My name is Georgette Marie Meissonier. Buffy to my friends. I'm a licensed fiction blogger with After the End Times. I'm using text format because, frankly, the video quality on the tech here is personally offensive to me and whoever designed all of this needs to sit in a corner and think about what they've done.

But, okay, enough of the tech tangent. For now.

[ She's not done with this subject, Wonderland. Not by a long shot. But she has bigger issues than the abysmal level of tech you're all working with. You'll be hearing more about this in the future. ]

I'm a little uncomfortable with this because facts aren't my wheelhouse. I make things up. On April 17th, 2040 I legally died because of well.. the usual reasons. Viral amplification. I shouldn't be talking. I shouldn't be doing anything.

I've looked at this network and in between being appalled at your complete lack of security I've read up on things. Everything about this reads like bad fiction.

i mean i guess we do. george had the same argument. pretty much everything worth knowing is right there public on the network, but i guess it's a good idea to compile it all.

[ The lights keep flashing but each cycle through hangs onto the green longer and longer. Buffy finally gives in and looks at them and swallows before forcing her eyes away again. She's seen enough of that for now. ]

Am I fired again even if I pass? I wouldn't blame you.

It doesn't. It feels like you're holding your breath, waiting for the hammer to fall except it lasts for weeks.

[ Do not mention the fanfic. Do not mention the essays you wrote about his character arc. Do not mention any of the fix-it fics you wrote for the more tragic parts of his story. ]

Does this happen often?

[ She wants to point out that print media is kind of obsolete and also has an undercurrent of untrustworthiness after all the cover-ups they performed during the rising but there is something much more important to focus on right now: ]

A fiction blogger. I like writing romances and poetry but I dabble in just about everything.

I do like building things. It's most of my job.

[ Or at least, it was. Before things happened. ]

It's not just news, it's entertainment. Newsies focus on facts while Irwins and Fictionals make things fun. How often do people share stories or do stupid things so others don't have to?

[It looks like it's settling towards green. George's stomach begins to unknot, though she doesn't step forward yet.]

That's a discussion. [It's not like they have another head of Fictional out here, and no one's better at the tech stuff. She doesn't fully trust Buffy, but all things considered, they do know in the end she chose the right side, and goddammit, George has missed her. She wants to say that of course Buffy still has a job, that she's still their friend, that things haven't been damaged irrevocably.

But she and Buffy are dead, and Shaun's crazy. Things can't just go back to how they were.]

Wasn't the same without you.

[Shaun pulls his eyes away from the lights that are steadily settling on green to look at Buffy's face. Things can't go back to the way they were, but Shaun wishes so much that they could. He doesn't look away from Buffy, but when he speaks, it's to George.]

I dunno, Boss. I'm thinking that if we hire her on, she can be the intern, and I can have my old job back.

Yeah? I could see that, though I would've guessed that you meant "worldbuilding" and not "techbuilding."

(Is that a word? It is now.)

[ This is probably the biggest comment she's gotten for something that isn't a story she wrote. It's nice, if old fashioned. The chance to focus on something is actually kind of a relief. Of course N. Scamander doesn't do much in the way of indicating a gender so she goes the safe way instead of assuming anything. ]

I don't mind answering questions so please, bother away. Talking about tech is something I'm good at.

As for your other question... viral Amplification means that I had an active virus from my world introduced into my body. It woke up the virus already in me and started a chain reaction. It's not a fun subject but it's something everyone grows up learning about in my time.

As long as you don't mind me asking questions about your era I'd be glad to share info with you.

[ This one... it takes her some time to respond to. It's the first video reply she's gotten and it's from a kid. It doesn't surprise her to see a kid talking about death, most kids her age have already long since been imprinted with the cultural fear of it. So Buffy takes the time to clean up and put on a better face before she replies to Mabel. Her eyes are a bit red but she doesn't look like she's been having a breakdown so it's good enough. ]

Hi, Mabel. I'm glad to meet you, too. Can you tell me what you mean when you say it doesn't stick?

Can't a girl like doing both? I can write a good story and rebuild a camera mount in the same day depending on how I feel.

[ The lights finally settle on a solid green and the test finally disengages the needles so Buffy can pull her hand free. She rubs her arm again, the same spot where Chuck took a chunk out of her. She's clean. She can still feel the ache but it's like someone turned back the clock to a point where things hadn't gone quite so wrong.

She looks up at her friends, or at least she still hopes they are, and smiles weakly. ]

When you can tell me how to build an emp jammer on low bands you can make me an intern. Don't forget who does- [ She stumbles midsentence, reality asserting itself and killing her smile. ] ...did your graphics.

The zombie apocalypse was years ago. Things have calmed down since then. We're post-rising bloggers.

There's Ellie and that old dude. Lachlan and his buddies.
