[The feed cuts on to reveal a young boy. His curly blonde hair seems to have an almost ethereal glow about it and he's wearing a look that, while innocent in appearance, clearly hides something mischievous as made evident by the gleam in his bright blue eyes. His accent is English and, despite the fact that he's clearly somewhere in the preteen age range, it's obvious when he starts speaking that things like proper grammar and pronunciation are not important concerns of his.

He also sounds ridiculously casual given the circumstances.]

So I reckon I ought to start with an introduction. Seems only polite. [a bit of shuffling] My name's Adam. That's Adam Young, to be 'spific. [a pause as he absently scratches the side of his nose] And any other time I'd have my dog with me but for some reason he's not here. [there's a hint of a frown at that and he mutters a little under his breath] Which ain't all that right, if you ask me. If you ask me, you can't just up and kidnap a boy and not bring his dog, too. [a pause and he clarifies] Not saying they should bring Dog here, 'course. Just saying it's not right, is all.

[A shake of his head and he smiles sweetly for the camera once more.] Still, suppose it's likely for the best and there's no real changing it no how. [Well, there is, but he's only just arrived. Probably best he not start changing things up too much.]

What I really want to talk about is this place and what you lot know about it. Anything'll do. I just figured I ought to get some facts sorted before I start working things out on my own, is all. [A slight pause.] Uh… and that's it for now. Thanks!

Well, I imagine they can't get out either, but since they're from here, I doubt they really want to.

::He makes a face.::

Most of us, on the other hand, would rather go home. And have some control over it so we can keep our memories of people we meet here.

[Adam considers this idea for a moment.] I don't reckon it'd be all that hard, letting folks keep memories when they go back home. Seems to me it might be good for some of 'em. [A pause before he clarifies.] Not saying that is has to happen, course. Just that it's not a bad idea, is all.

When we get sent home, we don't remember having been here. And people that come back after enough time, don't remember having been here at all.

Yeah, that's not fair at all. [He looks contemplative then seems to shake whatever hew as considering away and grins.] Still. I reckon it's nice, getting to meet folks you wouldn't, otherwise.

You're telling me. I had to go through the 'Welcome to Wonderland' with one person three times so far because she didn't remember either of the first times.

::He pinches the bridge of his nose.::

If there's a fourth time, maybe I'll just shove a recording of the basic rundown at her.

That's probly smart. I can't imagine it's much fun having to say the same thing to the same person again and again. That's too much like work, if you ask me.

Dunno about feeling like work, but it's certainly repetitive.

Oh, I dunno. 'Snot like I've ever worked or anything like that, just that I've heard folks complain how their work is boring and they do the same stuff over and over. [A shrug.] Either way, I don't think I'll be doing much explaining to others. Not if it stops being fun, least.

If they pick something they actually like to do, they won't find their jobs boring. Of course, not everyone can afford to do what they really want to do for a job and are stuck having it be a hobby instead. Or they don't have the aptitude.

[Adam looks thoughtful.]

Seems to me folks should be allowed to do what they want for a job even if they can't afford it. Seems to me that those who can't afford it are the ones who really need it the most, even.

[He pauses, considers something, then clarifies.]

M'not saying that's how it's got to be, course. Just that it makes sense, is all.

Because they'd need it for the sake of their own mental well-being?

Well, yeah. [Adam leans a bit closer to the screen; it's obvious by the animated way he's speaking that he's enjoying the chance to speak his mind on something new and different than the typical right vs. wrong sort of debate.]

I mean, if you got loads of money and can afford t'do what you want, then it should just be a hobby. But if you don't got the money, then you're most likely not as happy 'cause you're worryin' 'bout bills and taxes and all sorts of stuff. That's when you really need to like what you're doin', I think, 'cause at least you won't have all those worries on top of not much likin' what you're doin' everyday too.

[He hesitates and, once more, clarifies a bit. Just in case.]

But I don't reckon that's how things do work. Just that it might be nice if they did.

::Ed nods.::

It'd be nice if things work that way, but unfortunately, they don't. Where I was before I ended up here, while what I was working on was interesting, it wasn't what I really wanted to do.

::He snorts.::

What I really wanted to work on doesn't even work on Earth.
