[ Robin doesn't use his device too terribly often; not because he doesn't understand how to use it - he's caught on well by now - but he'd still much prefer to speak with someone in person, unless of course they really only need to ask something briefly of each other. It serves a purpose, he won't deny that.

And today, he's decided to step outside of his comfort zone and deviate from how he normally conducts himself, posing a few questions and observations to anyone who might be listening.

He's in the dining room at the moment, giving some thought as to what he wants to eat, and his face is rather perfectly centered as he speaks. ]

Before my arrival here in Wonderland, I had a brief stay in a small village by the name of Storybrooke. Everyone frequented Granny's diner, so I presume the food was extraordinary there, but I regretfully didn't have much time to sample it all.

[ He thinks for a moment, trying to remember some of the menu items: ]

I enjoyed the burger I was able to try, and the grilled cheese.

I was curious about something called buffalo wings. Does anyone know much about the buffalo? It must be rather small, based on its wing structure.

[ He's familiar with chickens, and the meat that comprises burgers, but buffalo is something new to him. ]

I've come to understand there's a particular type of food unique to diners, and while this place isn't a diner in the strictest sense, we can certainly acquire any of the food normally found there. I'm not sure what I should try. Any suggestions?

[ He's a generally friendly and curious person, so there's a lot he could ask her, though he's mindful that they have time later to discuss things as well. ]

Do you do quite a lot of cooking?

Oh, some. I'm not all that great at it, and you don't need to here, really. But I eat a lot, and sometimes it's a good way to get to know folks. Conversation starter. Even sort of how me and my hus--

[Oh. Wow. It's been so long since she thought about him so...casually. And even as it still stings, still hurts...it's different. She feels different about it.]

Uh. Well. My...ex-husband and I sorta bonded over food. He was a big guy like I'm a big gal, so.

[Huh. That didn't feel too bad to say.]

Indeed, some of the best conversations I've had with others ended up being around the campfire, exchanging stories over a good meal.

[ Given the way she pauses, he hopes it wasn't a terribly traumatic separation, though he doesn't feel it's his place to ask if their separation was mutual. ]

It does help to bond over commonalities like that, and then it often lends itself to finding other things to bond over.

Perhaps sometime, I could do a bit of cooking for you, things unique to the world I come from.

[She beams, pleased at having made a friend so quickly-- and at apparently being a few steps closer to getting over her husband.]

Now that sounds like the bank of the river doing a backflip if I ever heard it! What kinda stuff are we talkin'?

[ What a curious expression. But he's amused, and equally pleased. ]

Well, some meat pies, rather unique pastry and bread items. Is there...anything you don't particularly like to eat? Any sort of ingredient you'd prefer not be included in a meal?

You know, I haven't had a meat pie in the longest time. That sounds really good, right about now. But it'll have to wait, or I'll never get to cookin' for you in the first place.

You do a lot of the cooking, back home?

Well, then we'll plan for another occasion to indulge, certainly.

I do, in fact. I don't trust my men to cook very often. [ His tone is light, though, so it's obvious it's a tease. ] I learned quite a bit from my mother, thankfully I retained most of that information.
