ship log 003 [video/action for the kitchen]
[So, uh. This cooking thing.
But do you see that? The view's a little shaky at first, because he's still getting the hang of this technology thing, but there, for your viewing delight, Wonderland, is a microwave.
Well.
It used to be a microwave.
What it is now is more a column of smoke and melted plastic and burnt things, with the coppery shine of burnt tinfoil.
Oh, and the door's off to one side, and it shouldn't be twisted like that.
And yes, he actually read the instructions. And no, they didn't make a damn bit of sense.]
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure that's not what it's supposed to do when it's done.
Re: Video
I've noticed that instructions are often written under the assumption that whoever's reading them already knows what to do.
Video
Then why, if they assume as such, would one need instructions elseways. Honestly, the other wheres and whens must be a madhouse, full of people who either can't read or simply blow themselves up.
[The irony that he's just described Idiocracy is, of course, completely lost upon him.]
Re: Video
::It's lost on Ed too, because he's never heard of it either.::

Re: Video
Basically, the people wanting directions on how to use whatever are the ones that don't know how to do it, but the people writing the directions assume that since they know how to do it, it should be obvious to everyone else.
Video
And make no mistake, I have heard some very stupid things in me time.
Re: Video
I'm reaching the point where I don't even know what I'm saying anymore and should just go do something by myself. Possibly take a nap.

Re: Video
Well, stuff you're used to would be familiar to my old man, at least. Assuming he was here.

Re: Video
He's been around for a few centuries.
Video
[After all, when the whole story was explained to him by Tia Dalma and the others, isn't that what Cutler Beckett is doing? Hector most certainly thinks so.]

Aye, but they be properly compensated for it. We do as we can. Ye can keep your 'modern medicine', if it's all the same to you. Especially if it involves contraptions like the microwhatsit.
Re: Video
Meh. I'd rather keep my automail over some money and an inability to get around.
