After a conversation a short while ago, I find myself wondering if anyone has ever made any attempt to organise a group of people willing to teach other capable individuals their combat skills.

[He had thought about simply doing it himself - he knows he can, but he will get nowhere by stepping on toes.]

If they haven't, then I'd like to begin. It won't be something suitable for everyone, but it should be available to everyone, should they want and be able to engage in it.

[Most of Nathaniel's observations tend to come across as venomous, whether he means them to be or not. There's the faintest narrowing around his eyes as he judges the response, entirely sure that he can't take anything this man says at face value.]

I don't know many who are.

I know how to mind my manners well enough.

[He's learned to take people's judgments of him with a grain of salt; his time with the Inquisition hadn't been easy, given southerners' predisposition to hate and fear those from Tevinter, and even he had to admit that they weren't necessarily wrong. For all that he loved his homeland, he knew that there was a great deal of truth to the stories told, and that their reputation had been earned, not fabricated. He was fortunate that his close proximity to the Inquisitor had helped to earn people's trust, but that trust was not absolute, and did not extend to everyone.]

If you're looking for some reference to my impeccable character, there are a number of people you could ask. I've been here a year now; I think you'll find I've done no harm to anyone in that time. Commander Cullen is sure to give me a glowing recommendation, and he was a templar.

You're going to do better than Commander Cullen if you're searching for someone likely to give you a personality reference. He and I don't entirely see eye to eye.

[As such, he would not be approaching him to ask about potentially suspicious Tevinters who only make themselves more suspicious by being entirely too gracious.]
