[Amanda should be in shock. And she probably is. But she's running on autopilot, so to speak. She has the vague memory of what happened, or was going to happen, and she doesn't want to think on it. What she and Nick had been going to do if--

So, she's not. She's not thinking about feelings. She's going into scientist mode. Which means asking questions about everything except herself.

When she appears on the feed, the fingers of the hand not holding her device are notably curled in slightly and fidgeting a little, like she's not sure what to do with them. Which she's not. She looks a little dazed, but she's smiling nervously]

Ah. Hello...I'm... not really sure who I'm addressing, I'm sorry. [she laughs a little, biting her lip for just a moment before continuing] My name is Dr. Amanda Perry. I'm from Earth, which I'm going to hazard isn't where I am now. If anyone could tell me...[she hesitates; she should ask how she got here, but she's afraid she won't like the answer, given her last memory] where here is, exactly, I would appreciate it.

Also, if there's anyone from Destiny here--[another noticeable pause. Does she ask for Nick specifically? No. Not yet] I'm all right. I'm...me. Which you can see, obviously, but…[she cuts herself off, because this could get depressing fast if she goes into details about that]

Anyway, ah...I'll appreciate any information anyone can give me. Thank you.

[As for the rest of her message, Tim's got...no clue what it means, honestly. Destiny isn't something he subscribes to as a concept, and I'm me can mean a vast, vast number of things. Things he generally doesn't think about.

Wonderland. Well, a few years ago I would have said that's impossible and insane, but now I'm willing to believe it.

Do I dare ask how this is possible, though? I don't recall falling through any rabbit hole or looking glass.

[she doesn't want to say what she does last recall, but that's neither here nor there right now]

You've found our network, congratulations. You're in Wonderland and if anything seems unreasonable or impossible from whatever laws of reality you're used to in your home universe, just roll with it.

I suppose that's not terribly surprising. Blackouts or amnesia tend to be a common trend in most involuntary displacements like this.

How many people are there here?

[Amanda has a faintly curious expression for a moment, then she laughs]

I'm actually fairly used to having to adjust my view on what is reasonable or probable in the universe fairly frequently these days. I'll admit this is forcing me to open my mind even more than usual, though.

Given the apparent name of this place, and its repute in my world, are you implying I should be steeling myself to...change size if I eat the wrong thing, for example?

[Ha ha amnesia boy that sure is a thing. A thing he definitely wouldn't know anything about no sir ha ha.]

hundred?? i don't know honestly it seems like people come and go.

few weeks ago this place was packed to the nines with people and then they all disappeared. most of them did anyway. i didn't and a few others didn't.

I haven't actually seen that specifically, but I haven't been here all that long, either. [ she does not put it past wonderland. ] Mostly it's things like alternates of yourself, memory issues, and a whole lot of different galaxies that all have Earth in them.

Wow. That's...both incredible and a little terrifying. Did anyone witness this mass exodus?

Alternates--are we speaking...true mimics, perfect copies, or..

[she pauses before she makes the Star Trek reference, because now that she takes in what she's passed in the halls a bit more, that seems more likely] ah--actually who we might be in another universe?

[she's not sure if that's a terrifying or heartbreaking thought, considering her own life, what her alternate universe self could be like]

Well, the different galaxies at least doesn't surprise me much, considering. I'm curious about the memory loss--it seems a bit paradoxical to know people are losing memories, although I'm sure there's quite a lot I'm not up to speed on yet.

i was one of the people that showed up with the others. there wasn't any real rhyme or reason to it? everyone just kinda up and disappeared all on the same day

i don't even know why some of us stayed.

Well, I suppose expecting traditional reasoning from Wonderland would be a little ridiculous in and of itself

Would you rather not? I mean, the involuntary nature aside, is being here just bizarre or properly dangerous?

i mean within the first week of me coming here something like ten people died so yeah i'd say it can be pretty dangerous.

It's Earth-similar in some ways if that's in any way comforting. The majority of the lifeforms here are Earth-based.

[it's not that comforting her to her. where it used to be annoying as all get out, now it just serves to remind her of what she's missing.]

[Amanda tips her head curiously, a hint of a smile on her face]

Well, I suppose it's comforting to suddenly find myself in a place similar enough that it at least supports human life I know that's never a guarantee with these sorts of things.

[does the mention her familarity with interplanetary travel now, or the fact this place can support life might be sort of moot to her now? She really doesn't want to go too far into either, for totally different reasons]

I...would suppose you're not in that majority, though.

[long pause. Of course, Amanda's genre savvy enough, she wouldn't have expected Wonderland to be entirely safe or even just benign in its tricks--she's heard enough of the darker retellings--but that's...something else]

Well. Thank you for that advance warning. I'll be as careful as I suppose someone can be in Wonderland.

[she doesn't want to bring up the fact the matter of dying might not matter now at all, nope, she's refusing to think about that]

kinda sucks, yeah. i think that might've had more to do with how many people there were here though.

from the way everyone talked about it i don't think it was normal.

Let me be the first to tell you that it's a prison and ain't nobody can tell me different.

I'm certainly not going to be arguing with you right away, especially considering the mysterious nature of arrivals from what I've observed so far, but do you have any other particular reason to believe that?

Well, one would assume that 'normal' is a very relative term in Wonderland, but I suppose that's a small comfort in a slightly disturbing manner.

He wouldn't find that comforting either. Then again, "comfort" as a concept is pretty far removed from what he's used to, just in general.]

So do we know if we have a limit, the proverbial nine lives, so to speak, or could someone conceivably feel secure messing with questionable wiring and that sort of think indefinitely?

[not that she would do that now, but she's trying to make light. Trying being the key word]

[As much as she can totally handle grumpy people and doom and gloom--the last few years of her life can attest to that--Amanda's really glad there's someone here who seems a bit less interested in telling her how this place could kill her. Again. The fact it's a child is a bit concerning, but Alice was a child, so that really shouldn't be surprising.

She laughs, and it's a lot less nervous than she has with other people] Ah, no, I'm not. I'm the kind who works on machines. Mostly programming and fixing certain parts of spaceships. [that should sound cool, at least. She thought it was cool when she was a child. And still does]
