[ Hannibal does not make himself known on the network right away. He instead explores, reading what he can and figuring out exactly where he is. Wonderland. He's not above believing in what was once thought impossible, so long all the evidence fits. God works in mysterious, cruel ways after all, and Hannibal takes it in stride. He takes a day to officially announce his arrival. Making a move on the board without knowing what game you’re playing is be naive at best, but more likely just plain stupid. His device is comfortable enough in his hand, like the familiar shape of his ipad, and he’s already scrolled through, until he found he understood the situation well enough. Only then, after learning what he could and checking his person suit in the mirror does he show himself. It’s a video, and Hannibal is the model of concerned professionalism. ]

Good evening, my name is Doctor Hannibal Lecter, and it seems that I’m what you might call a new arrival. I’ve combed through the archives and believe that I have a good understanding of the situation at hand. While I do find it terribly rude that I have been torn from my home without the courtesy of an invitation, one can hardly expect such a formality from any higher power.

[ Not that he considers himself to be lesser in any way, but it’s curious, and he keeps the thought to himself, as he does so many others. He then pauses for a moment with his tongue to the roof of his mouth, choosing his words, before continuing. ]

It seems that I’m not alone in being pulled from my world into this one, so I find myself somewhat obligated by my profession to provide you all with a warning. There is a man here now, another new arrival, by the name of Will Graham. While I do consider him to be a friend and a good man, he has a history of mental instability and is currently on trial for multiple murders. I would suggest exercising caution in his presence and referring to me should you have any questions or concerns.

[Do you see that waters of being genuinely concerned in his eyes? Good. ]

[ as soon as hannibal introduces himself, clarisse has to fight not to laugh. wow, what a nutjob, this guy actually thinks he's hannibal lecter? yeah right. ~~he looks nothing like anthony hopkins.~~ he goes on about mental instability, but really clarisse is beginning to think he's the one that's mentally unstable. ]

Yeah, sure. I'm thinking maybe we should exercise caution around you, "Dr. Lecter."

[ yes, those are finger quotes. can you tell how much she doesn't believe you. ]

[ For once, someone has caught Hannibal by surprise. He doesn't know what she's talking about, or why she might be wary of him. He frowns, for a split second ice cold. ]

And why would that be, miss...?

[ He's waiting for your name, kiddo. ]

[ clarisse should probably be afraid of that look, but her dad is ares, probably the most terrifying god to have for a dad. there's not a lot she's afraid of in comparison to him and his imposing glares. ]

Yeah, nice try. I tell you my name, you're just gonna say the stupid line. Like I haven't heard that one before.

[ thanks, mom and dad. ]

And what line would that be?

[ His patience may be strong, but his memory is stronger. Welcome to the rolodex, Clarisse, he just needs your name. ]

Oh, come on, like you don't know the line. "Hello, Clarice"?

[ even though it's definitely "good evening, clarice," but who cares. everyone misquotes it anyway. ]

Jeez. You can't go around calling yourself Hannibal Lecter if you don't even know the line.

[ Hold that thought. His mental pen stalls against his list of the rude, considering for a moment. She might be unstable, dissociating from reality and creating a fiction where he is not himself. In a place like this it's entirely possible. Unstable is many things, but it isn't necessarily rude. ]

I believe you may have me confused with someone else. Can you tell me how you know my name outside of our current conversation?

[ clarisse rolls her eyes. wow, this guy is really playing it for all he's got. ]

No, I'm pretty sure you have you confused with someone else. Haven't you ever seen Silence of the Lambs?

[ she blames luke for the fact that she's seen it at all. he wasn't always an evil pantheon-betraying dickwhistle. his taste in movies might have been a little weird, and she probably saw the movie way before the age she should have, but hey. movie night at camp half-blood was always one of her favorite things. you know, back before everything changed. ]

I can't say I have. Now is that a book or a film?

[ The thing is, of course, that Hannibal has read the pamphlet. The possibility that she does know who he is from some other source material, that he might be in some universe fictional, has indeed occurred to him. The question is, though, how much about him is in this particular source. It wouldn't be good to have his history lying around for anyone to read now would it? ]

[ oh lord this guy says ~film~ gods help her. clarisse has to consciously stop herself from rolling her eyes. ]

I don't know, I think it's based on a book? But I've only ever seen the movie. Reading is for losers.

[ who wants to waste time reading a book when you get instant gratification from a movie? ]

[ Mhm. He smiles, politely. ]

Well thank you, Clarisse. I'll be sure to look into that.
