[The recording is, presumably, accidental. Souji himself is mostly out of frame, although his hands are visible as he works on putting together a plastic model. The thing is half finished and he's popping the remaining pieces out of their plastic casing when there's a sharp but quiet snapping sound.

He hesitates, puts the piece down. Or rather, puts two pieces that should be one piece down.]

...Damn it.

[He sighs and goes about seeing if he can glue the broken plastic back together without the break being too obvious.]

SD version? [ He's not just asking because he's trying to be polite here. He's actually seriously interested. ] Like standard? Because I've seen those larger ones. [ The ones in the giant boxes he'd seen being sold in some comic stores. Now those were cool. ]

[A slight shake of his head.]

SD is "super-deformed." [He holds up the box to show the picture on the front.] It's made to look cutesy, so the head is huge.

Oh. [ He kind of chuckles at the meaning. ] Yeah, I guess it is cute. Is it supposed to be easier to make than the larger ones?

There are fewer pieces, so it might be. It's not any sturdier than the larger ones, though.

[As we have just learned.]

Are you going to be able to fix that? [ It would be such a waste otherwise. ]

I think so. As long as it aligns right when the glue dries, it'll be fine.

[If not, he's got a lop-sided gundam chibi.]

Good to know. [ He's not sure now if he's got the skills enough to try building one of these, but it's not like he doesn't have plenty of time on his hands. ]

So if I were to try to get one of these gundam kits, what should I ask for? [ As in, from the closet. How else, right? ] Any recommendations for a newbie?

Hm...I'd say ask for one of the smaller ones. They're a little flimsier, but they're less complex.

So... a smaller Gundam kit. [ Hopefully the closet will know he's looking for something easy to start with. ] I should probably ask the closet for a catalog. [ Imagine working his way through the entire thing. ]

How many of these kits have you built?

Altogether? [He takes a second to think, looking to one side like he's counting something.] Counting the ones at home, probably a dozen or fourteen.

Wow. [ That's quite a few. ] You ever built those model airplanes before?

No. I've never tried a plane or boat. I should do one of those next.

Building a ship in a bottle would be cool. [ Guess with all this time they have on their hands, it wouldn't hurt to give just about anything a try. ]

I hope you manage to get that piece fixed.
