[Steve had been laying low since his arrival, which he knew was not the necessarily smartest thing. He should be out and finding information, but it had just been too much culture shock in a row.

Now, though? Now that he could look out the window and see how this Wonderland was turning bleak, and grim? Now he needed to step up and do his job.

He turns on the video feed, looking like he means business.]

Hello. This is Captain Steve Rogers, and I'm sorry for my absence. I'm back now, and ready to assist anyone in need. Things seem to be getting a bit grim.

Though I'm not quite sure what's going on, and if anyone can fill me in I would really appreciate it.

[And with that, the feed ends. Steve is going to start patrolling the floors, starting with the tenth. He'll be easy pretty to spot, as his shield is nothing if not noticeable.]

[There's no welcome back from him. They live on the same floor. If anyone's paid attention to who's still moving around and who isn't, it's Clint. But it's reassuring to have the man speak up, all the same.]

Can't really say. [And it unsettles him more than he likes to admit.]

What I can tell you is you don't wanna touch the fog, though. Turns anything living into statues.

[It's good to know Clint is around. He was observant, and when unexplainable things were happening that was a good trait to have.]

Statues? How can fog do that?

[What is this witchcraft.

And there's a pause.]

It's good to see you haven't been affected, Barton.

[Well. That last part gets a dry chuckle.]

Likewise, Captain.

As for how that works? Beats me. It looks like someone's rendition of hell out there, though, and frankly after talking plants that shrink people I've given up on logic where this place is concerned.

At least the fog hasn't made it far up into the mansion yet, but that's the only good news.

[Chuckles are good, right?]

Could it be...Magic? I mean, we are in Wonderland.

How long has it been around?

[Definitely good.]

Could be. So long as nobody recognizes it, we'll have to go with best guesses. It's been around a few days, only outside and in patches at first. Gradually got thicker. Now it looks like it's starting to creep into the mansion.

[Excellent.]

And of course nobody knows how high it'll get. Or more importantly - how long this is going to last, or how to get people who've been effected back to normal.

[Bela had taken to staying in her room since everything began. Particularly after she had learned that the fog had began to filter into the mansion itself. Luckily for her, Bela was on the tenth floor and was safe for the time being.

A sound outside her room caught her attention and Bela decided to investigate, opening the door and poking her head out into the corridor to see what was going on. That's when she saw Steve.]

Hey!

[He turns at the sound of her voice, nodding with recognition. He's not that far from her door, and he closes that gap quickly.]

Ma'am? Can I help you?

You can start by telling me what the hell you are doing.

[She fixes him with a look, watching as he came up closer to her door.]

Just doing patrols, ma'am. Trying to find ways I can be helpful.

[Your looks will have no affect, ma'am. This is a very determined man.]

You can stop with the ma'am thing you know.

[So earnest and so good and determined. Are you for real, Steve? Bela doesn't know anyone like you.]

Intending to patrol the whole mansion?

I'm sorry if I, uh, offended you.

[Clearly Bela needs to meet nicer people.]

If it needs to be done, yes.

I'm not offended. I just prefer being called by my name.

[Well now she's met Steve.]

Just be careful. It'd be a real shame if you got turned to stone.

[He's about as nice as you can get.]

I'll avoid the fog as best I can.

[And so earnest too.]

Don't do anything stupid.

It's an event where a curse from Amaterasu's world has come. The fog is dangerous and it also apparently saps power from those with supernatural abilities.

Amaterasu? Isn't that a...Japanese god?

[Well now he's just more confused.]

Things seem a bit grim?

You mean other than the fact that we're locked in a pocket dimension that Richards would cream himself over, with only Bruce between New York and super powered wack-jobs who think they can rule the world?

[Unsurprisingly, Tony has been distracted by his projects or Sherlock this past week or so therefore hasn't noticed a single thing]

[Tony looks away from the screen for a moment as if looking at something, reading it. His reply coming back distracted.]

We're living in the twilight zone. So there's always something strange going on. But no, I haven't noticed or heard anything.

So you didn't notice the fog that's apparently been turning people into statues.

What have you been doing, Stark?

[Looks back at the screen when he hears about people being statue'd, with a raised eyebrow.]

Wait, people have been what?

I've been where I always am. I've been in my room upgrading the Iron Man suit, and increasing JARIVS' space.

According to Barton, they've been turned into statues.

Aren't you the slightest bit concerned?

[Tony takes a second to digest what he hears.]

Well. That is... Concerning.

Easy enough fix though. Keep people out of the fog, Fogs generally heavy so as long as everyone is inside and up a few levels I can't see why should there even be a problem.

Really Cap. This is the kind of situation that C.D.C deals with. This would barely register on Fury's radar for things of interest.

[Somebody else is patrolling the halls to make sure kids - because yeah, there are still kids around here, the little bastards - don't go wandering into the creepy mist. It's on the tenth floor that Dean catches sight of a familiar insignia, and he lets himself have a double-take before realizing that it's another one of those.

Obviously, a great friggin' time to introduce himself to another superhero from his favorite comic books.]

Hey, Cap!

[He gives a short wave and jogs over.]

[He stops in his place, smiling at Dean as he approaches. It's his "I'm Captain America and I am here to help" smile.]

Hello. Do I know you?

[Wait that sounds rude.]

Well, I suppose "Are you from my world?" a better question.

...oh. Right, uh. No, you don't know me.

[He offers a sheepish grin.]

But I know you, I mean- Okay, we ain't exactly from the same world, but in my world, you guys - the Avengers, I mean - you're pretty popular.

[Like. Um. Comic-book popular.]

[Ooookay. To call this weird would be an understatement.]

Right, then. What's your name, son?

[Clearly this is the best first meeting.]

[Son. Ahahaaaa. That's funny. Dean tries not to snort.]

[He stretches out a hand to shake.]

If you do not mind, I have a proposition for you regarding the warriors of this realm.

Let me hear it. If it has to do with getting a team together, I'm all for it.

It most certainly is. Even if Lady Romanoff seems to disapprove.

Have you already spoken with everyone else? How many candidates are there?

I've asked around, but I've yet to make a proposition to the people. There are a great many here who would be both willing and capable.

You oughta' watch yourself if you ever go outside. By the sounds of things it's lousy with demons and poison out there!!

You should take care of yourself too, kid. I don't think any of us are safe.

Oh, believe you me, I'm doing all I can. Admittedly starting to get a little antsy without much to do to get all this fog out of the way!!

I'm hoping it'll go away on it's own, but one can never be too sure with things that are unexplainable.

Well, Ammy explained it to me! Have you spoken with her yet?

Unfortunately not. Where can I find her?

Er, couldn't really say, sir. I'm afraid I don't even know what she looks like.

((A moment of thinking.)) Well, I do know she sounds like a swell lady. Perhaps that counts for something?

Have you been alright? It's been a while.

As can be expected. I've stayed away from the all-boys sleepover that seems to be floor that Stark and Barton live on.
