deathlessness: (but you're bound to stay)

[voice ~ ota]
[This isn’t the first time Freya is woken up to find her world changed, but she had thought she had put this part of her life behind her. She’s also super annoyed because she’s supposed to be saving her dumb family right now, but apparently she can’t ever have what she wants. Story of Freya’s life.

This is not where she’s supposed to be but she’s too paranoid to place that on the network right away. She buys her time, explores, gets to know things, and after finding her way to a bar for a big girl drink, while she’s sitting there, swirling the straw in her hand, she opens the device and decides to test the waters. She speaks calmly and clearly, but doesn’t show her face quite yet.]

So. Instead of demanding information I'm sure you've all shared a thousand times before, I’d prefer to keep things interesting. If you all don’t mind indulging the curiosity of someone who so rarely finds themselves in a place that is quite so … eclectic, I think I’d like to know more about where you all are from.

Granted, there are many variables that make up different worlds, so let’s not let ourselves get carried away. Beginning with one topic would probably suffice, so I’ve chosen the one that I know best.

[You can almost hear the smirk as she speaks.]

Let’s talk magic.

[action ~ the bar ~ for cami o'connell, but ota]
[The reason she chooses the bar, rather than the safety of her assigned room to make that particular announcement is that she does need someone to explain this world to her and as far as she can tell, there is only one person she knows and trusts here. She would rather hear it straight from Cami, getting potentially conflicting information from strangers.

(She's aware that she's fortunate Cami was there at all - she might have had no choice but to rely on the kindness of strangers - but for how she's choosing not to think about being trapped, alone, in a world she doesn't understand. It's bad enough that her siblings aren't here and she seems to be trapped here indefinitely.)

So there she is, perched on a bar stool like she belongs there, and waiting for Cami to make her appearance. That being said, she's not completely unfriendly, so if you wish to chat her up, she'll be more than happy to talk to you.]

That's good. Believe me, it's no fun showing up here when you've just been turned into a vampire's chew toy. [Mikael in this case, although she would avoid that specific mention if she can. Unlike all of her siblings, Freya had known a version of Mikael who truly loved her, who wanted to be a good and decent father for his children.

Honestly, it's hard to believe given Cami's own impression of him.

She pushes the glass over, taking the second for herself as she goes on.]
That was the first time I got pulled here. The second was after I got arrested for murder, which I didn't commit, by the way. If he's shown up, Lucien Castle decided to drop me off with one of his dying victims, and the detective on the case took it the wrong way.

[To put it mildly. But depending on how much Freya's experienced at home, she really might not have any clue what Cami's talking about.]

[Well that's something worth drinking to. The mutual disdain for Klaus' first sired has Cami knocking back her scotch just in time to miss the moment when it clicks for Freya that Cami's from her past, and how drastic of a thing that is. She thus remains blissfully clueless to her own future, something that Cami is more than happy about in a general sense anyway.]

I don't remember hearing about that, but it's not surprising. People tend to be brought here from different points in time. There's a distinct possibility that you're from what for me is the future.

[To address confusing aspect of Wonderland #1.]

Beyond that, we're also brought in from different worlds, or different versions of the same world. As far as I know, you and I are the only ones from New Orleans as we know it. It's--been that way for quite some time.

Oh, but that's the real kicker. [She punctuates her words with a soft laugh, but one no less bitter for how quiet it is.] No one's sure that there are any "beings" bringing us here. No one's claimed responsibility for it, not even the people who seem to foretell what happens to all of us while we're within Wonderland. About the only thing that everyone seems to agree on is that it's all done by magic of some sort.

[And that's it. Whether it's purposeful or random, the intent of some creature with insane power or the workings of a world entirely made of chaos, no one knows.]

But the good news is that when you do get sent back, you'll return to the exact moment when you left, as if you were never gone. You won't even remember being here at all--which is why none of us have ever mentioned it.

[Because Freya's assumption is wrong. The Mikaelsons have made their way through Wonderland before.]

They were here for awhile. All of them except Finn--[whom Cami feels about as fond for as Freya does for Lucien]--along with Davina and Hayley. I think it was late last year here when I saw any of them last. In Wonderland, specifically.

It's April now, by the way. Since that may not be the case back home for you.

[Two months difference then. It isn't that bad of a leap for Freya to have to get used to, anyway. Give it two weeks or so, then another event would happen and suddenly whether it was April or February would become a lot less relevant.]

Oh, that's just scratching the surface. Did anyone happen to mention the events to you yet? [Those just might be Cami's favorite part about being in Wonderland, if by favorite you mean the bit she hates the most. Either way, Freya either hasn't heard or she's going to want confirmation from someone she can trust--so Cami continues with the explanation.]

Every couple of weeks, more or less, reality as we know it decides to take a break. Either the world changes around us, or it changes us; you literally just missed one where all our emotions went haywire for three days, which is why the bar is going to be busy for the rest of the night.

But as invasive and as horrible as that was--it's not the worst Wonderland has put us through. [She presses her lips together, her eyes staring off into the distance as she thinks about some of the things she's been manipulated to do and to believe.] Pretty far from it, if I'm being honest.

[She's honestly a little surprised when Freya bridges that gap to touch her. Of course they've spoken a few times, but Cami's not particularly close with the other woman. Still, it's a sweet gesture, and she's right: there is a massive gap between the friends she's made in Wonderland, and the loneliness she feels from being the only one from her world.

Secretly, she can't deny that part of her is glad that someone else from New Orleans has shown up for that very reason.]

Thanks--although in spite of that, I'm actually not doing too terribly. I work here, at the bar, although I'm guessing you already heard that. And I have that therapy practice I always wanted to set up. Turns out that Wonderland's mess is easier to schedule around than everything we have to deal with back home.

[Which, let's be honest, is pretty much all Klaus' fault anyway.]

There are other things, too. Like death. While people can still be killed here, they come back. And that's probably important for you to know, because once people hear you're a Mikaelson, it's going to draw some attention.

[Pretty much for the reasons Freya had thought of earlier. Again, Klaus.]

Unfortunately it's not that simple. When you first got here, there should have been a cellphone nearby. Everyone gets one.

[Including Cami, who pulls hers from her pocket and begins scrolling through the contacts.]

And while not everyone thinks about it, it does list everyone in Wonderland...including Freya Mikaelson.

[She turns the phone for Freya to see her name in its full glory.]

Although for the most part, people aren't violent. But there are some people who hunt the supernatural, at least in their own world. [Many of whom Cami is good friends with, and one of whom she may or may not have slept with. Look he's totally hot and this place sucks, okay?]

Pretty much anyone with the last name "Winchester" is probably going to side-eye you a bit once they figure out who you are. They're not bad people though. Just--a bit biased, sometimes.

[Nothing is ever that easy, Freya. Especially not for the Mikaelsons and friends.]

Yes and no. On the plus side, the guy who was the most actively for taking down your siblings is still here, but he doesn't actually remember he was after all of you.

[Which she hasn't actually explained yet. Oops.]

See, sometimes when people get sent home, they come back and immediately remember everything from when they were in Wonderland before, which is what happened to me. But other times, they show up and they don't have a clue about the lives they led here. So even if Klaus or Elijah or anyone else from our world were to show up, they wouldn't know anything about having been here before.

And neither does this hunter. Dean, by the way. [Whom will very likely flirt with Freya relentlessly the first time they get a chance to talk.] Come to think of it, he won't even recognize the Mikaelson name, so I guess that's one problem solved.

As for his brother Sam, let me talk to him. He and I are kind of...close. [Aka he's the one she slept with. And would sleep with again, under the right circumstances.] Ideally we can defuse the whole situation before it even starts.

Actually, all things considered Klaus was reasonably well behaved. For him.

[Not flawless by any extent, but he managed to keep himself in check most days. Cami's very aware of how worse things could have been.]

He did compel one of the other bartenders for information when he got here though; Jo. But she's pretty understanding, so I doubt you'll get a lot of grief from her. [Maybe a wary look, but Cami doubts it'll escalate.] Honestly, a lot of the people who were around then aren't any more. You really might not have that much to worry about, at least once they get to know you past your name.

Yeah. When people do figure out who you are, chances are good there won't be a lynch mob.

[So they, there are some advantages to being in Wonderland. Yay?]

So let's see. I mentioned timelines, universes, the events, deaths...on the much smaller plus side, our basic needs are taken care of easily enough. Every room has a closet, like that one.

[She points towards the back, well familiar with the door's location in the bar.]

If you need something, go to the closet, shut the door, and think of whatever it is your after. When you open it, that item will be there--for the most part. You can't wish for anything overly powerful, or a specific item from home, but outside of that I haven't been able to think of anything it didn't give me. The kitchen and the cafeteria work the same way.

Among other things. But there are limits; more powerful things, like pretty much every dark object we've got back home? You can't just wish up. [Cami may have tried on a couple of occasions; just saying.] There's a way to get those too, but a hell of a price to pay for it. They've got this weird market set up, with vendors who will take a few memories in exchange for whatever you're after. Cheery, right?

[personal profile] therapize 2016-05-16 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
I have absolutely no idea. [Although it is a question worth answering, Cami's aware of her limits. Her role in Wonderland is to support people in the aftermath of the insanity, others who can hopefully find answers she doesn't have the ability or the resources to discover for herself.] Most of my time is spent either pouring drinks or therapizing the citizens of Wonderland. Turns out, listening to Klaus for months has been really good practice for that.
therapize: (let's think this out)

[personal profile] therapize 2016-05-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that's an understatement. I could have written my entire thesis on Klaus' laundry list of issues. [Although for all the ways he's wrecked her life, and all the flaws, Cami can't deny the fact that she misses him. Her gaze goes distant for a moment; it's strange to think it's already been months again since she last saw the hybrid—or anyone else from home, honestly.

Except Freya, now.]

Honestly, it's better that they aren't here. Wonderland puts us through hell anyway; the way the events go, it'd only be harder on them—and more dangerous for everyone else.
