[It's been a while since Dean's bright and shining face has graced the screens of the communicators. Graced being a... strong and slightly ironic word. He looks distinctly less morose than he did the last time, but he's still got an expression on his face that clues the observant in rather quickly that it's going to be serious business this time.]

First off, I wanna to apologize on behalf of all of the idiots from back home. Not sure which of them it was, might've been me, but that last event was all on us.

[Actually, it's all on Dean, but he's not one hundred precent on that. Considering Gabriel's here, and he's... tricky? Not exactly the word he's looking for, but anyway, moving on, he can't be sure it wasn't him, Cas, or Sam. He'd like to keep the latter two from being thrown directly under the bus, though.]

Second off, I'm thinking it's time we had a little pow-wow.

[He shoots the camera a significant look. It's not hard to guess what he's hinting at.]

Time to step it up a little, be a little more proactive, see if we can't start heading these things off at the pass.

[He shrugs a shoulder. Might not be possible, but hell, it's worth a shot, right?]

Either way, we're taking this somewhere a little more private. If you're interested in a hike, be out front in a couple of hours. Someone'll escort you to the party. Bring a pen.

[And that's all awesomely vague except for the places where it ain't. The feed ends rather abruptly. A few hours later, Daryl Dixon will be making a few trips back and forth leading groups of people to secret place out in the middle of the woods. It's there that the real fun begins.]

[Al flips through the notebook a bit, raising an eyebrow at the scribbled out word but not saying anything about it.] So how exactly does this work?

[He tugs his own out of his pocket to demonstrate just as soon as his hands are clear.]

Check it out- it's pretty awesome.

[He seems legitimately pretty excited about it, too, and a smile curls at his lips as he leans over to draw a little doodle of a stick man. In real-time, right in front of Al's eyes, the same little stick man will appear in exactly the same spot on all the notebooks.]

[Al's eyes go wide in amazement, and a stupidly giddy grin spreads across his face.] Oh, that's so cool! Its like our own little network!

[His grin widens a little- hell yeah, enthusiasm. About time someone was as hyped as him.]

Bingo! Got it in one.

[Man, who wouldn't be enthusiastic over this?]

This is going to be really useful--though it's not gonna run out the more we write in it, is it?

[For. Real. Thank you.]

Nope. Far as I know, you can scribble to your heart's content. But, uh... don't actually... do that. Not gonna mean much if everyone fills the pages in the first week, huh?

[Daryl narrows his eyes at the notebook when it's given to him, snorting and making a face when he sees the word that's already there. Digging through his pocket, he pulls out a pencil, scribbling a few words next to it in his blocky, untidy scrawl:]

[He shakes his head.]

Shut up.

[It appears not long after Daryl's writing.]

[He shakes his head, amused, before drawing what looks like a skirt onto the little stick man that's appeared next to Dean's writing.

He also takes note of "bastion", though he has no idea what it's supposed to mean.

...Okay, yeah, this shit's pretty cool.]

Wow... this is real magic, isn't it...?

[ She flips through the notebook briefly, watching to see if any writing appears. ]

This is probably a much more secure way of communicating than using the network... unless there's a such thing as a 'magic' hacker...? Is that possible...?

[ She continues to speculate on the nature of "magic hacking", mostly to herself. ]

[Els flips through it a bit, looking contemplative. A charm like this isn't something he's used to using, but it's not exactly amazing to him, either. Aisha could probably do something like this.

After a minute he raises a hand.] One question—can it transfer other magic, or just the writing and pictures?

[Now that... he doesn't actually know. He scratches at the back of his neck.]

You'd- uh, you better ask James, he's the one that does all the... magic shit.

[For lack of a better term.]

[Magic notebooks, huh? It's kind of a shame. He hates using text; his handwriting and spelling are just all so awful. He's embarrassed every time he's forced to use text on the network proper. But what can you do? He can suffer a bit more embarrassment if it means getting out of here.]

[He jots down the first thing that comes to his head.]

[Jo stares dubiously at the word that's been written and scribbled out on the page, looking back to Dean and raising an eyebrow at him before he can move on to hand the next person their notebook.]

Really, Dean?

[He holds his hands up in mock surrender.]

Hey, I was just testin'!

[As much as she wants to bust his chops over it, she can't help smiling at him all the same, though it's definitely a weary sort of smile, the look of a girl who knows she should have expected as much. She knows him well enough by now.]

First word that came to mind when you thought to test them, wasn't it. Somehow, I'm not surprised.

[Dean, you're kind of impossible.]

Well, they work -- should come in handy. They're definitely secure? No nefarious parties are going to be able to see us writing back and forth about boobs?

[Hey, at least she's smiling about it. It pulls a reluctant, apologetic, goofy return smile from him- topped off with an innocent shrug. What can he say? Every guy's a twelve year old kid deep down, sometimes.]

Not unless they get their hands on one of these notebooks. Figure it's more secure than the devices, anyway. All we're really trying to do is stay off the mirror's radar.

[She'll never say no to a chance to see that smile, at any rate, even if it does take some middle-school humor to make it appear.]

That's good. I've always assumed the devices were monitored in some way. The rest of the manor is, after all.

[She snaps her notebook closed before holding it up with one hand.]

Guard it with my life. Just remember, any dirty messages you decide to send anyone else? No hiding 'em from me now.

[She smirks. She can't help it, she has to poke fun at him.]

You and me both, hence all the hush-hush on the network.

[And that's exactly why he's hella glad to be using these notebooks for resistance meeting organization. Much easier to get to everyone involved in a timely fashion without broadcasting it to the Queen and her mirrors.

His lips twitch a little.]

No more dirty words. Scout's honor.

[He's drawing a penis just as soon as she's outta eyeshot.]

[Mordecai briefly has a grade-school flashback when he discovers his notebook already has some... mischief happening inside it. He's about to tear the page out when he notices that the thing is still writing on itself.]
