002; VIDEO.
[There's a couple of reasons Peter is making this post before his falls off the page.. One, he'd like to assure people here that he's not some sort of crazy gun wielding dick - most of the time.
Two, Rocket had said, point blank. These are your people and apart from occasionally wondering what had happened to his grandpa and grandma he hadn't given earth a second thought. When you live on a space ship full of aliens, you spend most of your time figuring out how to survive. Missing home wasn't really something he'd considered. Especially since Yondu let him drive a space ship. At ten.
Three, ...He's bored. He's bored as hell and there's nobody with any tech worth this side of a Flarkin's tit to play with. Nothing to steal. Nothing to do.
So here's Peter. In a ninja turtle shirt looking thoughtful.]
Hey uh...Wonderland.
So this one goes out to all my fellow terrans. [pause] Humans. It's a habit.
...I am in the market. For pop culture recommendations. Specifically relating to the period between 1989 and uh...2014. Movies and TV shows specifically. Stuff to watch.
[someone introduce him to the wonder that is video games]
Cause space. Has a serious lack of good TV shows. I mean the day that humanity actually gets into space our biggest contribution will literally be amazing television. Xandarian TV, while nice, has a real lack of car chases, fight scenes, and punches.
Also uh.
[here he shifts]
So this goes out to anybody specifically from my earth. That's the one with Captain America. Cause he's here. [And holy shit that was weird in and of itself.]
[He swallows.] What're you guys watching?
[How is earth. He's just going to sit here and nod. Curiously.]

[Recently Fitz has discovered that it's a lot easier to communicate with people when he doesn't use video.
So let's see if he can actually hold a conversation, yeah?]

Captain America is in your world? What about Iron Man?

[wow. the irony isn't lost on him] Captain america's an old comic book hero. He was a real guy supposedly too but like, he died...I thought.
And I remember the comic books.

[ He's disappointed. ]
He was real in my world.

Wow there's...responsibility with other kids. I mean at least the kids - he's sort of stared at aren't his and have parents. Aren't human.] I'm sorry dude.
He sounds pretty cool.

alright, so it's not nearly as cool as the ninja turtles. just forgive her for attempting to find logic in anything he just said. )
So where you like an astronaut back home or something?
( she wants logic, but doesn't attempt to hide the disbelief written all over her face. )
video;
Nah. I wanted to be.
Well. Okay I guess I could be. I'm... [a rule breaker] considered one. Could be considered one.
I left earth years ago. I live in space.
Nice dress.
video;
Thanks.
( ordinarily that would be her cue to get self-conscious because hey teenage girl. but she's a little too distracted at the moment. )
So you're a human, who isn't an astronaut, but you lived in space?
( can you hear the mass amount of skepticism there, peter? she isn't bothering to aim for subtlety. )
That makes total sense.
( just like everything else here. )
Would it be too personal to ask how it happened?
( sorry, quill. it's just not a thing where she's from. )

best way to put it honestly.

Action kinda guy, huh? [Gabriel taps his chin in thought for a moment.] Might have a few I could recommend. First I've gotta ask. Why such a specific time period?

I left earth. Came back. Looking to catch up with TV and beer.

If you’ve been in space, Star Trek might kinda be old news, but it’s worth a watch. Protip though – avoid the newer Star Wars movies. Horrible stuff right there.

People mentioned it vaguely, or "prequels". Leia (read: Skye) had mentioned prequels and he's just going to keep staring]
Okay the only thing that could make a star wars would be like, if it were populated with annoying costars or like, kids or something.

allison smiles when she's finally got her video going, pulling on an easy enough mask. just keep on trucking, right? ]
There's a whole lot of movies that came out...after 2010 I think about superheros. Batman, superman, Captain America, Iron Man. They're all pretty great for fight scenes and stuff like that. [ she likes them, but that's not saying much. her taste in movies is...somewhat stilted in that direction. ]
If you're into searching by like, actor or something, my friend and I both would recommend Harrison Ford. The Indiana Jones series, Blade Runner, Star Wars... [ okay, she's only looking a little sheepish, but she's telling herself she has to do this because stiles can't, isn't here to. ] Top Gun, Con Air and Independence Day are all my dad's favorites, but if you're from space I don't know what you'd think about Independence Day. A lot of car chases, explosions, all that sort of stuff.
I'm not really big on TV though, so I don't think I'd be a lot of help. Sorry.
Re: video »
[He considers all of these choices, writing a couple of them down. Superman - okay. Captain America...]
Captain America's a real person.
[apparently. He pauses] Like he's here. My grandpa would have had a fit.
[He got his mom turned onto the comics and that's safer then talking about how she had honestly probably hoped some of Steve Rogers's goodness and his friendships would have rubbed off on her little Star Lord.] He was a huge fan.
Blade Runner I actually never saw. Star Wars though. I mean. [C'mon] Han Solo is the man. Harrison Ford is amazing.
[Calm down man. He considers this however] Let's pick one though and you can tell me the merits of it. Independence Day. what's it about?
video »
Yeah, here he is. He wasn't for me back home. [ or, well, real in the actual talking person sense. ] Comics and movies, yes, but not like- real real. Black Widow is here too, and a bunch of others.
[ but yes, back to the more important things. like harrison ford. ]
Blade Runner is very 80s, or...early 90s? [ shrug. ] It gets a little awkward at one point but the set is really cool. But yeah, definitely Indiana Jones too. The third one's the best one but you kind of have to watch the first two.
[ or don't, that's okay. allison will keep talking about harrison ford if she needs to. ]
Aliens invading the earth and wanting to kill humankind so they can use the planet's resources. The US decides to fight back and Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith save the day by riding an alien ship to the mothership and blowing it up. [ a beat, and then when she realizes that might not be the most amazing thing he's ever heard... ] It's really cool.

[Skye's face is the picture of distress.]
I am so sorry.
Re: [Video]
[she's STILL CALLING HIM SOLO SCORE.]
Prequels to what?
They made three more Starwars. Don't get your hopes up too much, they're not amazing but they're worth seeing at least once.
[ She pauses. ]
Mostly so when everyone moans about them you know what they're saying and why.
Though the lightsaber fights got awesome.

I am afraid I do not know what TV shows are, and that most of what you have mentioned is unfamiliar to me.
[There was a light frown, before she replaced it with a polite smile.]
As well as that I come from a time prior to what you speak of. But, pardon me, did you say space?
no subject
Big, black, full of stars. No sound in space too for some weird reason. [He shrugs] Ask me anything.
I can't promise I'll know it but I can try.
no subject
How are..I apologize, I am quite confused. How do you move through space uninjured?
[Vanessa was trying to figure out what object could allow one to travel through the stars, but she was having difficulty picturing it.]
