[ Sometime between downing the last of his rum and lowering the empty bottle, the scenery around him had abruptly shifted. There was suddenly no tang of salt to the air, no cool breeze on his face, or the quiet bobbing of the dinghy over calm ocean waves. Nope. Instead, in its place, was solid ground, the warmth of indoors, the mild scent of incense permeating the air. And an immensely puzzled pirate captain, now presently sitting on the smooth floor of the Entrance Hall.

Jack took a couple moments to process this abrupt change -- glancing side to side with a furrowed brow -- then patted himself down to check that his effects were still on him. The network device was discovered thereafter, buried in one of his coat pockets. Jack let out a curious: 'oh!' and proceeded to investigate it, turning it over and sideways and around a few times. Then, for a couple minutes, he watched the network -- and all the strange voices and faces that flashed across it -- with a mildly perturbed expression.

Eventually it's by some miracle (AKA the random, accidental press of buttons) that the video is actually turned on. And then it's only mid-sentence, of course, and with half of Jack's face filling the entirety of the feed: ] -- bizarre contraption or somewhat of the sort. [ When Jack speaks, a couple words here and there are accented with a flash of silver from his teeth. The view shifts, then, and the pirate peers closer. Enjoy that extreme close up of one suspicious, squinting, kohl-framed eye, everyone. ]

Blimey. This is a dream, i'n'it? [ An expectant beat, then: ] Ah. Well o' course it is, what else could it be. [ The feed draws back, and one can see the corner of his mouth twitch, upper lip slightly upturned. Jack lifts the empty bottle in his hand, watching the last few drops dribble out. ] Not a particularly fantastic dream, mind you, given the most recent and appalling deficit of rum. [ The view shifts away to the ceiling of the Entrance Hall as he sets the device down, and Jack continues. ] Could be much better, too, really, with all things considered.

[Sadly, Wonderland has a blatant disregard for anyone's plans, it seems.]

You should be able to find it in the manor. I think I recalled seeing some in the foyer. And possibly the kitchens.

[ Apparently. And it's totally not cool.

He hasn't moved from his spot yet, and it looks like a little exploring is in the works. ] Sure enough. [ He cracks another half-smile. ] You've me gratitude, Miss ... ?

Natasha. Natasha Romanoff. And you are?

[She knew who he appeared to be, and considering the number of people she'd run into here so far, the word 'impossible' was quickly flying out the window]

[ The one and only. ]

Captain Jack Sparrow, if you will [ and with the way Jack says 'captain', one can tell there's a bucket load of ego pride behind that title ]. It's a pleasure, Miss Romanoff.

The pleasure is mine, Captain Sparrow.

[She can't help but grin at his ego pride and in a way he reminds her of Tony. Although god help them all the day those two meet, she doesn't want to imagine it.]

If there's anything else I can offer in assistance, let me know, although I'm afraid I'm stuck in the same situation you are, so my help can only extend so far.

[ Oh no what room could even hold that much ego? ]

You've been a doll, luv.

[ Then a short pause, finger waving, as if he'd forgotten something: ] Oh, perhaps one more thing. [ Then a grin that mirrors her own. ] How about you join me in a drink? Doesn't seem entirely proper to meet only through a tell-e-phone [ yep Jack totally just learned this word ].

A drink? [She arches an eyebrow, looking amused by the invitation, but she cocks her head to the side and pretends to consider it for a moment before answering.] I suppose I could be persuaded.

Aye. Kick our feet back, knock down a few drinks, and commiserate on our decidedly unfortunate situation. I promise, you'll not regret it.

If I thought I'd regret it, I wouldn't have agreed in the first place. There is a bar here. And the magical closets make the alcohol selection nicely varied.

[ Magical closets. That sounded a touch far-fetched to him by the brief look on his face. But either way, it'd be nice to know a little more about his surroundings and, more importantly, where the bar would be located. ]

It's settled then. To the bar?

[She understood the sentiment behind that look - shared it even - all too well. He hasn't seen the half of it yet.]

[ A small incline of his head, smile on his face, then the feed cuts. ]
