.]

[Adachi stops as well and instantly makes a face.]

I'm getting to it, geez.

[He pulls the key out of his locket and attempts to slip it into the lock. The key fits in perfectly.]

[Souji looks from the key to Adachi expectantly. Go time, y/y?]

[He hesitates for a moment, although it seems more out of annoyance than anything. Heaving a sigh, he pushes the door open.]

Whatever this is, let's not make too big of a deal out of it, alright?

What do you think I'm going to do?

[Try to convert you? Jeez.

Souji follows him in.]

[Oh, look, it's a memory playing out. In fact, it's this one.

How pleasant.]

[Souji doesn't respond because the memory starts up. He's silent while it plays out, watching the faces of his friends throughout. When it ends, he looks over at Adachi.]

That isn't exactly a secret anyway.

Talk about anti-climactic.

. . . I shouldn't complain, but c'mon!

Something that was not that.

Some parallel world where you triumphed? A future with your victorious comeback?

I don't really care about that. I know neither of those would ever happen, so what's the point?

At least you didn't see something you didn't want to see. Just something that made you uncomfortable.

I didn't want to see anything. I was hoping it'd be a thing. I guess that's dumb since we have the closets, but come on.

I don't know. See, that's the fun part about receiving something! You don't really think about what you're getting, so it's a surprise.

[Souji steps back out into the hallway.]

Now no one will bother you about your key.

[Adachi follows him, closing the door behind them.]

And you owe me one. I'd say I got a few things out of all of this.

[The door disappears behind them. Souji, meanwhile, was hoping that part would be forgotten.]

You know I won't do some things.

[He still wasn't quite sure what he wanted, but just having it was enough. It was all harmless fun, after all.]

Weeeeell, we'll just have to see what comes up, right?
