[When the feed opens, Jo looks a little worn around the edges. She's pretty sure that look is going around at the moment -- the event had been a hard one for a lot of people, enough so that she'd almost considered not issuing this invitation at all, but she and Tohru had discussed it and decided together that sticking with the original plan was probably for the best. Events came and went all the time in Wonderland, and deciding not to deviate was probably the best medicine for any ills this one had caused. Still, there was a little more weighing her down than just that. She hadn't seen or heard anything from or about her mother in days, and considering they hadn't been on the best terms lately, it had her stomach in knots.

She clears her throat a little before putting on her best face, offering the feed a tired but genuine smile.]

I know this probably feels a little bit last-minute. Ned and Tohru and I have been talking about it for awhile, and I'd planned to say something earlier, but things came up.

[The event, mostly. She's pretty sure she doesn't have to elaborate on that.]

I've heard people talking a little about Thanksgiving, and awhile back, I talked to Ned about hosting it for everyone, like some of us helped Dean do last year. We'd talked then about wanting to make it a tradition, do it every year, even for people who don't normally celebrate it, and I wanna hold to that. The bar is huge and has room for everyone -- I'd like to do it there again. I know some people here have family or friends they'd like to do their own gatherings with, and we don't want to interfere with that, so--

[She pauses, the mention of family making her smile flicker just the tiniest bit before she reinforces it.]

What I'd like to do is host it tomorrow, the day before Thanksgiving. Some people have family here, either biological or otherwise, but not everyone does. I know not everyone gets along, but for one day, it would be nice to be able to put everything aside and check our problems at the door. Remember that we're all in the same boat, just for a little while.

So-- no matter who you are, whether you celebrate Thanksgiving back home or not, everyone is welcome. Food will be on at about three PM, and while we've got some stuff mapped out, we're glad to accept any help that anyone else wants to offer. Everyone is free to contribute and come to spend as much or as little time with everyone as they'd like.

[Weapons will be checked at the door, just in case, but otherwise the open-door policy stands.]

There's no telling how long any of us are stuck here. Some of us have been here a long while, others are new, but whether we like it or not, we're a community. It would be good to focus on the upsides of that and remember the good parts about being in Wonderland, instead of letting the bad weigh us down.

I missed that one, but it's good to know that Wonderland shakes things up now and then and breaks the pattern.

[Occasionally. She pauses, making a face.]

It always sucks when the Mirrors get involved. Mine is a pain in the ass.

Mine, too. He likes to cut things.

That sounds... inconvenient. [At least.] I know there are some who aren't violent, but the bad apples really stick out, it's hard to remember the ones who might be okay.

[He nods.] I try to keep it in mind, though. And if you know enough about the bad ones, it's hard not to sympathize with them, too.

It was last year when we were sharing bodies with them, right? My Mirror might do terrible things, but I found out a lot about why when that happened.

I'll admit, I didn't really take the time to get to know mine. I was too pissed about the crap she was doing in my body.

[Which leads right into the next part.]

Yeah, that was when it happened. Halloween. ... mine didn't have much of a reason except for being a demon. I wouldn't say you're lucky, but-- it's easy to forget that some of them are people, too, isn't it.

[But not all of them. There are a handful of demons on the other side of the glass that she'd love nothing more than to douse with holy water.]

[Souji tilts his head at her choice of words.]

Do you mean "demon" figuratively?

Wish I did.

[That would be nice.]

But no, I mean it. Or at least as close to a real demon as a Mirror can be. I'm not sure how that works, but she has the same strengths and weaknesses.

I'd never thought they could be something other than what we are.

[Then again, his has different Personas from him, so it's not much of a stretch from there to what Jo's describing.]

What should I know if I run into yours?

As much as I hate it, demons aren't all that different from humans. They can't exist without us, they're just-- souls that are so twisted they've lost all humanity.

[She looks uncomfortable voicing that out loud. It means having to potentially consider demons as people, and that's not something she wants to do.]

Salt will keep them at bay, holy water will burn them, and they're weak against iron. Whether she's a real demon or not, the weaknesses seem to be the same.

[Souji nods, committing that to memory, though he's a little distracted. Her description of what demons are--twisted souls--makes him think of Adachi and how their respective Personas had differed despite being the same god to begin with.]

Maybe she's weak to those things because she believes she's a demon. [A psychosomatic sort of a thing.]

If you run into mine, just make sure he doesn't get within arm's reach. He doesn't like to use his powers, so if he can't get close enough to cut you, all he can really do is be rude.

Considering we're in Wonderland, I wouldn't dismiss that idea. If there was going to be any place where what a person believes about themselves is enough to make it even a little bit real, it would be here.

[She's considered it from that angle, too, and she thinks Souji just might be onto something.]

I'll keep that in mind. Thankfully, I like to work from a distance, anyway, and I'm always armed. Just in case.

The Queen of Hearts makes the Mirrors, I think. I wonder if she makes them what they would want to be?

It's worth thinking about. It seems like it would be possible, doesn't it?

Yeah. How does she know what's opposite of us, though?

No idea, but she seems to have a pretty damn good track record so far, doesn't she?

[Jo's not really a fan.]

I guess there's no point in questioning it if we can't refute it.

I don't know, isn't questioning how we learn things? Even if we can't change it, it seems like it would still be good to know.

No, I agree. I've just been questioning a long time.

You've got every right to.

[They all do.]

But I get it. I'm sure it gets old.

At home, it took me and my friends less than a year to solve a murder case. I'm three and a half years into this one and I don't know much more than I started out with.

I can't say much about where you come from, but I'd bet the magic involved here makes a difference.

Well, at least there are always plenty of people here who want to investigate and find out what they can.

Consider me one of them, even if I like Wonderland a little more than most people seem to.
