[So, uh. This cooking thing.

But do you see that? The view's a little shaky at first, because he's still getting the hang of this technology thing, but there, for your viewing delight, Wonderland, is a microwave.

Well.

It used to be a microwave.

What it is now is more a column of smoke and melted plastic and burnt things, with the coppery shine of burnt tinfoil.

Oh, and the door's off to one side, and it shouldn't be twisted like that.

And yes, he actually read the instructions. And no, they didn't make a damn bit of sense.]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure that's not what it's supposed to do when it's done.

But I think we have a senate of some sort.

Well, we only do it to thumb our noses at the monarchies. [But he pushes away from where he's been leaning to move closer (thought not too close) to at least get a general idea.]

I think so. [Ange demonstrates.] It's more like the stove than I thought. You have to push it in to ignite...something, and then adjust the heat.

Adjust it for what. [Seriously, what does that it even mean.]

You cook things at different heats, I think.

[Ange puts a hand on her hip.]

...But wouldn't cooking at a higher temperature be more efficient?

Even if it is suspicious, eating what this place gives us seems more and more appealing.

Nay, I can't say as I am. However, given that- [He breaks off, and gestures around the kitchen.] I'm supposed to be in Tortuga, lass, bound for Singapore and points beyond. Of course I'm paranoid, considering this is very much not Tortuga, and I can't say as I can grow as content about that fact as some seem to.

[Because, you know. Deals with sea goddesses, his life in the balance...There's a lot going on where he's from.]
