[This isn’t the first time Freya is woken up to find her world changed, but she had thought she had put this part of her life behind her. She’s also super annoyed because she’s supposed to be saving her dumb family right now, but apparently she can’t ever have what she wants. Story of Freya’s life.

This is not where she’s supposed to be but she’s too paranoid to place that on the network right away. She buys her time, explores, gets to know things, and after finding her way to a bar for a big girl drink, while she’s sitting there, swirling the straw in her hand, she opens the device and decides to test the waters. She speaks calmly and clearly, but doesn’t show her face quite yet.]

So. Instead of demanding information I'm sure you've all shared a thousand times before, I’d prefer to keep things interesting. If you all don’t mind indulging the curiosity of someone who so rarely finds themselves in a place that is quite so … eclectic, I think I’d like to know more about where you all are from.

Granted, there are many variables that make up different worlds, so let’s not let ourselves get carried away. Beginning with one topic would probably suffice, so I’ve chosen the one that I know best.

[You can almost hear the smirk as she speaks.]

Let’s talk magic.

[The reason she chooses the bar, rather than the safety of her assigned room to make that particular announcement is that she does need someone to explain this world to her and as far as she can tell, there is only one person she knows and trusts here. She would rather hear it straight from Cami, getting potentially conflicting information from strangers.

(She's aware that she's fortunate Cami was there at all - she might have had no choice but to rely on the kindness of strangers - but for how she's choosing not to think about being trapped, alone, in a world she doesn't understand. It's bad enough that her siblings aren't here and she seems to be trapped here indefinitely.)

So there she is, perched on a bar stool like she belongs there, and waiting for Cami to make her appearance. That being said, she's not completely unfriendly, so if you wish to chat her up, she'll be more than happy to talk to you.]

We call ourselves witches, but yes. That's the second time I've heard the word "mage" today. Are you also from Thedas?

[It might simply be a coincidence, but she gave up on believing in coincidences long ago. Sometimes it's better simply to ask.]

[ The question gets a chuckle from him. ]

Ah, I see one of them has beaten me too the punch. I am indeed. Brennan Trevelyan, at your service. And we have witches as well, but they are more of a particular... connotation of magic-users. They tend to stick to the wilds and uninhabited lands to work their craft away from people but are often credited with knowing magics far older and more powerful than any of those who do remain in the cities.

[ Which probably explained why most people in Thedas were terrified of them unless they were in desperate need of something. ]

I see. We have different kinds of magics where I am from as well, but they are more like religions, really. It's not the kind of magic you hold, but how you practice it and what the source of your power is.

[Though she is really quite curious, please tell her all about these magics.]

In my world, all magic comes from the Fade. But mages can channel it in different ways - sometimes it's a choice of what school or theory they will study, I believe, but sometimes they'll have a particular affinity for one branch or another

Although I'm afraid I can't offer a firsthand view, as I'm.... not exactly a mage and certainly no expert on the matter. If you like, i can point you to a few who are, however. If your message doesn't catch their attention on its own merit.

I would like that. So far as I know, I am the only witch of my world here. It would be good to have some community, if nothing else.

[And people to help her try and figure out how to break the magic holding them here and get out.

If you encounter anyone named Solas or Dorian, they would be who I'd suggest to start your discussions with. They're both mages and scholars from my world who know a great deal about strange branches of magics. There's also a Garrett Hawke, and a few others here who can use it as well. As for the other worlds, I've encountered two so far. A young man by the name of Billy and a young woman named Bonnie.

Solas, yes! He was the first person to mention mages.

[So she is a step ahead of you there, Brennan.]

But I will keep an eye out. Are there a great deal of people from your world here?

I'm not surprised by that. [ Brennan chuckles fondly. ] Magic's always a sure way to catch his attention. And he's been very intent on learning all he can about that which can be found in this place.

There are quite a few of us here now, yes. [ They just kept popping up every few weeks, it seemed. ] A few of us have been here almost a year now, but most have only started turning up in recent weeks.

I have heard that some members of my family have been here in time past, but not recently. It seems as though this place gets quite invested in certain worlds.

It does seem to go in trends every once in a while. Perhaps some of us are just irresistibly tasty.

[She laughs.]

Perhaps. Though if they are looking to swallow me, they might find themselves choking.

[Which is said oh-so-casually, but it's hard to mistake the threat behind it. Freya Mikaelson will not go quietly.]

[ He looks intrigued rather than intimidated over her reaction. ]

Bit of a mouthful, are you?

[She laughs.]

Certainly more than they can chew.

[ He just grins at the answer. ]

Something I can appreciate, at the very least. I am glad to hear it. I don't know how those who have been trapped here for as long as some have have survived it, to be honest.

[She shakes her head.]

People are much more resilient than they think they are. All they need is a reason and they will find a way to survive anything.

[ He thinks that over a moment before giving her a warm smile. ]

It's nice to hear optimism from someone here, despite our situation. Many seem to be a little short on it in this place.

I can understand why. When you've been trapped somewhere for so long, hope is one of the hardest things to hold on to.

[But she's willing to try - she's only been here a few hours.]

Some are just predisposed towards pessimism anyway, I think.

[ His grin is crooked, because he knows a few of those. ]

I haven't been here as long as others, but if there's anything I can aid you in, my lady, I hope you'll let me know?

I will. I've always seen the benefit in being stronger standing together, rather than failing alone.

As have I.
