[The feed opens up with a low chuckle, revealing a man wearing a strange frog shaped mask. He seems remarkably calm for someone who wound up in another world, but hey. Day in the life of an NPC.]
Ah ah ah. Being ahead of the protagonist is par for the course for me, but another world is quite a difference. Perhaps a little to far down the rabbit hole, dear Puppeteer.
[Nobody answers Zacharie's question but he doesn't seem put off by it. In fact, for those who are observant, he's completely alone. Talking to himself, maybe?]
But nevertheless I will keep the introductions short and instead offer my services. More action and less questions, after all. I'm Zacharie, the traditional item merchant in every video game. I sell quite a number of useful items so feel free to browse and I will be happy to explain anything you need.
[And judging by his list an explanation or two are probably necessary!]

HELLO SORRY FOR THE LATE TAG IN
It's good to see you again, Zacharie! I think I'm ready to commit to buying some of your illustrious items now.
It's all good!
Hello there, dear friend! Sadly it seems that while I was here before, someone had run off with my memories of that time! It is rather rude. So sadly we will need to go through the introduction scene again, if you do not mind.
no subject
[He shakes his head.]
I'm Mettaton! Monster robot celebrity of the Surface and formerly the Underground. I'd ask about you but in my eyes we've already met before. But you're still welcome to introduce yourself all the same.
no subject
[May as well get the ball rolling right now, hun?]
no subject
[Mettaton has always been business savvy himself, so direct and forward individuals have a special place in his heart. They get shit done.]
Now, last I checked, I was thinking of buying a Fortune Ticket or two and maybe a bat... what is your G to Credit rate again?
[He wonders if it will be different this time around, since Zacharie doesn't remember. What a fun game this is!]
no subject
I will be going with G being worth ten as the lowest priced item I have are the Luck Tickets. Will that work for you amigo?
[It's the same as last time but it's still pretty fair, at least to him.]
no subject
Oh yes, that will work fine.
[The G he has is burning a hole through his pocket.]
Now, these Fortune Tickets; how do they work, exactly? Are they like the meats where you have to consume them or is there some other way they are used?
[Once again, all of Zacharie's items are interesting and he wishes he could buy more.]
no subject
Simply apply it directly to wherever ails you or your allies and will it to work. And then presto, HP restored. I can offer a demonstration, if you like.
[It won't get as messy as he thinks it will.]
no subject
A demonstration? Well! Go right on ahead then!
[Has it occured to him that the way to demonstrate this sort of thing is to injure yourself? Yes! Does he particularly care? ...Debatable!]
no subject
He pulls out a Fortune Ticket - a pure white piece of paper with the words FORTUNE stamped on it in black - and a small knife. One quick slash across a finger later, Zacharie taps the Ticket against his injury and it vanishes. Not fancy but there's no scar left where it was.]
There we are! Now this won't work if you are unconscious, so I recommend picking up some Jokers if you are planning to engage in combat.
no subject
Mettaton claps good-naturedly at the demonstration.]
Bravo! That's some quick working magic, there! I will take two of those, certainly. Do these Jokers of yours work the same way?
[That is not an invitation to knock yourself out, Zacharie, but tbh, he won't stop you if you try. He'll just be vaguely disturbed.]
I'd consider buying some of your meats, but alas, our last discussion had us conclude that I could not use them, seeing as I can't properly digest them.
no subject
But no, he's not doing a demonstration on the Jokers. He's not that hard up for cash.]
The Jokers are revival items, used to bring to life those who are unfortunate enough to fall to the enemies you may encounter. Regrettably they will not cheat Wonderland out of what it wants so I would not be surprised if they have defaulted to revival from unconsciousness.
And that is a shame! I would be happy to sell you those if by some chance you are turned into a human.
no subject
[His mirror was not above tying him up to keep him socked away until he could return, but since that was thwarted he more than likely could attempt to knock him unconscious if he ever got the chance again. Having a Joker on hand could be helpful in preventing whatever future machinations he has.
After all, that's the whole reason he's here buying things isn't it?]
Well, Wonderland has a funny way of making that a real possibility, so in the future if there is an event where I become one and remember you, I'll be sure to seek you out. Now, about these bats of yours. Do you have any particular recommendations?
[Mettaton has his own plans for his mirror, and none of them are pretty.]
no subject
[So it comes down to whatever budget that Mettaton is working with. He'll mention the possibility of doing fetch quests for him in a bit. For now, let's see where this is going.]
no subject
Oh please, Zacharie, I am not worried about prices.
[Mettaton had quite the nice nest egg of G back home, and a good bit of said egg on his person when Wonderland whisked him away. Even though he has no way of making more since the closets do not give out currency, Mettaton is not the type of robot to blanch at a high price.]
That Michael Bat sounds very tempting. But what about these other bats you have listed?
no subject
The Katsuhiro Bat is the strongest I have with a thirty-two that would fall under a basic price.
[The Ashley Bat is the strongest equipment but it'd probably take a long, long fetch quest to get that one, as there's only one.]
no subject
[A few good swings of that bat, and his mirror would be done for.]
By my calculations, that would be about... 200 G, yes? I'd ask about that Ashley Bat, but there isn't a price here.
[He looks off-screen for a moment, since I apparently forgot to specify that this was a video, and seems to be counting something.]
So with two Fortune Tickets and the Katsuhiro Bat, that brings my total to 260 G. Is that correct?
no subject
Correct! If there is anything else you would need, please let me know. Otherwise if you wish to proceed to the checkout, so to speak, just let me know where you are and I will be there in a jiffy.
no subject
I'd say I am good to checkout for now! You can find me on the second floor. I'll meet you in the hallway.
-> action
[And the video blacks out. He'll be waiting in the hallway as if he's always been there, with his backpack on the ground and open. Zacharie will wave Mettaton over once he spots him but will be content to wait for the robot to approach before starting the rest of the dialog.]
action
When he feels his presentation is perfect, he steps out of his room and looks around to see if Zacharie has gotten there first. He spies the mask pretty quickly and walks over to the merchant.]
It's good to see you in the flesh!
[He looks at the backpack on the floor curiously.]
You fit all of your wares in there, hm? Are you limited in your item slots, or is it one of those infinite inventories?
action
Zacharie bends over to pick up the backpack. It's a little bigger than an average one and possibly entirely made of pockets.]
Infinite inventories and items! Being the item merchant means I will never run out.
[Bar two, maybe three, things and he's not mentioning the items technically come from him rather than the backpack. But he tugs out the Katsuhiro Bat, something that's noticeably bigger than the backpack, and holds it out handle first.]
And here is the Katsuhiro Bat. Very easy to equip and rather light. Feel free to give it a test swing, though preferably not at my head, ah ah ah!
ACT -> FLIRT
[He made sure that every morning he was ready to smash his fuckgin face into the steaks so they were be perfect for his customers.
He takes the bat and in doing so gets a better look of Zacharie, letting his eyes slowly glide up and down the man's body. Some people would be discouraged from any interest because of the mask, but Mettaton finds it intriguing. An element of mystery to a potential suitor is a for-sure way to get him interested.]
Oh, of course not, Zacharie! I wouldn't want to hurt a single hair on your precious head.
[He steps back from him, turning a bit slowly to give Zacharie a good look of his body in rotation. He then positions himself to swing the bat, making sure his entire backside is prominent as he lets himself swing.
He falls easily into a perfect batting pose, his body twisted attractively, the metal plating visible through his clothes gleaming in the hallway light. He gives a careless flip to his hair, giving Zacharie a smoldering smile.]
I love the way this bat handles! I'd say it's premium quality.
no subject
["Which is bullshit because you own an amusement park Zacharie."
But he doesn't miss that look. Normally people did look at him weird because yeah, wearing a mask 24/7 garnered that sort of expression. Mettaton, on the other hand...
Name: Flirt
Type: Normal
MP Consume: 0
%: 0
Description: Special attack of an attractive robot
Target: Single Enemy
Condition: Inflict: Amusement
Yeah. But RPG mechanics aside, he takes it with an amused sounding laugh. It's charming, in its own way he thinks but he's not flirting material. Instead he pulls out the Fortune Tickets from his right sleeve - don't ask - and holds them out.]
Aahah, it's wonderful you think so! It's always nice to hear that my items are of good quality. Your Fortune Tickets as well.
no subject
I'm just talented, what can I say?
[Talented and a hard worker, despite all of the glitz he throws onto his life.
Zacharie sees his flirtations and he laughs and it's more adorable than Mettaton expected. If he was any less him, he'd've been taken aback for a moment, but instead Mettaton merely grins wider, turning back around to face Zacharie completely, passing the bat to one hand and dropping it to his side.]
Why thank you! You seem to be quite good with your hands.
[He'll have to watch out for any sleight-of-hand tricks from Zacharie in the future. He reaches out, taking the Fortune Tickets and letting his hand linger on Zacharie's. Nothing too long to be awkward, but long enough to communicate weight and a gentle touch. Mettaton is once again glad that he wears gloves. It makes his hands seem softer than they are.]
Now for what I am sure is your favorite part of these sorts of transactions.
[He reaches into a pocket and pulls out a pouch that jingles happily with the sounds of clinking coins. Said pouch finds its new home in Zacharie's outstretched hand.]
Feel free to count them if you wish to make sure I have the proper amount of money.
