first dream | video/action.
[ bran stark has been told through all of his life that his family's curse is just that--a curse. growing up with the lidells had not been a bad life, save for a terrible fall that left him crippled from the waist down, but it was often a lonely one. while the family was big, they only had each other, and they lived that way because their curse wouldn't allow them to touch anyone who was their opposite gender, or a terrible thing would happen.
but here was the thing: for bran, it wasn't that terrible.
when he bumped into a girl in the middle of the hallway, it had only somewhat been an accident. he didn't quite recognize her, but bran was thrilled with the puff of smoke that followed, because he left his wheelchair (and his clothes) far behind. for as a raven his legs were still useless, but his wings?
his wings stretched on, catching the wind above the great house they've been spending their time in and sailing out through the windows. whoever he ran into would simply have to wonder where he'd gone, as when he was stuck as a raven? well, he could fly.
so, he does, out of the window and through the skies towards the tallest part of the mansion. he used to love to climb as a kid, and this is that but a thousand times better, and he soars through the mansion, ducking down to tug on the occasional dog's tail, feeling light and, well, free as free could be.
all that comes to an end though, and when bran feels the pull of being human again, he alights down on top of the roof. there's a poof and he's back to normal--and very stuck. he sends out a video message that shows just his face, showing a skill with the device that definitely wasn't there before today. there are six or seven ravens around him, just visible in the video feed, cawing and occasionally picking at his hair. bran seems completely unbothered by them as he speaks.]
Hullo. [ how to start this. ] I'm, um. Stuck on the roof. Would someone be able to help me?
[ how embarrassing. ]
{ this will serve as a catchall for the event! if you don't want to reply to the video post that's more than fine--just lemme know you want something different! feel free to run into him as either a raven or a person, although there isn't much "running into" to be done to a kid in a new wheelchairthat i can assume he got since this is an AU event ♥. }

She always made all kinds of exceptions for Bran.]
I can come give you a lift, if you like.
[She smiles, though there's something just a touch bittersweet about it.]
I'd give you your wings back if I could.
[ he doesn't doubt she would be, but it is rather high for most people. bran figured out quite a while ago he's probably not most people. her second statement makes his brows pinch together and the smile disappears--he just nods his head a little bit, squeezing the device in his hands. ] I should have flown down sooner, I'm sorry.
[But the roof is a great place to kick back and enjoy a late-night beer with a friend, if you're so inclined. She's done it once or twice; she's always been athletic, thankfully, and her spook-hunting adventures have ensured that she keeps herself in good shape.]
I can grab some clothes for you and head up in a minute. Do you remember where you left yours?
[He apologizes, and she shakes her head immediately. No, none of that.]
Don't be sorry. We've all made the same mistake. I get it, you know?
[ at least it should be, though he can't imagine why anyone would want to run off with a wheelchair. bran looks a little less cowed, but nods his head; he can't help that feeling of uselessness that rolls up in his stomach every time he has to be "rescued" from something. he shouldn't fly as far and as high as he does, because his siblings can't always be there to save him, and he does need saving. for as much as bran wishes he didn't, he does. it's upsetting, though he hasn't often mentioned that much to jo and james--not since the fall and immediately after, anyway. ] ...thank you.
[Literally. One nice thing about the curse it that it's easy for her to track her brothers or anything belonging to them that they might have misplaced, though she doesn't appreciate that talent quite so much when they're in need of baths.]
You don't ever have to thank me. You should know that.
[She smiles, trying to encourage confidence, and the video feed begins to bounce a little as she starts to move.]
I would do the same thing for James.
but he does return the smile, faintly, nodding his head. he can't help it, because he's always been polite, and his siblings always take care of him better than anyone ever could. ] Is it true he likes a girl?
[ bran is eleven years old, most girls still have cooties. ]
[Her smile broadens, and there's something about it that's distinctly teasing, though it's meant for their absent brother rather than Bran himself.]
If I weren't around, the both of you would forget to screw your heads on straight. Can't convince me otherwise.
[His question catches her by surprise, however, and she has to bite at her lower lip to stifle a laugh.]
Maybe. Where did you hear that?
wrinkling his nose as the feed moves, he flickers his gaze away. ] In a letter. He kept mentioning a girl named Lily.
[ nothing directly about liking a girl, but...bran knows his brother. ]
[James doesn't have to spell it out for her. She's close enough to him to know that Bran is absolutely right, whether James will admit it or not -- though she happens to have had confirmation. He trusts her with his secrets.]
I think he does. We can't tell anyone though, okay? Alice can't know -- neither can cousin Hannibal.
though there is a very big difference, and his brow crinkles for a second. ] But she's a girl.
[ and girls and boys do things like kissing and hugging and all kinds of things they can't do. ] I'd never tell a soul, Jo, I promise.
[She smiles warmly -- he really hadn't needed the reminder, but the situation made her uneasy enough that she'd had to say it out loud. Just in case. Just to make herself feel better.]
Why the sour face?
[That smile hitches up a little higher in one corner, lopsided.]
Worried about James getting cooties?
[ romance is complicated enough for a ten year old. throw in a curse and it just gets even worse. ] And we haven't met her, either.
[In theory, yes, if James can make it happen. It's entirely possible, isn't it? And whether or not Alice would allow it, James was stubborn. Jo knew her brother. If he wanted something, he wouldn't stop until he got it. For the most part, they had that in common.]
I'm sure we'll meet her soon. Think we should ask him to bring her by for dinner sometime?
