[Action, then video]
[How is this the weirdest part of the last three weeks? He's been given superpowers, scooped into a war between Aliens and the Earth, and thought they were finally up for a break into something more normal. He'd been dozing off in the middle of a math test, and then, suddenly, he was waking up on a beach spitting sand out of his mouth. It's kind of a Planet of the Apes moment, but at least there isn't any half-buried Statue of Liberty in immediate view.
Some boys his age daydream about hot girls on trampolines when they pass out in the middle of the day. It seems like the best he's going to get is the knowledge that at least he's not alone. He pulls himself to his feet, brushes off the topmost later of sand, and jogs off to the figure in the distance. Might as well get some explanation if he's not going to immediately get back to earning his C.]
Uh -- hey! Sorry to bother you. Do you have a minute?
[It would be a minute for the dumbest round of questions ever, he's sure, but he's done way dumber things in his dreams.]
[After he's gotten the basics down and gotten over the initial culture shock, he'll make a test transmission over the network. It sounds like these people are under attack fairly often. It might be best to get a sense of who might need someone to look out for them when things go bad.]
So I spend my whole life dreaming about getting out of a small town only to move into a place that's even smaller. I'm pretty sure that's irony. So, hey, I guess. I'm Jason Scott, new inmate.
We're all stuck here together though, right? Some of you have been around for a long time, if the rumors are to be believed. I think that's long enough to be homesick. So maybe we should talk about it. Share stories from home. See how weird this could get.
Talk to me about where you're from. Is it small like this? Are the city people adjusting well enough?
I'm not a bad listener, if you've got stuff you need to get off your chest.

Kimberly...? I'm out by a hedge made. [Because this place is British enough that hedge mazes are actually a thing.]

I'll be right there.

A couple weeks ago we were on a space station.

It transforms, but you're never really not here. Magic or something, right?

I am finding the entire place rather interesting, if slightly confusing much of the time. I'm still adjusting to robots and technology like the thing we're using to communicate. Speaking of communicating, I'm Newt.
video'
I haven't done London, but I went to New York for a game once. It's pretty crazy, being around all those people.
video'
I take it then you're from a small town? I was born in one myself, and then attended what most would call a boarding school. Which is, really, a small town of its own.

Plus, the distraction right now is more than welcomed. So, she reaches out with very little hesitation. ]
I'm Andrea. [ She offers a small smile. For right now, at least, she's not going to inundate him with the truth about the world she comes from. Thinking back on happier memories is a nice place to be for the moment. ] I lived in Atlanta for years. Definitely not small. Ever been?
video;
I haven't been to Atlanta, but the Braves have been insane this year. If they'd gotten a chance against the Broncos, the Super Bowl would've involved some different teams.
[So maybe most of what he knows about Georgia is sports-related. Maybe that's a thing.]

Talk of sports brings a faint smile to her lips. It's normal, and it's easy to remember that life. ]
Sadly, I never got to a game. I probably shouldn't admit that out loud.

You're the first person I've met here who wants to know about everyone else when they arrive.

Hi Jason. You already know where I'm from.

Hey, man. How are you? Seems like I missed the memo and came late.

...yeah. Okay.

Upon scrutiny, he's almost a cartoonish cliche. He's tall, athletic, blonde, with unfairly clear skin. But at least in Wonderland, that might not stand out.]
Okay, so this is probably going to sound kind of out there, but, uh... [He gestures absently to the rolling tide beside them.] This is a beach. And I wasn't at the beach a little while ago. So I'm thinking I might need to ask about directions.

It's called Storybrooke, and it's in Maine. And I'm Henry. Welcome to Wonderland.

I've heard it can get pretty cold in Maine. You must be used to some pretty severe weather.

You're newly arrived and you're worried about us?
( it's a little backwards, jason. but also pretty telling of his character. )
You're right, though. Some of us have been here a long time. Some longer than others.
video.
[It's not backwards to want to get to know the people to watch over later. That's just the kind of stuff that you're supposed to think about when you have an advantage other people don't have.]
That's what I've heard about some people. Would you call yourself one of the long-timers, or is it more like the second one for you?

Hi Jason. I'm Cissie, I've been here a few months now, and I'm from Pennsylvania, USA. I live at the St Elias School for Girls, so aside from having male neighbors and the occasional reality warping magic... I can't say this place is all that different, aside from the fact that I don't have to worry about calculus here. And I mean, besides being stuck here for an unknown period of time, I can't say I've considered myself an inmate... But now I might, so thanks for that one.
[She grins, and laughs.] Where's your small town? What's it like?
Boarding school. My Dad threatened it sometimes, but never followed through. That sounds rough. Though I can't say I've got complaints about the no-calculus part. I guess even weird other worlds have their upsides.
I come from the other coast. Angel Grove, California. I won't be offended if you haven't heard of it, though. Sometimes it feels like it's got a population of around thirteen or so.

[Kanji knows some people take to it better than others, but Jason, at least, seems to have his head on pretty straight.]
Kanji Tatsumi. Town I'm from is pretty small, too. Maybe a little bigger than this, but hell, not much. Whole lotta nothin' out there in Inaba. Sounds like we got that in common.

I've been here about... 3 years. Ish? I'm from a small settlement of survivors of zombie apocalypse.

I come from a small town on a backwater colony that doesn't even exist anymore. I wanted nothing more than to get the fuck away from it.
