[Sans is out at his hotdog stand, apparently oblivious to the growing cold. His black cat, 4, is a lot less oblivious, considering he's curled up in Sans's hood. He's peering dubiously at the camera while Sans fiddles with condiments. This is the first time Sans has really been out in public since the last event.]

probably only a couple more days till wonderland throws the holidays at us, huh? gonna be my third one, personally. wonder how bad it's gonna be this time. last year we didn't sleep and kept waking up in a wonderland where everyone was brainwashed. year before that, i almost froze to death. despite, yanno, bein' a skeleton.

[Sans sets about toasting a few hotdog buns on the grill behind him.]

hey, so...indulge me. if you could have any one thing for gyftmas, or christmas, or whatever you celebrate--what would it be? no limits. could be purely conceptual or intangible. just any one thing.

...and hey, if you wanna give a sarcastic answer, feel free. think we've all had enough truth or dare where you can't pick dare lately, after all. i'm just curious.

That's cool. [ "Cool" is an understatement, but Ellie sometimes isn't sure how to respond to people and relies on old fall backs. ] ... That's a nice thought.

[ She wishes the same for the people she cares about, too. For the ones that're still alive, anyway. ]

[His smile widens just a bit.] yeah, a lot of them are. i guess i lucked out, kinda. just wish it was...safer here, yanno? i'm tired of...

[Losing people. But he doesn't say it; he just sorta shrugs.]

[ She thinks, of course, of Joel's first death. Of seeing him torn apart by invisible dogs.

She tries not to shiver. ]

I'm glad you've got people here you care about, though. And you can all watch each other's backs, right?

[He believes her. She would know, wouldn't she?]

yeah. that's the important thing. looking after each other.

[He's just gotta remember to actually do it right. And to let other people look after him sometimes.]

Even if things here can be... majorly shitty, there's some good stuff, too. And it's all a little easier with people you trust.

[ She wouldn't give up her Wonderland friends for anything. ]

yeah, heh. it's a lot easier. don't think i would've lasted long if i'd been here the whole time alone.

[ Ellie hesitates, mentally debating, and then adds: ] I was here on my own for a long time, and it was... tough. M'glad I don't have to do that anymore.

yeah. uh. i know what that's like. i'm happy for you.

[The time before any of the others showed up was kind of miserable. And then the time when Papyrus was gone.]

Thanks. [ He seems kind of... quiet, though, so she hastily clears her throat. ]
