[Knock knock! It's the Robotboy genius! Coming to you live from his beautiful pink decorated room. He's looking considerably more cheerful than the last time he posted a month or two ago. He's also accompanied by a cute plant companion!

He's stroking it lovingly as he looks at it in its temporary pot.]

Hello, glorious citizens of Wonderland! It seems a lot of us have gotten mysterious gifts from an equally mysterious RQ, and it's such a tantalizing state to be in, isn't it?

[He delicately nudges a bud, untangling it from another leaf so that it can stand out prominently.]

And what a fitting gift this is for me! Flowers for a star! But not just a simple bouquet, oh no; a potential unending supply of beautiful white roses, just for me!

[He moves the pot to the forefront of the camera and lets it take up the whole frame so all its details are on display.]

I don't know who this RQ is but clearly they have excellent taste in being such a big fan of mine. I love you too, RQ!

[Mettaton then pops back into frame and blows a kiss to the camera. Presumably for this RQ he is talking about; how embarrassing.]

So! My question to you all is: now that I am done showing this off, what should I do with it? Should I plant this bush in the gardens for everyone to see? Maybe erect a plaque on it so everyone knows it is mine? Or should I keep it here and put it in a bigger pot to lavish my room in more elegance? Oh~! The possibilities!

White roses... Like in the book?

[Maybe they are not for you specifically, Mettaton, come on.]

[Um, Souji, they're flowers and he's a star, of course it's meant for him!!!!]

The book? You mean like Alice in Wonderland?

Yeah. In the book, the Playing Cards paint white roses red so the Queen of Hearts won't be angry with them.

[Souji mentions that and Mettaton feels a vague memory of his time reading it come to light.]

Now that you mention it... yes, I think I remember reading that. Do you think Wonderland is making a cute joke, then?

[Souji's not entirely sure what kind of joke that would be...]

What do you think you'll do with them?

Definitely plant them. That seems to be everyone's suggestions here and it makes the most logical sense. They won't last long in this pot anyway. Well. I guess technically they would since flowers here don't wither... or is that just for bouquets? Wonderland's rules with time are so fluid at times.

[And while Mettaton is selfish and does kind of want to keep this to himself, at the very least these beautiful things should keep flourishing.]

[He smiles a little at Mettaton's enthusiasm for...flowers. He will never understand the mind of a star.]

Where will you plant them?

The gardens! The soil there is probably the best for feeding this thing, however way it needs to be fed.

[He chuckles a little. He really doesn't know much of what goes into taking care of plants other than: soil, water, and sunlight. That's it.]

Did you get anything from Wonderland? It seems a lot of people did.

[Souji reaches off screen and then holds out two USB drives.]

I don't know who they belong to, but there's a lot on them. It mostly seems like songs and lyrics.

Songs and lyrics...?

[Mettaton stops, staring hard through the camera as Souji unveils what he received and he... ha, he feels momentarily frozen. There's no way that this could be-]

It doesn't say a name or anything anywhere in the files?

I didn't notice but-- Hang on, I'll play one of the songs for you. Maybe it'll sound familiar.

[He fiddles with something off screen and plays one of the songs he found on the drive.

After it plays through, he looks at Mettaton curiously.]

Any ideas?

[Mettaton stops, stock still, as the familiar melody filters through his device's speakers. It's hard to not feel the wave of longing and heartache that fills him as it does, and the smile he gives Souji is a bit watery.]

Yes. I know whose USB drive that is.

[He takes another few seconds to calm himself.]

That used to belong to a former resident here. Their name was Napstablook.

[He thought he'd never hear that again.]

[Souji had never met Napstablook, but had seen him on the network.

Mettaton's reaction does surprise him, though, and tells him a bit about how the two were related.]

Your friend? Maybe you should have this, then.

I would very much like to have it, yes.

[He tries to keep any sense of pleading out of his voice but that slight tone of desperation is still there, clinging to the edges of his words.]

Do you want me to meet you anywhere?

I'm heading up to the diner to work. We can meet there if you want.

[Mettaton nods.]

That sounds perfect. I'll see you there.

[He turns the feed off rather quickly, taking a moment to compose himself. He'd almost let himself fall apart on camera. How undignified.

It's another few minutes before he finally leaves his room, heading to the diner in what he hopes is a measured, lackadaisical walk but ends up being more a mixture between speed walking and a sprint. When he gets to the diner he steps in, looking around for Souji.]

[Souji's already there, waiting at the counter, leaning forward with his arms folded on its surface. He looks up when Mettaton arrives and waves him over. The flash drive is on the counter in front of him.]

That was fast.

[The USB drive is just sitting there casually on the counter, as if it doesn't contain the last tangible bits of Napstablook's presence here in Wonderland. Which is a funny concept to think of in relation to a ghost, but that's beside the point.]

Well, I didn't think it would be polite to keep you waiting!

[He says, to try and downplay how he booked his high-heeled ass over here.]

I appreciate it.

[He straightens up, picks up the USB drive, and holds it out.]

I didn't know him. I'm glad there's something for you to remember him by.

[Mettaton takes it rather quickly, trying to not look desperate but utterly fails to. When it's in his hands he looks down at it, an expression of wistful longing crossing over his face.]

I mean. It's not like they're dead.

[They can't die, after all. At least not in any sense that they or Mettaton knows.]

But... I've missed them terribly since they left here. So knowing there's something of their stay left is comforting, to say the least.

[Souji notes that near-desperation. He lowers his hand and smiled a little, glad he decided to respond to Mettaton's network post.]

So you'll see them again when you get home?

Yes. Maybe.

[He hesitates.]

I'll see them, but not the one who was here, necessarily. I don't know how things are for you back home, but for us we can be the same but... different depending on some events.

[He will go home to his cousin, but they won't be the same one he's grown close to here. And he feels selfish for wanting that.]

I know it's possible where I'm from. But I've never met anyone who was actually from another possible ending.

[Ending seems like the best word to use, even though it wasn't like his life had ended when his journey did.]

Maybe they'll come back here someday.

[Mettaton sighs a little.]

That seems to be the case with quite a few people here. Our world is a bit unusual in that regard.

[It really is fascinating how Frisk's choices can change everything so implicitly.]

I shouldn't hope for that, but I do. Out of everyone I know, I think they loved it here the most.

A lot of people don't understand why some people might prefer it here.

[But he gets it. One of the people he's closest to is in that position.]

I'll hope for them that they return.
