Hey everyone. I'm Steven Universe and... um... I've been thinking a lot about this war stuff too.

[He's heard a lot about the war that was fought back home, while seeing the signs of war flaring up all over again. He's afraid of it. And if there's one thing he desperately wants to succeed at where his mother failed, it's at preventing war from happening.]

I... I can't believe it's come to this. But it doesn't have to, right? It shouldn't have to. We have three months. That's a lot of time! So in the meantime, there's gotta be something we can do to stop the fighting. Right?

To try to figure things out... I know I have to learn more about this place and its past. Can anyone tell me more about the Mirrors, and the Queen of Hearts? Aside from the basics. And... have there ever been any wars here in the past?

There's gotta be some kinda solution. Some way to make peace! And we're gonna find it! [His determination builds up at the end! Even if he still feels largely at a loss.]

well, no harm in trying. maybe there will be an opportunity to talk to the queens. but, uh...you're a kid, yanno? shouldn't be a kid's job to stop a war.

[Sometimes it is. Sometimes that's how things shake out. Sometimes a whole population can't pick its own damn self up, so some poor kid has to do it for them. But it shouldn't be that way.]

[He can't remember if he's talked to this kid before. He thinks he's seen him around.]

I'm a little older than I look. [He says a little meekly.] And no matter what, if it's possible, someone's gotta do it.

[He smiles lightly.]

And my name's Steven. Steven Universe! [That other guy sure seems to be a skeleton, but Steven doesn't seem phased by it.]

...seems like it's that way with most people here, heh. sorry for assuming.

It's okay! [Steven chuckles.] It happens a lot. I just... haven't grown in a while.

[Steven nods.]

Nice to meet you too, Sans! Yep, we're from the same world alright. How'd you guess?

pfft, well. you and me both.

[He got over his salt about being short a very long time ago, but it's still annoying.]

lapis and peridot have mentioned you. uh, and amethyst, back when she was here--you know her, right? we've had a bunch of gems in and out of here.

Of course! Amethyst is one of the Crystal Gems... We live together back home! [It's a bittersweet feeling, because he misses her dearly, but it's nice to hear about her anyway.]

And you all made friends, right? That'd be so great! Hey, I bet they'd let you be an honorary member of our shorty squad!

that's real cool. i've heard a bit about the crystal gems, and about gems in general.

[He hasn't exactly dug in deep, but it's hard not to pick up on things when you're friends with Amethyst and Peridot. Lapis doesn't talk about it quite as much.]

heh, i'll let you know. i'd be willing to bet some kinda gem-themed event will come by sooner or later.

[It's basic math. The more people are here from a given world, the more likely an event from that world will happen. Just look how many events there have been from the Pines's world.]

[His grin goes wide when Steven puns back at him.]
