[video] A Small Announcement

[The video opens on Tim looking fairly composed and not like he's having an Extremely Bad Day.

He is, in fact, having an Extremely Bad Day. Turning up to bother your little brother-person and finding him completely gone with no trace will do that. He's looked around for any hint that Damian will be back, but there's nothing, and so that means that someone has to make an announcement. And apparently today, that someone gets to be him.

He is Totally Fine. Really.]

I'm sorry to have to be the one to make this announcement: Damian Wayne seems to have returned home.

[And if he hasn't and is just messing with Tim in a really, exceptionally cruel way, Tim will have to kill him.

He probably isn't, though. Tim shakes his head, realizing he's been staring at the camera too long.

The video ends.]

I'm always ready.

[For most things, sure; he learned that from Batman himself, to always be prepared, for anything. But Jason hadn't been prepared for Wonderland, and he hadn't been prepared for Tim, either, though he knows, in retrospect, that he really should've been. Of course Batman would take on another Robin. The war always needs new soldiers. The war doesn't stop when one soldier falls.

Jason is ... a little less angry than he has been, at least where Tim is concerned. He's had time away from Gotham, time to get used to the idea of his successor's existence, time to remember what it was like to be Tim's age and full of ideas about his chosen purpose in life, time to remember what being Robin meant to him. Maybe he'll never stop being angry at Bruce, but there are layers upon layers of reasons for that. Jason doesn't know Tim like he knows Bruce.

So this is where and how he chooses to start getting to know Tim. Jason pushes off from the ropes, rolls his shoulders back as he moves in toward Tim, really studying him now like he hasn't before.]

But I'm not gonna fight you. I want you to try to hit me.

[Jason has no intention of throwing punches at a kid who's having a shit time. But he is curious to see what Tim can do, and if he's as good as he should be - well, Jason wouldn't be himself if he couldn't take a punch or two or twelve.]

Deal?
