video/action; happy birthday detective
ᴠɪᴅᴇᴏ
[ and due to a horrible streak of bad luck, while akechi is sitting (extremely cramped) in the catbus on the way to the actual lodge, his fidgeting fingers along the device happen to click it on at the most inconvenient time. perhaps it's the world playing a cruel trick on him. who knows. either way, the feed shows the brunette hunched up in the back of the bus with a few others, face contorted in discomfort. under his breath he's saying something that sounds genuine and a lot like ]
...I don't even like my birthday but this is an absurd way to spend it.

[ if you're in the catbus, feel free to harass him during the ride, or you know, hear him say it's his birthday. or scroll through the feed and hear it on there and then angrily turn around when you realize he hasn't told anyone before this.
it's really cramped in here. ]

[ akechi will be rooming with stefan, so feel free to barge into his room at any point. other than that, feel free to bother him (he'll likely be reading by the fire with hot chocolate), or standing around the entrance of the lodge "admiring" the snow. he isn't planning on going out into it except for the snowball fight, so he won't be lost at all in the storm. ]

Are you planning on taking advantage of the slopes, then?
[ as quickly as he can, he diverts the flow of the conversation back to ann. away from himself, away from how oddly exposed he feels discussing something as trivial (and and invasive?) as his birthday. ]

Of course! It would be a total waste if I didn't. Who knows when we'll get the chance to do something like this again? Why, aren't you?
[Back to you, Akechi.]

[ a sheepish smile! ]
Though I imagine it uses a similar set of muscle groups as bouldering.

[She definitely wouldn't have taken him for the type.]
If you can do that, skiing should be no sweat!

From time to time, yes. It's a good bonding exercise down at the station.
[ sure. ]
Though I'm sure skiing requires a lot more coordination.

[Look, his explanation seems as good as any.]
I guess it makes sense that they have bonding exercises. They want to make sure you can trust your partner, right? That's important out in the field.

[ he smiles charmingly, hand on his chin, as if reflecting back to the time in the casino. really, though, he's just brooding over something. ]
Would you like to be my partner for them, in that case?

[She catches herself, cutting off before she repeats the question in full, suddenly very aware of the fact that they're packed into the car with the rest of her team. Her face colors slightly, but she can't help smiling a little-- she's been doing her best to extend offers of friendship, and this has to be proof that it's working.]
Oh-- sure! I can show you the ropes. You can count on me!

I hope I don't disappoint. I'll try and do my best to be a quick learner.
[ ooc: SHALL WE CONTINUE THIS TO ACTUAL SLOPE FUN on ann's open? ]
no subject
I think you'll catch on fast. Just be prepared to fall down a few times, okay?
[ ooc: YES LET'S]
