[It's July 1. The date hadn't meant too much, other than the fact that for some reason, the Garden was on its way to taking over the Mansion. It seemed to be spreading at a rapid pace, enough to cause concern. But it was low on Minato's list of concerns at the moment. He had something else to worry about--even besides turning more plant-like--and that was trying to figure out how to stay upright on his feet without wanting to fall over, pass out, or vomit. He would very much like the room to stop spinning too.

Minato resorted then to just sitting on the floor with his back against the side of the bed. It might've been more logical to sleep in the bed. When he had the strength in him to get up there, he would.

But right now he was as comfortable as he could get from just sitting where he was with his eyes closed, and trying not to pay too much pay attention to the way his head hurt and the incessant chatter of the larkspurs in his room.]

[Minato didn't get up from where he was, just seated on the floor.]

Okay, I think. ... I haven't checked yet though.

They seem happy enough! Have they been missing their mommy much?

[Minato nodded. Not as much as their "father", really, but Minato didn't let that show.]

Mn. They might need to be fed.

Can I feed them for you? Do they need anything else? Cleaning out, maybe?

[Only Pinkie could find this so exciting.]

[Lucky for Minato, she did find it exciting! She cared for them as much as he did, which was nice. Normally he'd protest and say that he could do it, but he really was in no shape to be ordering anyone around.]

Just feeding's fine. I cleaned them out earlier. Thank you.

[She locates the food and peers at the label.]

How much should I give for this many fishies?

[Minato had to think a little bit about that.]

Small pinch for the smaller fish. The fighting fish and goldfish can have a little more.

[Contrary to what you'd expect, having grown up amongst horses, Pinkie does know what a pinch is. How she manages to do it is a mystery the show has never illustrated, but she very carefully provides for each of the fish.]

[She sits back near him to watch him.]

They're so pretty, aren't they?

[True, and Minato hadn't thought about that. But the fish seemed to be happy being fed either way. He smiled slightly when she rejoined him.]

Mn. [Minato moved his hand toward the blue fighting fish.] She liked blue.

[And so did he, obviously. Even the goldfish had blue tones to it.]

[Pinkie nods, entranced by their movements.]

I can tell. Were you two very good friends?

[Minato smiled again, nodding.]

I'd like to think so.
