12 [Video/Action]
[If there's one thing that Blaine's learned, it's that every minute of every day is filled with choices. And for most people, the majority of those choices come easily to them. When it comes down to choosing between whether to heat up a frozen dinner for one or to whip up a batch of macaroni and cheese, most people have no problem deciding between the two.
But for Blaine, things are a little bit different. If he feels like cooking for himself, he has to make sure he has enough time to devote to the entire process: the process that starts with gathering the necessary ingredients and cooking supplies, and also familiarizing himself with the layout of the room he's in.
All of this takes some time, and a simple thing like making scrambled eggs for breakfast ends up becoming quite the endeavor. But the way he sees it, he has nothing but time on his hands, and what's three minutes or thirty when there's no appointments or classes to rush off to?
So, after the lengthy process of making sure everything he needed was prepared and within easy reach, Blaine settles back to wait for the stove to finish heating up to the proper temperature. He doesn't go very far away, because causing a fire this early wouldn't be great for anyone. He stays near enough that he can still feel the heat rising from the stove, working off instinct to tell when it's hot enough to cook the eggs that are sitting in a bowl to the right of the pan.
But in the meantime, he's just going to see if anyone's awake and in the mood for conversation, so he fiddles with his communication device until it flips to the video function. He manages this fairly well, only fumbling once or twice as the buttons prove difficult. It's something he's gotten used to, though, remembering which button he needs to push to get the function that he wants, but sometimes, he doesn't mesh well with technology. At least today, it seems to be cooperating.]
Morning. [He smiles in the direction of the screen.] It feels like it's going to be a nice day, doesn't it?
[He can't really tell by looking, of course, but there's something in the air that makes him feel like today's going to turn into a pleasant one.]
Listen, I'm going to be in the kitchen for awhile if anyone wants to stop by. You might even get some food out of it if you do.
[He's cooking for more than one person, because in his experience, the smell of food acts as quite the powerful lure, and really, it's a win/win all around. They get fed, he gets some company for a little while, and if they hit it off, an enjoyable conversation might end up happening.
And if they don't hit it off, well, sometimes that happens too. But whether they get along or not, it's not about that for him. Having someone else around to talk to, even if they're the grouchiest person on earth, really helps Blaine out in ways he never thought possible.
He puts on a brave face most of the time, but not being able to see definitely has its pitfall moments. He's come a long way in terms of taking care of himself, but the adjustment part of things is something he has to wrestle with on a daily basis.]

Did someone say food?
action;
I sure did. Are you hungry?

[ there, not strangers anymore. problem solved. ]

I'm Blaine. It's nice to meet you, um... [He pauses, waiting for her to supply her name.]

Buffy. [ she says the word like it has no vowels in it, hugging her knees up to her chest as she waits for food. the blind guy can totally cook her food - she won't even ask. ]

He recognizes Blaine. They've spoken at least once before, if not for very long, so it makes sense to wander down to the kitchen and see what he's up to. Balthazar's showered and shaved, used to getting up early by now, but he hasn't bothered to put on his jacket or real shoes, thus his arrival is heralded by the soft jingle of his necklace and the scuff of cheap slippers.]
Morning! That video sounded like an invitation. Mind if I cook, too?
Action
No, feel free. There's room for both of us.
[He shifts over to one side, hoping to allow Balthazar easy access to the stove.]
Action
[In case the other man doesn't remember him. He wanders closer, peering at the eggs, then moves gently past Blaine and opens the fridge.] I feel like making a frittata. Apple and cheddar, maybe. Or peach and ginger. What are you up to?
Action
Hey, Balthazar. It's good to see you.
[Just those descriptions alone are enough to make Blaine's mouth water.]
I didn't know you liked cooking. [He doesn't know a lot about him, but somehow, that comes as a surprise.] But yeah, I'm just making good old scrambled eggs.
[He laughs and ducks his head a bit, because what he's making can't compare to the things Balthazar just described.]

Eggs, but I can make something else if you don't feel in the mood for that.

[And with that, he bustles off to make more coffee and keep an eye on the eggs while he waits for her to show up.]

Want any help?
[ He's not normally all that social, really not at all, but the way Scott talked about the communicator implied he expected Isaac to use it. Y'know like... Interact with strangers... Which, aren't you taught not to talk to strangers. That's totally a thing... For kids.... Not upper teenage werewolves... And this guy doesn't seem all that harmless, actually kind of reminds him of Scott with the whole cute puppy look.
Might as well talk to the strangers that don't give him the heebie jeebies.]
I really suck at making toast but anything else.
[ Isaac grins, far too brightly for this time of day. ]
[It's not quiet in the kitchen, not really, because the humming of the refrigerator and the sizzle of the oil that's lightly frying the eggs is noise enough.]
It's hard to resist free food, right?
[Never mind that it's all free here, but if he showed up, Isaac wouldn't have to lift a finger if he didn't want to.]
[Video --> Action]
I dunno, I think someone has said something about taking candy from strangers, does that count for food too?
[ He's mostly teasing, mostly. Please don't be a hunter, or one of those crazy idiots that puts poison or razor blades in childrens' candy. ... Eh, or do, it's not like it would actually kill him... well don't do the razor blades thing... Please to not be doing that... He smiles again, as if he hadn't just been deciding whether he'd rather Blaine be one of those weirdos that puts poison in candy or one of those weirdos that puts razor blades in candy. ]
Be there in a sec.
[ An he will be, a little bit after ending the video, but instead of actually wondering into the kitchen he stays near the doorway. ]
You uh, make food for strangers often?
[Action]
[He laughs at the thought of that, even though it's really not all that funny. It just seems so far removed from anything he'd do, which is why it made him laugh.
So don't worry; there won't be any poison or razor blades or anything except good, old-fashioned scrambled eggs.]
See you soon.
[He turns back to his cooking while he waits for the other guy to show up, and when he does, he's nearly finished with yet another batch. Just in time for the two of them to chow down.]
Hey. And no, not really. I usually cook for myself, but I figure a change is good once in awhile.
[Action] I AM SO LATE, I AM SO SORRY, AAA I AM THE WORST
Action
But then he heard that someone was in the kitchen making food and well, that's not an opportunity he's about to pass up. And so he shows up in the kitchen, three layers of clothes and a hat upon his head. ]
Heard you were makin' food, eh?
Action
Yeah, I am. Do you want something? I'm making eggs, but I can start something else if you want.
[Really, the sky's the limit, as far as Blaine's concerned.]
Action
[ Jack Sparrow is not, and has not, ever been a picky eater. After all, the food you can eat when you spend months at a time on a ship is somewhat... limited. And, in the end, food is food, no matter what food it is. Especially when it's cooked by other people.
While Blaine cooks, Jack makes his way to the fruit bowl, looking through it in hopes of finding an orange. ]
Action
[It helps to know the name of the person he's cooking for, assuming that he sticks around long enough for some conversation. Taking the food and running for it is always an option, of course.]

Oh, ah, good morning.
[He can't help but stare a little at all the food.]
You've got a lot going on there.
action
As far as he's concerned, Mordecai's just another hungry person drawn in by the offer of food, and the smell of it, as well.]
Good morning! Help yourself, if you're hungry. Or I can serve you, if you want.
[He's been doing that anyway, so he doesn't mind.]
Re: action
Well, there's no need to serve me, but I do think I'll use some of these eggs if you don't mind.
[He hasn't quite noticed Blaine's impairment yet, but he has noticed that the bowl of eggs isn't really lined up with the other objects on the counter in any sort of pleasing geometric fashion. He almost instinctively moves it a few more inches to the right/forward, and it gives him a small feeling of relief.
There, Helping.]
action
[While Mordecai's doing that, he pours himself another cup of coffee.]
You know, I'm not sure we've met before. I'm Blaine.
