Between all the murder and mayhem, sometimes a man has to find a way to keep himself busy. Tempting as it is to know you've got an endless supply of all the fine spirits you could want right there in that old closet, there's a balance to be struck - Namely between 'having fun' and 'getting yelled at', and Lord knows I'm not always good at finding it.

So a hobby, then! Something productive - And here it is!

[Insert here a photo of a blue knit scarf. It's... it sure is a scarf. It's not terrible, but it's definitely uh, a beginner's work. Also the framing of the picture is a little askew, and it's not in completely crisp focus, but he's from the 18th century so you'll have to forgive him. At least he figured out this much.]

Really, the pride ought to be all Mrs. Fraser's though, patient woman that she is. It does make a man appreciate the effort ladies put into all this sort of thing.

The next one will stay the same size throughout, I think. That's the plan, at least.

I find there's much to be said for patient effort, and many men are considerably lacking in it. It must be experienced to be appreciated.

I must say that knitting is not a skill I ever took the time to master.

She's a patient woman, that much is for sure.

I never thought I would either, but here we are. My normal pursuits aren't exactly feasible here in Wonderland.

Would you mind elaborating on what those pursuits are?

Whaling, fighting a war against the British. Boring stuff, really.

War is something I know very well. I'm not familiar with the British, however.

A quick description: Big red coats, awfully bossy, think they can tell us what to do from an ocean away.

Ah, I know the sort. Though the ones I am more familiar with are more fond of wearing black.

Yeah, you get it! There's a few in green around but the red's their standard.

People such as them will always exist. They might change their colours, but not their ideals.

Isn't that the truth. That's why we're fighting, of course - To handle it ourselves, take care of our own and protect them.

A noble goal. I hope it remains so.
