[audio] cold metal
[The whole broadcast is accompanied by the clank of metal and a sound like cracking, shifting ice. Elsa is clearly pacing around her room.]
Someone, please--something has happened to me, I-I don't...I'm in some kind of metal, like, like armor. It's a curse...some kind of curse, it has to be.
[Her voice gets markedly more frantic.] And Anna! I keep seeing Anna in that--I don't know what it is. The black box. She's alone, she's in danger, and I can't reach her! I have to help her. My sister...
[She's silent for a moment, taking time to metaphorically breathe and calm herself down.]
Someone--please tell me what is going on.

...why don't you tell me about her?
[she finally asks after a little while, voice brighter.]
Your sister, Anna?
[audio]
She's...rambunctious. Hyperactive, even. She's always happy and excited about something. Heh...she never used to get enough sleep when we were little. She'd always wake up in the middle of the night wanting to...
[But that's a painful memory. She doesn't want to think about that either..]
She's kind, friendly...rather naive. Very silly. She tends to think with her heart instead of her head.
[audio]
All of us are naive at some time in our lives.]
I'm all too familiar with that, [Evie smiles, or thinks she does...it's hard to tell when you're a suit of armour.] A romantic at heart?
[audio]
She is, yes. A dreamer. I...worry about her. She's been sheltered all her life...well, I suppose both of us have. She's going to make mistakes, and I...I just worry.
Do you know...the day I arrived here, it was my coronation back in Arendelle. We'd opened the gates and there was a huge party... [So many people. It was terrifying.] Anna was so excited. Even with all that's happened, her spark hasn't gone out.
[audio]
...well, she can definitely relate to that.]
What sort of things have happened?
[She asks gently, sensing a little discord in the story.]
[audio]
...She doesn't remember it, but she was badly injured when she was little. She could have died. It was a...difficult time for everyone and we sort of...grew apart because of it. Afterward, the gates to Arendelle were closed, so we never had visitors from the outside. She was never able to interact with children her own age. And then..two years ago, our parents died at sea.
I think if it had been anyone else, dealing with all that, they would have just...frozen their own heart. [She should know.] But not Anna.
[audio]
[she can relate on some level, at least - her parents died when she was very young. It was hard on both Evelyn and her brother, but Jonathan took it somewhat worse and turned to drink.]
What about you, though?
[audio]
[She does still appreciate it, even years later, after reading all the letters from the nobility and hearing it again and again from the servants. It's still hard to think about.]
...What about me?
[audio]
[Which begs the question:]
Why did your city shut its gates?
