[ Aerith pops on screen looking a little winded, and maybe just a tiny bit frantic.

See, she has this Materia - a tiny little ball of glowy magic, courtesy of her mother - and she's managed to lose it.

There's no telling where the thing is. Usually, she tucks it up tightly in her ribbon, but recently she's been pretty distracted with the arrival of some of her favorite people, and maybe she's let her routine slide just the tiniest bit.

Whatever the reason, it's now gone and after she's turned her room upside down in her search, she figures she'll put out a message on the network in case anyone's found it. ]

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I've lost something of mine. It's green and about this size. [ And she props her little device on a side table, so she can stand back and make a shape with her hands. ] It's not big enough to really stand out, but it's not small enough to fall through any cracks or vents.

[ She picks up her device again, sighing. In all the time she's had her mother's Materia on her, she hasn't lost it. Not like this. Especially not in a mansion that likes to throw monsters and tricks their way. ]

I'm going to look more through the mansion, but if anyone comes across it, give me a heads up?

[OOC: Just a heads up - she won't be finding it anytime soon, but everyone is welcome to help her. Also, feel free to run into her anywhere - she'll be searching high and low and through the grounds. ]

I actually checked it with Martha earlier, but didn't find it anywhere. At this point I'm probably going to start checking the basement.

[ Not that she's been down there at all, but who knows. The mansion probably likes playing a few tricks. ]

Everyone keeps asking if maybe someone stole it, but I don't like to think something like that happened.

[ Even if she sounds a little unsure about it. ]

[THIEVES? SERIOUSLY? Annie narrows her eyes. She'll hunt down anyone who's stealing and-- and-- and yell at them until they give it back!]

Do you... know anyone who'd want it? Your Materia?

I can't think of anyone...

[ She's really racked her brain over this one. The only people who even know what Materia does are Zack, Vincent and Sephiroth. She knows Zack and Vincent wouldn't take it, and she doesn't get the feeling Sephiroth isn't real into stealing. ]

That's why I'm sure it just dropped somewhere and I was too distracted to notice.

[ Which is strange, because she's usually hyper aware of her surroundings. Old habits die hard. ]

Wow, that's so weird....[She pauses, thinking of places it could be.]

Maybe the mansion stole it.

[She says it with a scoff and more to herself than anything else.]

[ Though Annie says it like she isn't seriously considering it, it makes Aerith pause. ]

Weirder things have happened here... [ She says this almost thoughtfully before shaking her head. Nah, too silly. ] Do you think it would, though?

[ She's only halfway serious, but now the idea is in her head and she can't shake it. ]

[Well, if Aerith's considering it then so is Annie, because, uh, she wouldn't put it past this place. She shrugs.]

I don't know why it would. I don't know what it'd want with it. What does it do?

Nothing, actually. We have similar items at home, and they give people the ability to cast magic. Mine, though... [ There's a head shake and small shrug on her part. ] A whole lot of nothing. It's never been able to cast magic, at least as long as I've had it. My mother couldn't use it, either, so it's just been passed down through my family.

I see... [Annie's still not convinced. It has to have some kind of value for the mansion or someone else to want it.]

Maybe it's more important than you think or something.

[ That's actually something Aerith hasn't considered. She really hasn't been on the ball lately, has she? ]

That might be possible. I'm not sure why, though. I've tested it very thoroughly, and it doesn't have any active magical abilities I've been able to find.

[ Maybe she's just not doing the right kind of thing to activate it. Her mother was certainly no help with it. ]

[Annie shrugs.]

Just an idea. I don't know anything about it, of course. But that'd be cool, don't you think? If it really did have magic in it??

It would be, now that I think about it. Like some kind of hidden power that needs activated.

[ There's something about that thought...it pings her, down where she runs on her instinct and guidance from the planet. Not that she's getting a lot of guidance here, but it sounds right. That it's just waiting to be activated.

Aerith shakes the thought away. It just seems too silly, even for her. ]

If it did have magic, I'm sure it would be something close to restoration or curing. Thankfully I can heal on my own!

[Annie nods.]

Yeah, that makes sense...Have you tried healing since you lost it?

You know, I haven't actually. I could always test it out. [ She looks a little worried, because maybe some of her power did come from the materia. Not that she hopes anyone is injured to heal, though, and she gives Annie a half smile. ] You wouldn't happen to have any cuts that need healing, do you?

[ She'd rather not just injure herself to test it, but she will if she has to. ]

[Annie gives her a weird look, and then checks her arms and legs.]

Um, no I'm fresh out. But you could come to the clinic and see if anyone comes in??

[ Aerith realizes it's probably a strange question as soon as she asks, but this is her being practical. She smiles, shaking her head. ]

Weird question, I know. And it's fine, I'm sure I can give myself a tiny papercut or something, see if I can get it to heal up.

[ And speaking of the clinic... ]

Are you working down there now? I haven't run in to you yet! We need to get some shifts together. It gets too quiet sometimes.

[Annie's eyes widen, alarmed. Paper cuts hurt really bad!]

[She nods.]

Yeah! Whenever I come in it's like there's been no one in there for awhile, so maybe I just get scheduled for really weird shifts? I don't know...

Could be. There's a lot of down time when we don't have an event going on. I think someone's come in feeling sick once, but that's it.

[ The clinic can be boring, Annie, she totally gets it. And her face brightens as she realizes they can work together! ]

We need to keep each other company sometime! At least then we'll have someone to talk to.

[She can only imagine that her time in the clinic would be a whole lot better if Aerith were there with her.]

And yeah, but I guess it's good that no one hurts themselves unless there's an event going on.

It's a plan, then! We'll keep each other company down in the clinic.

[ A prospect Aerith's pleased with because that means girl time, and she's starving for it. A result of a severe lack of girl time when she was growing up. ]

I should get back to my search now, but thanks for talking to me, Annie. You've given me a lot to think about.

[ Like hidden magic in her materia. She's going to be doing all kinds of tests. ]

Yeah, no problem!!

[She always likes talking to Aerith.]
