Let's say you have two friends who you care about very much, and they're both very nice people.

You learned friend 1 has a crush on friend 2. You think they'd be very good together.

Is there any way I can get them together? Or should I stay out of it?

I think it's sweet that you care so much about your friends and their happiness, but I think you should be careful about interfering. Sometimes it's best to let people figure out their own feelings and how to go about tellin' the person they admire about 'em without too much pressure from other people.

You can still give your friend emotional support and boost their confidence up so that they'll succeed in their love, I'd say. I suppose you can also (discreetly, of course) see if you can find out what the second person thinks too, if you haven't yet already.

Oh, that's true! I don't know how the second friend feels about love and dating!

As such, it would be best to get all of the facts first before doing anything else, right?

Yeah, you gotta be careful when bringing that kind of subject up. Maybe... I don't know, just try casually talking to them about your group of friends and asking what they think of some people here, with the other friend that has a crush being somewhere on that list?

Well, we all do belong to a certain group! Getting us together wouldn't be impossible! It might work!

Then I guess there's no harm in trying that and seeing how it works!

I should certainly hope so, considering that I got married and have a terrific kid to call my own.

So do I. Especially my son, it's been far too long since I last got to play a game of catch with him or something.

Oh, you know, like a baseball? We've got some catcher's mitts at home and sometimes we'll spend an afternoon just tossing the baseball to one another to catch.

Oh, I see. I don't know much about sports. My father never played any with me. Is it because I'm a girl?

He might've thought you wouldn't be too excited about that sort of thing? But I say both girls and boys should be allowed to play whatever sports that they've got an interest in.
