[ Aerith pops on screen looking a little winded, and maybe just a tiny bit frantic.

See, she has this Materia - a tiny little ball of glowy magic, courtesy of her mother - and she's managed to lose it.

There's no telling where the thing is. Usually, she tucks it up tightly in her ribbon, but recently she's been pretty distracted with the arrival of some of her favorite people, and maybe she's let her routine slide just the tiniest bit.

Whatever the reason, it's now gone and after she's turned her room upside down in her search, she figures she'll put out a message on the network in case anyone's found it. ]

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I've lost something of mine. It's green and about this size. [ And she props her little device on a side table, so she can stand back and make a shape with her hands. ] It's not big enough to really stand out, but it's not small enough to fall through any cracks or vents.

[ She picks up her device again, sighing. In all the time she's had her mother's Materia on her, she hasn't lost it. Not like this. Especially not in a mansion that likes to throw monsters and tricks their way. ]

I'm going to look more through the mansion, but if anyone comes across it, give me a heads up?

[OOC: Just a heads up - she won't be finding it anytime soon, but everyone is welcome to help her. Also, feel free to run into her anywhere - she'll be searching high and low and through the grounds. ]

[ He'll be there a few minutes later, a faint smile touching his lips when he sees her. She's really upset about this -- understandably so.

He walks up to her, concerned but not overly showing it. They have to find her materia (he knows they will), but fretting won't do any good. ]

Hey.

[ He covers her hand gently with his -- a reassuring gesture. ]

[THIEVES? SERIOUSLY? Annie narrows her eyes. She'll hunt down anyone who's stealing and-- and-- and yell at them until they give it back!]

Do you... know anyone who'd want it? Your Materia?

[Kirigiri has been taking care as well, trying to be thorough and efficient at the same time. She sits back on her feet when Aerith calls to her.]

Unfortunately, no. Should we continue searching this area?

Ah? That can happen? [He knows nothing about the mirrorverse, except that it exists.]

[Tohru quickly tied her hair back into pigtails before she left, so it wouldn't get in the way while they were looking. She nods very seriously though, at the suggestion of where to start.]

I'm ready! Hopefully it's in here somewhere. I'm sure we'll find it though, if we look hard enough!

[And if that, Tohru heads to the back of the room, happy to get down on her hands and knees and start looking under the beds.]

[ No one understands. No one understands the trials of growing up with a guardian who talks to "fairies" and casts spells and said ex-guardian is a total asshole and HAVING A UNICORN FRIEND AND NEVER SEEING IT ANYMORE EVEN THOUGH HE'S STILL A VIRGIN!!!

America has so many issues there is just nowhere good to begin. ]

Do I even wanna know what the Lifestream is?

[ He's looking dubious, but there was a key word in that sentence that made it a little more palatable: "manufacturing." If these people are making magic by taking some material and refining it... that's kinda like kerosene, right? That's something he can understand. ]

Not at all! In this case it can only heal.

[ That was the worst joke in the world Zach stop. ]

How about a little information? I'd like to know what your world primarily uses for weapons, defense, and healing. Swords? Baseball bats? Magic? The more specific the better.

I'll need to keep up with the expectations of customers, after all. Best to start exploring the market to meet the demand.

[He's gonna go ahead and assume that's not where it'd ended up, if she hadn't even been aware of them. It couldn't possibly have rolled over there on its own.]

I think so. [Martha hopes that she's the only person he ended up pointing a gun at like that. She gets the feeling that others would have reacted far more harshly than she had. She feels a bit better about handing out that information to him now that she knows he's a friend of Aerith's, though.

She's curious about how the two met, but they should probably focus on the search for Aerith's marble first. A quick scan of the kitchen doesn't reveal anything, so they'll need to look a bit closer.]

Sounds good. [She moves off to the right and starts searching through cabinets, countertops, and even under tables for any sign of a shining green orb. She even looks in the walk-in refrigerator that they have, but there's no sign of it.

Martha wanders back out and glances over to Aerith, shaking her head.] Nothing on this side.

You keep that in your ribbon? And it stays?

[That's kind of impressive.]

Haven't seen it, but I'll keep an eye out. Hey, maybe when you find it again, I could make you something to keep it safe in!

I can't think of anyone...

[ She's really racked her brain over this one. The only people who even know what Materia does are Zack, Vincent and Sephiroth. She knows Zack and Vincent wouldn't take it, and she doesn't get the feeling Sephiroth isn't real into stealing. ]

That's why I'm sure it just dropped somewhere and I was too distracted to notice.

[ Which is strange, because she's usually hyper aware of her surroundings. Old habits die hard. ]

[ He'll take her word for that then, though he can't say that answer is doing much good either, not that he was actually planning to search all of Wonderland in the first place... ]

Okay, erm... what's the return address then? I mean-- Sorry, I mean, what's your name? I know I've seen you around before, but it's getting a bit too crowded to remember everyone.

[ And he's not exactly taking attendance, names and all. ]

Wow, that's so weird....[She pauses, thinking of places it could be.]

Maybe the mansion stole it.

[She says it with a scoff and more to herself than anything else.]

[ She squeezes his hand, the gesture steadying her. Zack's presence calms her, and she can focus a little bit better than before. She's not really sure how he does it just by showing up, but she's grateful. ]

Hi. We're probably going to be here a while, the library's pretty big.

[ As she says that she pushes open the door, stepping through with a small sigh. She's only been here a handful of times, but she won't leave a stone unturned or in this case - a bookshelf unchecked. ]

From what I understand, in order for any of them to come over, they have to switched with whoever they're copied off of.

[ It sounds weird, she knows, but who is she to argue? ]

That's all I really know about them so far. I know a few came over recently, but I remember seeing my Materia after that.

[ Aerith's looking at the area around them, trying to picture her usual path so they can narrow down the search. ]

I stay in this small area, so I'm sure we won't be searching the gardens all day. [ She's biting on her lip, looking more than uncertain. It's entirely possible it did fall out here, and something might have picked it up. ] I'm wondering if any animals really come out here that are big enough to get the Materia in its mouth.

I'm sure we will, too.

[ Tohru's optimism is slightly contagious as Aerith can feel herself growing a little more positive about this. She prefers to look at the bright side, anyway, but sometimes she does need that little boost.

She starts on the other side, making sure to go bottom to top on a few cabinets, checking behind tables to make sure there's no space for it to drop down in to. ]

Have you been in the clinic much before now?

[ Fire Materia is probably the closest things to magical kerosene, and she would never want to see him with it. He seems a little...spastic. ]

I guess that depends. Do you believe in a stream of magic that gives a planet life?

[ She can guess the answer is probably in the 'NO' end of the scale, but hey maybe she can work on him a little. Take it as a personal challenge, mostly because ~~she needs a new victim to tease~~ she can't believe someone is just that resistant to magic. ]

[ His joke is pretty bad, and she is shaking her head over it.

His price isn't steep, and she has no problems talking about that kind of thing. Actually, she doesn't mind talking in general, how lucky for him! ]

That sounds fair. Where do you want me to start first - the magic or the weapons?

[ One never knows in Wonderland, but she doubts it'll be there, too. Unless some Wonderland animal found it, dragged it back there...no, that's way too far fetched. ]

So far, nothing. I feel like I have at least half of the mansion on this search at this point.

[ She wishes she could do a better job with this, but alas. The consequences of taking things for granted. ]

My name is Aerith. My room's on the eighth floor, right next to the diner.

[ Her work commute is super short, so convenient. ]

With all the new faces showing up around here, I'm not surprised. I don't think anyone can keep up - except maybe Kirigiri.

[ That girl's made a database, she has to know things. ]

[ With a nod, Aerith goes straight to the toughest spot to tackle (from what she can see at first glance) - a couple of rolling carts and the sink area.

It takes her a few minutes to be thorough, but in the end she comes up empty handed. By the time Martha says something, Aerith's practically finished with her own side. ]

Nothing over here, either. [ She's pretty impressed with how clean they've all managed to keep the kitchen, but otherwise no hide nor hair of Materia. ] I guess that means we take it out into the dining room.

[ His wording instantly reminds her of Yuffie - because that's about the only person she knows who would want to steal it that bad. She smiles a little at the thought, her expression relaxing to look a little less worried. ]

Exactly. Besides, only a handful of people know what it is, or that I have it. None of them would take it. I think anyone else would just leave it alone.

[ Though Annie says it like she isn't seriously considering it, it makes Aerith pause. ]

Weirder things have happened here... [ She says this almost thoughtfully before shaking her head. Nah, too silly. ] Do you think it would, though?

[ She's only halfway serious, but now the idea is in her head and she can't shake it. ]

Usually. I've never had it fall out before, I've been able to figure out how to keep it tied up tight in there.

[ The wonders of a girl with a lot of free time on her hands in her teen years. Well, free time spent at home or hanging out in an abandoned church. ]

That would be wonderful, actually. I really shouldn't carry it around like I do, that's when things like this happen. Are you a carpenter or something?
