[The voice on the radio network this time is different. A bit like Cecil's--the same magnetism, the same charisma--but different. Much cheerier, for one thing.]
The tragedy of spiders is that their kisses are poisonous to humans. Welcome...to Desert Bluffs.
Good day, listeners! It's another fine, beautiful day here in Desert Bluffs, isn't it? The sky is blue, the sun is bright, the trees move and creak and plunge their roots into our foundations and windows and hearts. I'm so glad I get to share another wonderful day with all of you, listeners.
There sure have been some funny things happening around here lately. Oh, not funny in a bad way. It's funny because, wouldn't you know it? Something like this has happened to me before! There was a great sandstorm that turned the whole town into all the pinks and reds and yellows of the desert. Our doubles appeared then as well. What a day it was! All of us laughed and embraced our doubles; all of us extended the hand of camaraderie and friendship. We came to an important realization that day, listeners. We realized that we are not alone, no, that we are never alone. We are always separated from each other, from our other selves, by only the thinnest of margins. Our skin is their skin. We bleed their blood. The atoms of the universe brush tenderly against one another, whispering secrets like children on a playground. It's beautiful, isn't it, Desert Bluffs? It is beautiful.
And I'm just so glad that it's happening here as well! And it's happening just the same. Everyone is so loving and compassionate; I've seen so many people, just in the past day, working alongside their doubles, laughing and talking and helping one another! You can't see it with the naked eye, but they all hold hands or sling arms over shoulders. We know that beyond the borders of our little town, things aren't always this easy and innocent. There is such strife out there. No one gets along, you know? If only we could share this friendship with everyone.
Now, before I continue, I just have a few quick words from our sponsor! Strex Corp wants to remind all of you that there's going to be a huge bloat dog sale this weekend! Make sure to get on down to your nearest Strex Corp Outlet Store to get yourself a bloat dog before supplies run out. Not a bloat dog person? Haha, well, whyever not? Buy a bloat dog. Love a bloat dog. Touch a bloat dog. Understand a bloat dog. Buy; love; touch; understand: Strex Corp.
Do you know what I'm most thankful for right now, Desert Bluffs? I'll tell you. I'm most thankful for Cecil. I finally know his name! I remember meeting him on that day that I mentioned...it seems so long ago now that we ran into each other and embraced in that void between worlds. But sadly, we didn't have too much time to talk. So I'm so glad for the opportunity to talk to him at last! We've been trading stories; we have a lot in common! Hey, Cecil? What are you most thankful for right now?
[Strangled, sobbing noises in the background.]
Awww, Cecil, that's so sweet of you to say! You know, I completely agree. Well, there you have it, listeners. I say, enjoy the time you have with your doubles, and enjoy it to its fullest. Talk, share, open your hearts and minds and livers and let them in. I guarantee you that you will find yourself changed...for the better. Until next time, Desert Bluffs, I leave you with...the weather.
