deathlessness: (across the western sky)

ƒ 004 [voice/action] open } { i can’t promise to obey you, i can’t swear i won’t betray you

[The ambient sounds of Lux Deux is prominent in the background as the feed starts up again, and for a long time it is the only sound aside from the clink of the glass being moved against the bar while Freya tries to get her words in order. She’s ascertained from her siblings at this point that she’s been gone far longer than would be considered “normal” for Wonderland – if there ever was such a thing.

She could simply announce that she’s returned and leave it at that, let those who wish to seek her out come find her, but that has never been her way, and while she doesn’t wish to talk about herself, she’s curious about something else.]

A question for you, Wonderland, though it is a rather specific one.

[Her words are slow and deliberate, likely indicating the amount she’s had to drink at this point – enough to dull the events of the last few months spent home, but not enough to make her sloppy – and the sound of her placing the glass back down on the bar can be heard before she continues.]

At this point, I’m sure we’re all aware of the … complications, involving those of us arriving from different points in the same timeline. For those of us who have come here and then learned of our future before actually going home to live through it, what do you think was worse? The speculation of what was to come, or the events themselves?

[There’s a small scrape as the glass is lifted again.]

Would you prefer to have remained ignorant, or do you feel at peace having lived the truth for yourself?

[And she’ll have the device with her to answer replies, though if you would prefer to visit her in person, she would not say no to company either. She’s probably going to be at the bar for a while.]

Now? Yeah, they're both in one piece.

{At the time, he can't exactly say that, and they were all forced to shove some emotional shit out there just so they could find out Freya wasn't here. He's about to say no more locator spells. No matter who is missing, because if there stuff is around, they'll come back. He doesn't know that he can keep that promise though especially if Elena disappears again. And that's the whole reason they found out how dangerous it was]

I tried to accomplish this without Bonnie having to do the locator spell, but she didn't listen. She cares about you. [Obviously.]

So maybe try to emphasize that with your family so if Wonderland decides to pop you away again, we don't have a kidnapping 2.0 situation at hand.

[in general. it's hard to trust in an alliance when the people that they're allied with are so much more powerful, so much stronger. if they really want something, they can and will take it. he knows because he's been that sort of person.]

We're just lucky it wasn't worse this time.

No, of course you can't.

[Damon orders the whole bottle now, because why not? He takes hold of it, opening it, lifting it to drink deeply from it.]

So Bonnie's screwed over, Elena and Bonnie suffer, and it clearly doesn't matter to you, because you and you're family are all big and all powerful. When you're old as fuck, nothing matters to you so I can't really say I see the point.

[Damon makes a face when the bottle shatters in his hand. The glass falls on to the bar and the floor, and he lets out a long sigh between his teeth before he turns to Freya.]

I expect you to set boundaries with them. I expect you to give a fuck. If you're going to make friends with Elena and Bonnie, I expect it to matter to you when they threaten and hurt them, and if it doesn't, you might want to think about not making friends anymore.

[He's just throwing that out there, and the thing is Damon has learned, because he used to do that shit all of the time. He would snap necks because he could. He would express his feelings through violence because he has endless violence behind his fist.]

We're supposed to have an alliance and that alliance is currently completely meaningless, which I'm sure you don't give a fuck about either, because why should you? You're human, but you're a very powerful witch like your siblings are very powerful vampires.

No one else really stands a chance... so sorry for trying to expect something to be done about it even if it's just a whole lot of yelling.

I don't expect miracles. I know exactly what I'm getting into with the both of them.

[Damon has now lived through that particular time in Mystic Fall history enough to see the damage they can cause. He's aware of his own too. He doesn't fool himself ever into thinking that he's good. He's just better, and he wants to be better. He loves and he is loved, and he makes active steps to try to be better while still maintaining that asshole nature of his at heart.]

You're the wild card.
