From her time as a D&D DM 'Litch' is very familiar. The great thing about eating brains isn't taking on the personality. It's retaining information. This is a game changer. ]

Okay, so if I'm a little wrong here, let me know, but...doesn't that mean you're undead?

[The elf gives a pretty casual shrug before taking a sip from her glass and throwing a leg over her knee, like it's really not that big a deal. Which it isn't. Mostly.]

Technically. I mean, this body is pretty damn alive and I'm trying not to burn through it. But if I do get killed, things just get a little extra spooky.

Okay. So. Here's a fact you may or may not find interesting.

[ Deep breath in even though she most definitely doesn't need it...exhale, and: ]

I'm dead too. I mean, if I get killed again outside of Wonderland that's it, but. I have to die in a pretty specific way.

[Oh. Well huh. Not exactly what Lup expected to hear. But at least now they have even more in common besides loving wine and pajamas?]

Oh shit, you too? [And Lup scrutinizes the other woman carefully over her glass.] Huh, small fuckin' world.

I wonder if there are more people here like this than we think? I mean, it kind of makes me feel better about being dead to know someone else understands.

[ Although how many eat brains? Just one, that she knows of. ]

So, imagine my surprise when I woke up after being dead for a day. After telling someone with absolute positivity that I couldn't die and he didn't need to worry about me.

For the amount of folks here? Probably super possible. Can't say it's something that comes out in normal conversation, but guess we could throw out a poll or somethin'.

[Not that it really changes much, but could be interesting. They could start a club.]

What happened? Wonderland came for you? I heard the events here are always trying to kill folks.

[ She's probably not wrong. The odds have to be leaning toward there being more dead people than not, right? Although, how many of them ate brains would be the real question. ]

Yeah, I don't even know what it was. Some...thing that made me convince myself to bash my head into a wall until my head was just kind of....open. But it was like I wasn't in control. I couldn't stop, as much as I wanted to.

[Well. Uh. That's one way to actually startle the elf.

What she's heard of events so far is monsters stalking down the halls, looking to kill folks, to fill up Wonderland's sick need for death and stolen memories. She has not heard of an event making people want to kill themselves. That is just so much more fucked up.]

That's... wow. I heard this place adapts to people who are pretty unkillable generally. You think that was on purpose? It knew just how to take you out?

I don't think it was just me specifically. It didn't just want me dead, it wanted to eat my brain.

[ Which is such a horrific irony that Liv semi-wants to laugh but doesn't. ]

Although, honestly, I wouldn't put it past Wonderland to do anything to target specific people at this point.

[The elf's expression twists, mouth pulling into a disgusted frown.] Grossarooni.

[That's just so not her thing.]

Well, it majorly sucks to die, but I'm glad you came back. At least this place is courteous enough to do that after it kills you.

Hey, there are good things going for Wonderland, even if it seems weird to admit it. Unlimited food and booze is one thing that I enjoy the hell out of, personally.

[ Maybe it's in exchange for being murder-y all the time, but w/e. ]

[Definitely not enough to make Lup like it, considering what she'd given up when arriving, but the elf laughs either way.]

Gotta admit, I'm kinda in love with the pantry. My bro an' I are chefs, but the last couple'a years haven't had access to the kinda supplies and ingredients we would've liked. So that's been pretty rad. Not sure if it beats the whole memory vore aspect of this place, but it's a perk.

You cook professionally? Consider me super intrigued.

[ She's always looking for new recipes to try that she can incorporate brains into. Not that she's gonna say that out loud. ]

Also, is it okay if I ask why supplies are so limited now? It's okay if you'd rather not go into it.

Hell yeah! If you ever wanna tag team in the kitchen, hit me up. If I can drag my brother along too, we’ll really make it a party.

[Lup’s definitely worked with brains before, though less of the human variety.

She leans forward at that, glass in hand, tipping her head to the side thoughtfully.]

It’s a pretty long story, but we’ve just been doing a lot of traveling lately. Before here. Lots of new places, lots of new foods to try. Sometimes we just end up with nothing we can use, so we’ve had to be real creative. Went through one full year of just stew. Pretty over it now.

You have family here? That's always nice, having someone you know you can count on.

[ Liv's found people, and she'll make her own little family here, she hopes. It isn't anything she hasn't had to do before, she can do it again. ]

Being able to go anywhere, try anything and just experiment must have been pretty amazing. I wish, honestly. I try to experiment a lot with things here, but I don't know what to think of so I wind up with stuff I eat all the time.

[It's only because she's had a lot of practice as of late that Lup's expression doesn't completely drop at that. It's more complicated than she'd like to explain.] Yeah, my twin's here and some of our other friends. I hear a lot of folks pop up here alone. That's gotta bite. Anyone you know from home around here?

[The elf's smile quirks upwards.]

We can do a little crash course if you're interested. Go over flavor profiles and all that crap. It'll help elevate anything you make.

It does bite, because I definitely don't have anyone from home.

[ It sucks, a ton. ]

But, I'm trying to make new friends here, you know? Build your own family or however that works.

[ Cooking sounds fun - well, cooking with Lup sounds fun. Liv definitely needs new ideas. ]

I think that sounds like a great way to spend some time. I'm into it.

[Lup's smile doesn't dim in the slightest, but she leans forward from where she's seated, giving the wine in her glass a little swirl.]

We just met and all, but hit me up anytime you need a pal. I'll so down for this shit. To be perfectly honest, my life is full of way too many dudes. Could always use more gal to hang with. Too much time around the boner squad gives me a big ol' headache.

[she loves them, but there's a limit to her patience]

And sweet! Let's make a date of it. It'll give me something to look forward to when Wonderland decides to go all nuts on us.

[ She's met a couple guys here who are awesome, but sometimes you just need more ladies in your life. ]

You're a great drinking buddy and I feel like I could convince you to have frequent pajama parties with me and my roommate. She's also trying to teach me how to be a gamer? It's all new.

If there's booze involved, I promise it's not hard to convince me of anything.

Gamer? Whatcha mean by that? Just like, someone who plays a lot of games? My brother and I are pretty pro with any card games that involve heavy gambling.

Well, I've watched her play a lot of RPG games, and we bonded over Dungeons and Dragons, so I'm pretty sure her range is wide and varied.

[ Liv's secretly a giant nerd who loved being a DM but don't tell anyone. ]

[What does all of this mean????? Lup's from an age where they had a bomb-ass space ship but no concept of what a fucking car or blender were. It's a weird place.]

RPG? [she repeats, trying to figure out just what the letters stand for. Rock Punching Game? Sounds like something Magnus would make up.] Not the kind of games I'm familiar with, but sound pretty bomb. Dragons are kinda a bitch to take down though.

RPGs are role-playing games. So you take on the role of a character and then act out scenarios. It can get pretty intense. I dabble a little, but I'm not a pro like she is.

[ Patterson knows everything about it, and Liv only has second-hand knowledge from a brain she ate once. ]
