ENTRANCE HALL - DAY 1 22:30
ENTRANCE HALL - DAY 1 22:30
[ (Continuation from the third-person sample.)
Afterlife.
That's the only way to rationalise what Mondo sees here. A realistically bright blue sky within a huge mansion, a place so strange it must've only existed in the world of dreams. There's no way you can see the sky from the first floor, if this is the first floor as he assumed. Even with that aside, this whole place just gives him some unpleasant vibes, not to mention the smell of incense.
It can't be a dream, dead people don't see dreams. He was supposed to be dead, after all. The reason why he felt nothing was because... well, whatever those electric noises he heard were, the voltage was probably so high his body couldn't take it, and he immediately died. Yeah. Makes sense to him.
So him being able to move around right now, unscathed, can only mean one thing.
He's in hell.
He never believes the existence of afterlife, let alone heaven and hell. But here he is, alive and kicking after execution. There's no way he's in heaven, he killed someone ー heck, two people. His own friend, and his own brother, at that. It's only right that he's roasted to death perpetually. Scary as that sounds, it might make him feel slightly better. Maybe.
Though, this place sure isn't what he imagined hell to look like, even if the eerie silence is creepy in its own right.
His eyes scan through the room, finding themselves following the candles lighting the area. Heh, he's got it. They gonna drop and set the whole space into fire, right? He'll wait, then. There's no point running away when he has no way to hide. With his eyes closed, Mondo folds his arms in front of his chest, waiting for the 'true punishment' to befall him. ]

HIS ROOM - DAY 2 09:00
HIS ROOM - DAY 2 09:00
[ Unless you're a heavy sleeper, you might have heard thunderous noises from the video transmission in the middle of night last night. (Note: Please read the first-person sample only and don't scroll up if you want to avoid DR spoilers!) Before anyone could respond, the video transmission cut off last night, and he would've missed any responses until now since the palm pilot was switched off following the violent throw.
Miraculously, when he tries to switch it back on, it's still working. It's a lot more resilient than it seems, and Mondo's 'considerably' calmer after a good night's rest. He's aware that there must be some use to this device, and after fiddling with it for a while, he attempts to do another video transmission. ]
Uh, so. Can anyone tell me why we're here? How do... things work 'round here?
[ He's not looking right at the camera, simply because he doesn't know how front camera works, but his glare is very... glaring. Agitation is still there, and it's pretty obvious. His pompadour is a splendid corncob now as opposed to last night's rather disheveled state.
Does he know how to turn off the transmission without throwing the phone? Looks like someone needs to give him some 101.
Anyway, a few options for this prompt:
a) send him a video response of last night's chaos, shout at him back for waking you up in the middle of nothing, tell him to calm down, etc;
b) go on video call with/send video response to him following the morning transmission;
c) text in response;
d) wildcard, which means... GET WILD! ]

HALLWAYS - DAY 2 12:00
HALLWAYS - DAY 2 12:00
[ A relatively big (187cm or 6ft 1.6inch) young man will be wandering around, trying to figure out where is what. He still has a scowl on his face, but isn't going to eat you if you talk to him. At least not right away... he's pretty hungry. If you're Kiyotaka Ishimaru, he's gonna bolt the shit out of there moments after he spots you. If you're not, then congrats, he might talk to you for a bit. In fact, he might just start the conversation if you don't. (Feel free to start the conversation and not use this prompt!) ]
Hey. Y'know where the dining room's at? We can eat for free?
no subject
ーUh, yeah. It's aight.
[ And two cotton candies pop out before them as he speaks.
Okay, so, he definitely thought of them for a bit, but not the colours, he would try to argue. Blue in front of Minato, pink in front of him. ]
There.
[ Payback for the takoyaki. ]
no subject
But before he could get into that, he saw the cotton candy appear right in front of him.
Minato smiled. That was nice of Mondo to do.]
Thank you.
[Minato never thought about having cotton candy here. Good call. And it was definitely good since he took a bite of it and tried it.]
I do have to tell you one more thing about being here though.
minato is too charming, i can't
[ That caught him off-guard, especially since he was just doing it as a payback. ]
Uh, yeah. 's nothin'.
[ His free hand reaches up to the back of his head as his gaze trails off elsewhere. Dammit, he's the one who's supposed to say thanks here! Now he's lost the timing to since Minato's moved on to another topic, and it's one that sounds pretty concerning. He doesn't have a good feeling about this. ]
Tell me.
aw thanks <3 Mondo is great and enthusiastic XD
After taking another taste of the cotton candy and letting that melt away, Minato nodded and then well, though the cotton candy was sweet, the information he was going to give Mondo might not be. It depended, he thought.]
Death isn't permanent here. You die one time, you get brought back in a day. Second time, two days.
Don't wander out too far in the forest or out in the ocean because you'll end up dead too. You'll wake up in the mansion when you're alive again.
♡
Anyway, it seems like his instincts to tag along with Arisato was right after all. Dude's definitely providing him with more contexts that he badly needs, and they come with strange reassurances that Mondo didn't even ask for. Even better, the next information Arisato chucked his way might've just helped him dodge a fatal bullet by a very slight margin. If Minato didn't tell him that, he was planning to explore the woods later today. ]
Shit, makes sense why that chick from earlier said no one knew what was beyond.
[ He grunts in aggravation, totally forgetting about his cotton candy despite swinging it lightly by its handle. ]
You think there's some place to go on a motorcycle ride 'round here?
[ Not that he knows how to get one, but. ]
no subject
[He thought he had to put that out there as well because while it was horrible to die once, with the way Wonderland worked, someone really could run the risk of dying yet again. He knew people who had died multiple times. No one else should have to die if they could help it.
Mondo did sound like he got some information already, which was good.]
Sure. Outside. Down the halls, if you want. Where's your bike?
[Just checking. Sometimes people ended up here with things that were with them.]
no subject
Not knowing what to say to that, he stays silent until Arisato answers his question. ]
Down the halls?! [ That's a joke, right? It's hard to tell with that deadpan look. ] Can't run down there, dude.
...Well, I've got no bikes with me now, but if the closet thing's true, maybe I can get parts of it and build it myself.
[ That gamer chick did say something about getting parts of an arcade game machine, so, worth trying. Outside, though... he might need to explore further later. ]
Got any place 'round here you recommend to drive on?
no subject
[Minato hadn't gone down farther than about a hundred rooms, but there weren't a lot of people from what he could tell down there. If Mondo wanted to test out his motorcycle down that way, then Minato thought that would be a good place to do it. Minato thought he himself should check out the halls farther down too.
Building it yourself would work. You could go on the grass or rip up the hedge maze. It'll repair itself.
no subject
Seriously?!
[ But that... sorta... well. The idea's tempting. But so is the next one Minato's putting in his head. Why are you enabling him, Minato... ]
No consequences?
[ He needs to check, because maybe it comes with side dishes like the mirrors. ]
no subject
Not really. The hedge maze gets destroyed almost every night. By the next morning, it's as if nothing had ever happened to it.
[Minato knows about that, that's for sure.]
no subject
Aight.
[ He seems sure. So Mondo will... just say this at least. ]
If you're lyin', I'm bringin' ya down with me. But, if you're not, I'll consider lettin' ya sit on my back seat.
[ An eye for an eye, ya feel? ]
no subject
I've always wanted to ride a motorcycle. I'll get my chance.
[Backseat or not. He'd done the motorcycle riding thing before, but not here. And he probably did have a high chance of it since he knew he was right about the repairs.]
When we're done here, you can pick a room to stay in. It'll change to whatever you like.
no subject
Then you better not be lyin'.
[ He finishes up the leftover half of his cotton candy (when did he eat it?!) with a couple of big bites. ]
Got my room last night, actually. After meeting a buncha people here since morning, 'm gettin' used to it... Aight, maybe not really, but y'know. [ Vague gestures. ] Guess the magic's real, whatever. Still freaky though.
no subject
Mn, it's real. There might be more magic you haven't seen yet, but don't worry about it for now.
[For now, Mondo had to just settle in and get used to this place.]
no subject
Goddammit...
[ There are more? He's already not looking forward to it. ]
How long did it take for you to get used to this place?
no subject
[There was always something to surprise them. But he was used to the idea that something would happen, as if that part were routine. He just always had to be alert.]
no subject
[ He lets out a sigh of exasperation, but also, one of submission. "You have to adapt to stay alive", words of a classmate that make a lot more sense to him now that he's got nowhere else to go.
...Now that he thinks about it, isn't it weird? Surely she had other places to go outside that stupid mutual killing shit. Why would ya admit defeat to that fucked up bear? Leaning to the seat, he stares at Arisato, as his mind wanders momentarily to the past.
Ah well, whatever. 's not like he's gonna come back to that kinda life anyway. ]
...Say, what d'you usually do here everyday?
no subject
[Things like that. Minato wasn't really picky. He did whatever he could since he didn't have time for it at home. Picking up a hobby, improving on an old one, he had time for that now.]
no subject
So all those... uh. 'Events' don't come that often?
You can get a normal job here?
no subject
[Sometimes. It depended, he thought, as to what kind of event it was.]
People make jobs for themselves. There's no money here to worry about though.
no subject
[ Definitely much more often than what he expected, and the word 'announcement' isn't helping in any way. It just reminds him of that freakin' lunatic bear back home. ]
Guess people just work so they don't get bored living here.
[ Well, it's a given. They're not here to have fun, that's for sure, even if the place's called Wonderland. ]
no subject
[That'd be fun in its own way. Mondo could ride it around outside or down the halls far away enough from people and not have to worry about the traffic rules or the cops or anyone really judging him.]
Is there anything you want to do here that you can't at home?
no subject
[ If he manages to find out how to assemble them, that is. He sure has a plenty of knowledge on bikes, but building one is a whole different mountain. Guess that can be his goal for now? Maybe he can try getting some manuals from the closet too.
But what does he want to do now that he's here, he wonders. What he gathers so far, there's no particular rules set down here apart from the obvious stuff like not fighting people randomly, and staying away from the mirrors. He probably has a plenty of time here, considering how long the people he's met so far have been here. Frown emerges between his brows as he begins pondering. ]
...'Guess... I wanna learn woodwork. Or somethin'.
[ He looks away to avoid seeing Arisato's reaction, being aware of how that probably sounded weird coming from him. ]
no subject
[A lot of people took extra rooms for their own. Labs, bars, movie theaters, storage, etc. There were so many rooms that it wouldn't be infringing on anyone's space.
It should be okay.
Plus he hadn't heard of anyone opening up shop like that either. Most people either did that extension of their work at home (labs) or did things like cooking, baking, reading.]
no subject
[ Now that's something to consider. Having a place for him to try things out apart from his own room is actually really nice, if he puts the fact that he's in some weird world aside, and that the abundance of facilities here ironically reminds him of his time in the Hope's Peak. At least they're not forced to murder anyone... yet. Hopefully never.
The surprise information delays his realisation for a couple of seconds that there doesn't seem to be any judgments done on Arisato's part. Rather, from the beginning of their interaction he's felt nothing but neutrality from him, which probably helps him to release the tension he's been having on his shoulders.
. . .
Crap, he doesn't even remember when he stops being vigilant. He's been talking to him normally like he's his friend or something. ]
I'll try that out, I guess.
[ He gets up abruptly. Gotta move before he gets too absorbed in the zen mood that's filling up the space ー before he gets vulnerable. ]
Any other places around the mansion worth noting?
