Alright, so I've got a question for you guys.

Do you or anyone you know have a bunch of experience with a sword or hand-to-hand combat? I was working pretty hard on it back home, and I'd rather keep that up while I'm here if I can.

[Alissa is grinning brightly as she responds, the device held in such a way as to show the sword hanging at her side. And a pinkish blur where her thumb is half-covering the camera but at least the important bits are still visible, right?]

I could use a sparring partner if that's what you're after. Hand-to-hand isn't my strong suit but maybe you can teach me a thing or two there.

[After all, you never know when you might be caught, stripped to your underwear and locked in a cell and need to disarm a guard so you can break out. She could use the practise.]

I've only been working on this combat stuff for a little while now, but I don't mind trying. It can't hurt, right?

Right! I mean, unless your sparring partners are the kind to be mean and kick the stuffing out of you then it will hurt... Which I'm not. Mean. Or planning to kick anyone.

Well, they can be mean, but they don't kick me when I'm down or anything.

[She laughs, the video wobbling with the movement.] Well that's a relief. I'd hate to think you're spending time with people who would kick you when you're down. Those are the bad kinds of training partners.

I practice out in the woods every day so if you ever want to join in you're welcome to. I can even give you a spare longsword... If you don't want to just get one from the magic, anything-dispensing closets for some reason.
