[ when the feed opens, it's on the floor at first, but after a second it turns to face a pretty girl with long brown hair and a bit of a smile on her face, sitting on the bed in her room. elena looks happy, which is, unbeknownst to the citizens of wonderland, kind of an unusual thing for her. ]

So, Wonderland. [ her tone conveys what she thinks of that, thanks, but she continues on after a moment with her smile growing wider. ] My name is Elena Gilbert, I'm new, and I have a question for you all, if you don't mind.

[ she rests her chin on her hand and raises an eyebrow. ] Is Wonderland better than wherever you came from? Like... personally, I miss my friends, obviously, but I don't want to go back home, because someone very important to me is here, and they're... gone, back home. [ now she looks a little shifty -- she doesn't want damon to know either how important he is to her or that he's dead when she comes from. ] Does anyone else here have something like that? A loved one back from the dead, or maybe you're back from the dead? You're missing out on the apocalypse?

Just curious!

[ and now the feed cuts out, and elena flops back on her bed, grinning at the ceiling. ]

[ Well that's an unexpected outlook from a new arrival. Not entirely unusual - Natasha knew that there were a few here who preferred Wonderland to home for various reasons. And some that had no life to go back to. But after a week of threats and curses over the network from confused people who'd unexpectedly found themselves here, it's a notable switch. ]

A it of a rarer outlook, I must confess. Do you have a lot of apocalypses, back where you're from?

[ Because that is also apparently a thing here. ]

Hello, Elena. I suppose I can safely say 'welcome to Wonderland' without it sounding too ironic, in this case. I'm Natasha.

[heightens]

Not apocalypses, exactly. More... local disasters. A lot of them. Seems like they happen every week, like clockwork. "We're being attacked by witches, must be a Thursday!" That kind of thing.

[ elena smiles and nods, giving a happy little wave. ]

Hi, Natasha, it's nice to meet you. Thanks for the welcome.

Something I can sympathize with, actually. Perhaps you'll find this place to be a bit more relaxed than what you're accustomed to, then.

And you're welcome. It was a nice reprieve from all the threats and cursing that usually comes with new arrivals.

Hopefully! I've heard some things, but it doesn't sound like anything I can't handle so far. So long as no one's in actual danger of dying I'll be happy.

Yeah, I'm not really a threats and cursing kind of girl. Even if I was upset about being here, I'd probably just channel that into finding a way out. Or trying to, anyway, from what I've heard it sounds like it's not really possible?

Not reliably, or one that any of us have any control over. This place seems to bring people in and send them away with no discernible preference. We don't get much say in the matter.

People are still looking for a way around that, however.
