[001; video/action; open]
[ It's not certain at first whether the video has been switched on intentionally. There isn't any direct addressing of the network. There's just the spinning image of a hallway (the fifth floor, for those of you playing at home) the occasional glimpse of long, brown hair and the unmistakable sound of delighted laughter. It slows down, eventually, comes to a complete stop and the laughter abruptly cuts off. Instead of the walls, the feed shakes and jerks as she turns it around and River's face is visible, peering directly at the little device. ]
Curious name and curious nature. The walls have secrets and she doesn't know what they are.
[ She frowns a moment, then turns to eye a window with a clearly suspicious look. ]
They're hiding something.
[ She stares for a moment or two longer, then starts to skip off down the hallway again. It takes a while for the feed to cut out, in the end it only happens because she decides to sit down outside a door in one swift movement, and drops the little tablet thing in the process. ]

And it's a near godsend that he manages to gather what she's saying, because it takes a lot of effort just to be that clear. She's more stable these days, sure, but more stable is nowhere near the same thing as being fixed. That's beyond her, she knows that, and even if it's a bitter pill to swallow it doesn't change the fact that it's true.
The moment of understanding, she knows it's there. Sees it and feels it better than any comforting touch ever could, and a weak smile touches the corners of her lips as she nods. ]
Demons, like the angel who lives next door? Sodium chloride isn't dangerous. His is a strange world.
[ And she doesn't really know the half of it, either. She does find it easy to believe in demons though, given the evidence presented to her over the last couple of days. Things are stranger than she ever believed.
And she's distracted enough by these thoughts that she responds to his musings on silver without really being aware that they weren't actually delivered out loud to her. ]
How does the silver have to be delivered to the victim? The skin? Must blood be shed? It's socially unacceptable to cut people considered friends, even if they aren't always friendly.

Salt has purification properties. Demons are pretty much entirely dirt, evil. Like slugs. It purifies them by burning them out.
[At least, that's how he's come to understand it. That's also why it works on ghosts- their souls are tainted by staying behind, the salt purifies the taint. It's all a soul thing. Demons, ghosts? The only difference between them is a thousand years of torture. They're all people gone wrong.
He's not sure if she understands any of that, but hey. At least he tried.
He glances up from his task again at her question and... okay, yeah, psychic, but it's still damn weird when they do that. He'd yell at her about staying outta his brain, but at this point he's more or less convinced it ain't optional. If she could, she would. Instead, he just... feels for her. He really does.]
Little less socially unacceptable with my friends, but skin contact'll do. Drawing blood's where the big money is, but just a touch'll burn a little.
[He pauses a little, looks her over, then rights himself. His hand comes together and he fiddles, loosens a ring from his hand and passes it over. It's not the one from back home, that was lost in Purgatory. It's one from here that he picked up shortly after Meg showed up.
He hands it to her.]
Here. Hold onto this. Demons? See, they can't stand iron. It won't do much, but if things get sticky... Hey, a few seconds saves lives.

[ There's a confused look to match the words as she observes the salt with curiosity. The fact that it confuses her only makes River want to know more, rather unsurprisingly, but she holds herself back from pestering with too many questions. Just about, anyway. ]
Silver, salt and iron. Pure is as pure does, and they cast out any evil.
[ It's more of a mental note than any real conversation. She doesn't know what he's talking about, not in the slightest, but she knows that he does. There's experience behind the words, anyone could hear that.
...Maybe not anyone. River can, though, and she knows enough and trusts that enough that she's willing to take what he says as fact, at least until anything proves otherwise.
The ring takes her by surprise though. Not many things surprise her any more, and for a moment after taking the ring she just rests it in the palm of her hand, tilting it slightly to each side to make it roll gently around the center of her palm. There's a lot of things that she could say. He doesn't need to try to protect her. A few seconds didn't save his life. He should stop trying to save everyone.
In the end she settles for something a little less intrusive. Manners, manners. ]
There are demons here?

Yeah. Meg. They're like friggin' roaches, though, so don't get too comfortable with the devil you know. She's a rare breed of non homicidal.

[ She knows that name, it's the woman that didn't fit, and she stares at the ring again for a moment before squinting at Dean a little. ]
She's met her before. The one with the wrong name, she's a demon?
[ She's a little lost here, honestly. Meg had been perfectly friendly, if a little snarky, but certainly not evil. She's never processed grey area all that well, and with new information to try and categorise into neat little boxes she's having a slightly hard time keeping up. ]
She doesn't seem like a slug.

[And he'd warn River to stay away from her if he wasn't convinced Meg wouldn't dare try and pull something here, not with him and Cas and that other angel watching her like a hawk. Not if she doesn't want to make waves.
Still, he feels the need to throw up a few red flags.]
And she's killed people before. Hurt people. Screwed people over, so don't you go buddying up with her, you hear me?
[Better River safe than River with unhurt feelings.]
