I. video/action (dated to the dawn of July 23rd)
[ The video opens in darkness, the only sound to be heard the gentle movement of waves lapping against the shore. However, the very moment a tinge of light begins to creep over the horizon, a Voice begins to sing.
It is a Song the likes of which few have ever heard before. It rises as the light grows stronger, swelling with the tide and soaring as a bird may fly. It resonates in the air as well as the earth, a happy sound that could make even the most solemn of men dance to its melody.
The brightness of the morning spills over the waves, glistening with the newness of day. The Song crescendos finally as the sun peaks in the sky, only to diminish and fade into the sounds of the sea.
A few moments pass before the Singer finally appears. Great paws, golden and velveted all, appear first as he steps into view. A large, shaggy lion pads silently to the water edge, the breeze rustling its mane.
He stands there for a little while before turning and walking down the beach. ]
[ ooc: Please have a look at Aslan's PERMISSIONS POST before tagging! Aslan will be wandering around the beach as well as the outside part of the grounds all day. Feel free to run into him! He will respond to this video as well. Also, if you think your character might be able to detect/discern Aslan's true nature, feel free to have them do so! ]

[He looks into those golden eyes, not flinching from the stare. There is weight in it, yes, but it is not a weight from which he shrinks. Sephiroth knows beyond any shadow of doubt that this creature knows more about him than even he may know, but that fact matters much less than perhaps it should. There is a sense of safety here in regard to his secrets, and it is somehow... comforting.]
Yet bear it I will.

[ A cautionary word for someone of a stubborn mind and spirit. Though he does not press or impose as others might, if he believes something needs to be said, he does so without hesitation.
He doesn't blink as he considers the other. ]
A Man who climbs to the top of a mountain alone sees many great sights and wonders. The voices of others do not trouble him for he stands higher than the rest.
When the storm clouds gather, who then, will catch him if he falls?

[Sephiroth finally shows something of humanity: his eyes close in a long blink and his head bows the slightest bit. It is all he will allow himself, in both action and expression, because he cannot, will not allow himself to break.
When the storm clouds gather, who then, will catch him if he falls? Sephiroth shakes his head; it is almost as if a headache is oncoming, with the way the lion's words reverberate and trigger memory.
If you came from Nibelheim, why was I not with you?
...You fell. A week after we got there.
...No. No, he cannot allow himself that weakness; it is unfair to Zack.]
Sometimes one man must fall so that others may continue to stand.

Hurt is not exclusive to humanity, and even those who try to hold themselves above it are not immune to its effects. ]
Son. [ The word is a soft rumble, gentle and laced with warmth for all that it demands attention. ] Grief is great to those who shoulder the burdens of others in addition to their own. They bear it for a time, but it grows heavier with each passing mile.
[ He looks at Sephiroth, and if the man chooses to meet his gaze, he will see a sadness there so real and poignant, it's as if he feels the depths of the Sephiroth's hurt just a vividly (if not more so) than he does. ]
It is not good for a Man to be alone.

It is a strange thought, as strange as is the thought that one he just met could know him so well.]
To be so has been the summary of my life. [Which had always been, if not a point of pride, at least one of efficiency: Sephiroth is a natural leader, groomed into the role from a young age. His men respond to him in part because he is such a solitary pillar: one man who can do many great feats is inspirational, in a way. And the concepts of "opening up" and "having friends" are still uneasy topics for him.]
A man has a burden, and he knows that another man would help him bear it. But he knows too that the second man helps many bear their burdens as well, enough to bow his back almost to breaking. The first man cannot in good faith ask him to bear one more, when it can be borne alone instead.

The man makes a good point, and Aslan knows of whom he speaks. Still, there is something to be said for trust -- for a willingness to lean and by leaned upon by others.
A great many tragedies have come about for a lack of communication. ]
Should you not trust him enough to allow him that decision?
[ He says it softly, a gentle rebuke in those words. It is the will of a friend to help another, after all, and such burdens should not be borne alone. ]

[Which does not surprise Sephiroth, not as much as when he had first realized it. But his trust of Zack does run that deeply; it is why he respects that though his lieutenant will always be there to help, Sephiroth will not overburden him with truths that are hard to hear. It is best for him to keep his silence about what has been revealed to him; perhaps he can find out more and perhaps not, but he knows he need not burden Zack unnecessarily.
He is still trying to decide how he feels about it all anyway.]
There may come a time when I feel it is right for us to talk. But that time is not now, not when he is so burdened.
