003. [video/action]
[ Aerith pops on screen looking a little winded, and maybe just a tiny bit frantic.
See, she has this Materia - a tiny little ball of glowy magic, courtesy of her mother - and she's managed to lose it.
There's no telling where the thing is. Usually, she tucks it up tightly in her ribbon, but recently she's been pretty distracted with the arrival of some of her favorite people, and maybe she's let her routine slide just the tiniest bit.
Whatever the reason, it's now gone and after she's turned her room upside down in her search, she figures she'll put out a message on the network in case anyone's found it. ]
I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I've lost something of mine. It's green and about this size. [ And she props her little device on a side table, so she can stand back and make a shape with her hands. ] It's not big enough to really stand out, but it's not small enough to fall through any cracks or vents.
[ She picks up her device again, sighing. In all the time she's had her mother's Materia on her, she hasn't lost it. Not like this. Especially not in a mansion that likes to throw monsters and tricks their way. ]
I'm going to look more through the mansion, but if anyone comes across it, give me a heads up?
[OOC: Just a heads up - she won't be finding it anytime soon, but everyone is welcome to help her. Also, feel free to run into her anywhere - she'll be searching high and low and through the grounds. ]

action;
Oh! Hello, Kirigiri. I am, actually, something very important to me.
[ And she draws closer, her eyes scanning the ground before looking back at Kirigiri. ]
It's a memento my mother gave me when I was little. It looks like a very large, green marble. About this big. [ And she'll make a circle with her hands. ] Have you seen anything like it around?
action;
[Without hesitation, Kirigiri closes her book and rises.]
I will help you look for it. There is too much ground to cover for only one person.
action;
Thank you. I would love the help. It would probably take me days to cover even half of this place.
[ Searching for something that can fit in the palm of her hand is kind of a pain, it could be anywhere. ]
I was going over that way - [ And she points toward a cluster of flowers to their right. ] I spent quite a bit of time there last week, so it seems like a good place.
action;
It will be more efficient if we both search that space.
action;
Okay, I'll start over here - [ She points to her left. ] I didn't really move around too much, so it shouldn't take long to just sweep this small patch of flowers.
action;
action;
Not that she thinks she actually could but her experience with magical gardens is very limited.
After about ten minutes, she looks over at Kirigiri, calling out to her. ]
No luck so far?
action;
Unfortunately, no. Should we continue searching this area?
action;
I stay in this small area, so I'm sure we won't be searching the gardens all day. [ She's biting on her lip, looking more than uncertain. It's entirely possible it did fall out here, and something might have picked it up. ] I'm wondering if any animals really come out here that are big enough to get the Materia in its mouth.
action;
[Kirigiri pushes some grass aside, checking again.]
What is the purpose of the...Materia is what it's called?
action;
Usually, it's used to cast magic. Offensive, defensive, restoration.
[ She feels a little proud of herself, she made it sound so professional. ]
They're a form of the Lifestream, crystallized and able to give people different abilities. Mine doesn't really do much of anything. I guess it's lost most of it's magic over time - I get the feeling it's very old.
action;
Can you explain what the Lifestream is? [It sounds pretty self-explanatory, really, but she wants to confirm. In the meantime, she moves to look under a nearby bush.]
action;
It's a stream of magic that's inside our planet. It gives the planet and everything on it life. That's not common knowledge, though. [ She's always been aware of what the Lifestream is, but the general populace seems to have an idea but no real need to dig deeper. ] My mother's side of the family has always had close ties to it. It's where we all go to when we die. I guess it's like the planet's soul itself.
action;
After awhile, she decides to ask more.]
Are there many pieces of Materia like yours? Can many people use them?
action;
[ Big, huge controllable monsters who vanish after taking their shot. It's not to weird to her, but she doesn't feel like it's normal where everyone else comes from. ]
The summons help us fight. They usually take the form of some kind of monster, and are able to deal quite a bit of damage.
action;
Kirigiri reaches the end of the flower bed and sits back on her feet.]
I don't think your Materia is here, Aerith-san.
action;
I think you're right. [ She sighs, her arms folding over her chest. The hope she's holding on to, that she'll be able to find it soon, keeps slipping away. ] I was hoping it would be out here. I've turned the mansion upside down in my search...
[ She shakes her head, then looks over at Kirigiri with a tired smile. ]
Thank you for helping. I know you might have been busy with something else, so I appreciate it.
action;
I'll certainly make sure to pay attention and let you know if I see it.
action;
Thank you. I need all the help I can get. [ She sighs, taking one last glance around just in case before giving Kirigiri a smile. ] I'll be inside checking the mansion again. I'll see you later, Kirigiri.
