[This isn’t the first time Freya is woken up to find her world changed, but she had thought she had put this part of her life behind her. She’s also super annoyed because she’s supposed to be saving her dumb family right now, but apparently she can’t ever have what she wants. Story of Freya’s life.

This is not where she’s supposed to be but she’s too paranoid to place that on the network right away. She buys her time, explores, gets to know things, and after finding her way to a bar for a big girl drink, while she’s sitting there, swirling the straw in her hand, she opens the device and decides to test the waters. She speaks calmly and clearly, but doesn’t show her face quite yet.]

So. Instead of demanding information I'm sure you've all shared a thousand times before, I’d prefer to keep things interesting. If you all don’t mind indulging the curiosity of someone who so rarely finds themselves in a place that is quite so … eclectic, I think I’d like to know more about where you all are from.

Granted, there are many variables that make up different worlds, so let’s not let ourselves get carried away. Beginning with one topic would probably suffice, so I’ve chosen the one that I know best.

[You can almost hear the smirk as she speaks.]

[The reason she chooses the bar, rather than the safety of her assigned room to make that particular announcement is that she does need someone to explain this world to her and as far as she can tell, there is only one person she knows and trusts here. She would rather hear it straight from Cami, getting potentially conflicting information from strangers.

(She's aware that she's fortunate Cami was there at all - she might have had no choice but to rely on the kindness of strangers - but for how she's choosing not to think about being trapped, alone, in a world she doesn't understand. It's bad enough that her siblings aren't here and she seems to be trapped here indefinitely.)

So there she is, perched on a bar stool like she belongs there, and waiting for Cami to make her appearance. That being said, she's not completely unfriendly, so if you wish to chat her up, she'll be more than happy to talk to you.]

[ Cami's not the only one currently working the bar, and after spotting an unfamiliar face seated on one of the stools, Simon makes his way over with a friendly smile and a cheerful demeanor. ]

Well, here's a new face. What's your pleasure?

[Freya is always friendly to those who are friendly to her, so she returns the smile in kind before nodding.]

That entirely depends on the quality of your tequila sunrise.

[She is a girl who knows what she wants, oddly enough. And while she is usually more one for shots, she thinks tonight needs a slower approach.]

Oh, we are all about quality here.

[ he chuckles as he says it and goes about making her a drink. ]

At least when Wonderland is cooperating with us, anyway. I'm Simon. You a new arrival?

[ He's got a good memory for faces and most people pass through either here or the training center and gym down below at some point or other. ]

[She nods as she settles in to watch him fix the drink, resting her chin in her hand.]

Freya. I got here a few hours ago, but I was told that a friend of mine worked here - and really, when you're kidnapped by a place that is only supposed to exist in a book, I think you've earned a drink or two, don't you?

Oh, at the very least. [ he grins as he goes through the easy motions of someone who knows their way around a mixed drink. ] So which friend are you looking for, Jo or Cami?

[ Either way it has his interest fixing on her intently for a moment, because what he's learned about both their worlds makes him a little alert about who - or what - could wander into the bar at any moment. ]

Cami.

[There's a small smile as she watches him put the drink together.]

Though she is really more of a friend of my brothers. But she seems to be the only one from our little ... circle here.

[ Simon absorbs that information thoughtfully for a moment before sliding the glass across the counter to her with a crooked smile. ]

There were others here, before. But it's been a while now.

Don't take this the wrong way, but when you say brothers... Does that make you one of the vampires, the witches, or the werewolves?

[ He might have made the acquaintance of a few of your family members, enough to know about the supernatural politics that hailed from your particular New Orleans. ]

[She laughs softly, before trying to figure out the best way to explain it.]

I am a witch. But my brothers are vampires. It's ... complicated.

Sweetheart, I'm not sure there's anyone that comes from your city that isn't complicated. [ He drawls the words out with a crooked smile before leaning on the bar. ] It seems to be the running theme, in fact.

[deathlessness]

[She laughs.]

I supposed that is very true. Our parents made things very difficult for us, and in turn, we make things difficult for others. A rather vicious cycle, I'm afraid.

[luckynumberthree]

Most cycles are, it seems. [ His voice is dry as he shakes his head with a smile. ] One thing parental figures seem more than adept to passing off to the next generation, yeah? It's not an easy cycle to escape.

....Short of being kidnapped to a fictional universe, at any rate. That's a bit of an extreme solution, however.

[deathlessness]

It is. Given that I've just returned to my family, I'd say their timing is particularly terrible.

[And someone will probably pay for that. Eventually.]

But for now, I'm simply learning my way around.

[luckynumberthree]

Wonderland has a knack for that. [ He winces sympathetically. ] Some find a comfort in knowing that their time waits on pause for them to return, so at least they're not technically missing anything. But it's a small comfort, I know.

And then there's the people like me. [ He adds the words with a quirk of his lips. ] The ones where our worlds have already gone so far to shit that we would beg borrow and steal to stay here as long as we can, and never want to leave. Makes for a complicated clash of opinions sometimes, but for the most part it doesn't interfere in the day to day.

[deathlessness]

[She pauses, before giving a small shrug.]

I'm not looking to destroy it. If you're not happy here, then who am I to judge. I just want to be returned to my brothers.

[luckynumberthree]

And that I can't blame you for. [ He inclines his head in understanding. ] Anyone who's got family back home, or someone special, is usually itching to get back to them as soon as they can.

[deathlessness]

[She nods in agreement.]

I personally don't care where we are, but I fought for too long to get back to my family. I do not simply wish to leave them.

[luckynumberthree]

If it eases your mind any? This place has a reputation for dropping you back in the exact moment you left, with neither you or them any the wiser. You're not missing out on anything by being away from them. They're all just... on pause until you get back.

It does, some.

[But it does make her wonder if the spell she was working on at the time would still be effective.]

Better than nothing, I suppose. Right?

And in the meantime... well. You get to experience all the zany experiences Wonderland has to offer. Sometimes they're not even terrible.

[ That sounded optimistic, right? ]

[She laughs a bit at that.]

If anything, at least I can live an adult life for a little while. That has to be worth something.

[Rather than constantly babysitting.]

[ He arches an eyebrow at that, curious. ]

You can't at home?

I am often my brother's babysitter of choice. So if it isn't a family emergency cutting into my personal time it's unexpectedly needing to spend time with Hope.

[There's a pause as she sips her drink.]

Not that I mind. Hope is the best of all of us.

A niece?

[ Simon looks curious about that. He wouldn't have pegged you for the babysitter type, Freya. No offense. ]

I got the impression your family had a lot of emergencies.

[deathlessness]

[She laughs.]

My brothers do have a knack for getting themselves into trouble, that is for certain.

[ He grins at that. ]

Supposedly that's what brothers are for, isn't it?
